It's amazing how many artists cover Leo's songs.
In Germany we have a comedy band called "The Popolskis" whose story is that all of Pop music was actually invented by Grandpa Popolski decades back in Poland and all those western artists covered his songs and ripped him off and the band now plays the songs like they were actually meant to be played by Grandpa Popolski. They are amazing :)
@@bernhardkrickl3567 funny.
HA...I see what you did there.. 🤨😆
He is very talented. 💕
This is not parody - parody mocks others, and there is no mockery here.
This is not pastiche - pastiche would have been done in the style of Simple Minds.
This might be a tribute - tribute gives respect to the original artists, which this does.
What it IS,... is magnificent.
Which many would miss. He never does.
WHEN ARE YOU GONNA MAKE AN ALBUM OF ALL THESE BADASS METAL COVERS OF CLASSICS?!?! Thumbs up if you want that!!!
These are all on Spotify
He has several releases
Sometimes you see someone with talent that just blows my mind.
This is the dude.
Yes, it's time to get heavy with Simple Minds! What do you wanna hear next? Let me know in the comments:)
Train-Drops of Jupiter
No Doubt-Just a Girl
Garbage-I think i'm Paranoid/Only happy when it rains💙
Do a tribute to meatloaf and do bat outta hell
Love to hear jukebox hero by foreigner
Rapture by blondie please
How about "Children of the Sun" by Billy Thorpe so much metal potential in that song
There are 80's songs and then there's Leo. What more could one ask for.

Life of Agonys version of this was incredible
This is an absolute banger of a cover. Didn't realize just how much better this song could be if done heavier but Leo knew, oh Leo knew and deliverd.
Hello
Watch Simple Minds' performance of it from Live Aid. Not heavy per se, but faster. The song absolutely rips. Props to Leo but the original is still the best.
I think a group called the Bouncing Souls does a heavier version of the Simple Minds song also. All 3 versions are amazing.
Recognizes the brilliance of the songwriter. Genre doesn't matter. Would sound just as good as MUZAK in an elevator.
I could not click on this fast enough. This song is one of my all-time favorites. The Breakfast Club is also one of my all-time favorite movies.
Same here
✊🏻
Agreed. Tell the world how old you are without telling the world how old you are. 😂🤣

I almost cried. As an 80’s teen this song hits hard.
Same! I had this flash that Leo is not far from the mainstream.
Too true getting older sometimes sucks, but we still had the best music, and mentally we’re still 18…..rock on man.
LOL tissue? crybaby....
Same! I first heard this song as a 15 year old in 1985 when I went to go see the movie. After I saw the movie, I went to go buy the original motion picture soundtrack. Still have it to this day! Totally hit the major feels hearing this version.

Leo,juste a great artist nothin els ,you are the best🤟😁🇷🇸
Another perfect cover of a great song from my childhood. It's one thing to make a Heavy metal cover of a song that translates well into Heavy Metal, but the arrangement, the production, your impeccable talent and humorous music videos all come together to create something truly special, while paying homage to the original, is something else entirely. Absolutely amazing and that guitar tone, on point!
Leo Moracchioli sings, plays drums, bass and guitar this man just oozes talent
And does the video, mixing, editing, production, etc.
Dude oozes charisma too
The song I didn't know I needed today. Awesome!
Ha! You beat me by 11 minutes!! 😝
Brilliant
Check out the Life of Agony version... its fantastic
Dear Mr. Moracchioli,
We loved it. We are the brain, the athlete, a basketcase, princess and a criminal.
Sincerely,
The Breakfast Club. ❤️
Nice
I wish these hit Spotify quicker. I need this one on my playlist.
Hi. I am almost 40. Born in the 80's. I feel that the peak time for great musics was 1950 - 1990...
Great metal version of a great "classic" :) thanks
Leo + 80s songs. I could listen to them all day, remembering my childhood.
LEO YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!! Keep go!!!!! Dont stop mister Power!!!!!
I love his videos where it focuses on his skills on the instruments, fingers strokes on the guitar or his steps on the drum pedals, so awesome to watch. His older videos doing triples on the drum pedal were so good!
Awesome reworking!
It was originally offered to Billy Idol but he refused it. Could see him singing it, would be almost as rocking as this version
Billy actually did end up covering it on one of his greatest hits albums. His take was pretty good, as one might expect.
Billy was plan B but get your point.👍🏻
I wonder if. way back, Leo used to do top 40 covers of songs the way they sounded when they came out.
You literally hit the first notes and my memories of watching Breakfast Club came flooding back And I thought of Judd Nelson's character at the end of the movie with his fist in the air
One of the best covers in Leo's recent history🏆
Its fun to watch Leo's videos, you can tell he is genuinely having fun and doing it out of love for music, not the dollars
Would love to hear "We didn't start the fire" next...feel free to text new lines to it 😉
This is my dad’s favorite song. Would love to hear Leo’s version also!
That gets my vote!
I highly agree 👍🏽💯💯💯💯💯
This song made me smile the whole time. I was born in '86 but I love 80's music.
I know fads always seem to come back around but I have yet to hear the creativity and uniqueness of 80's music return to the radio. 🤞
Don't you forget to hit the "Like' button and show Leo how much we appreciate his metal Fridays :)
Oh yes, hit like, smash bells, click subscribe and always do what you're told !
imagine a crazy concert with all these perfect covers ....Leo is a super star who is able to play so many hits .
Frog Leap does tours, mainly in Europe. He's got a few friends that fill out the band.
Keep on making kick-ass metalcovers and we will not forget about you👍🏻🤘🏻
This song was made for Metal... and I think Simple Minds know it!!!
Yes yes yes and yes, we need more awesome 80's like this covered by Leo
It's hard for someone who didn't grow up in the 80's to understand how much this cover, and others Leo does, means to people in my age group. For us, the 80's was the last great decade for music. Some of us can't relate much to modern stuff, but we're also a bit tired of the old stuff. Along comes Leo, bringing fresh takes on classics, instilling them with new life, in some cases adding improvements, and all the while having a deep respect for the originals and understanding of what made them great. The result is nostalgia mixed with the feeling that we're not too old to still rock and roll. Thanks, dude.
Yes, Leo and Sugar Rock. Both of them, this 66 yr old only recently discovered.
this
im late 90's baby (97), but I respect this comment a lot, cause I grew up on classic rock and 80's pop, and even though I enjoy newer music I definitely understand what your saying, I feel similarly to like 2010's music, i feel like for my age group music has gone down really bad since like 2015, and the 80's really did inspire some awesome music trends.
The 80s might have been the last decade with good radio music, but thinking there is no good new music out there is just sad (mostly for you).
Open your ears and your mind, there are many great modern artists out there, you just have to look outside of radio and Spotify top trends.
I love it when Leo covers 80’s songs for some reason. 😊
he used to do them a lot more. I miss those days.
Possibly because this kind of metal wasn't really around then, so the idea of a song where they had no idea this sound existed - but if they did then this is how it might have actually turned out instead. Modern songs were obviously deliberately chosen to not sound like this so it doesn't add that "what if?" into the mix.
@@alexfrance500 what kind of metal didn't exist when? In the 80s? Metal's been a thing since long before then.
@@Babarudra of course, perhaps I should have been a bit more explicit - if you listen to metal/rock from earlier in the 80s it sounded different - think Judas priest/def Leppard. Some of the elements used in this song didn't really come through until later in the 80s or even 90s. My exposure to metal in the 80s was only through friends who were into that kind of thing - it certainly wasn't in the mainstream here in the UK - don't forget that MTV was in it's early days & the internet didn't exist, so to find metal music took a more concerted effort than it does today. Vast swathes of the population would have barely been aware that metal existed & certainly wouldn't have had much exposure to it. If metal was ever portrayed in movies it was usually the metal guys shown as the stereotypical bad boys (an example in this film even). Think the muggers/bikers/bad guys in terminator, weird science, Highlander etc. Metal/rock listeners were portrayed as a peripheral group who were criminal bad boys - certainly to be shunned by mainstream society. A song like this certainly wouldn't have been used for the closing credits of a mainstream hollywood brat pack movie. I think that's more what I meant ;p
@@alexfrance500 I see some of your point. You're right, it wasn't as mainstream, but bands like Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, etc started in the mid-80s, in fact the original line up of Venom (the UK black metal band) reached it's height and fell apart in the 80s. Having been a headbanging teen in the 80s, "I" was fully aware of the metal/hard rock/hardcore scenes, but no, they weren't mainstream, which was also part of the point of enjoyment. But then, I don't really know that heavier metal has ever become mainstream, all the more recent bands may have a decent following, but rarely would some random suit on the street know who Cannibal Corpse, Anathema, or Thergothon are, any more than a suit in the 80s would have known Celtic Frost, Voi vod or even Carnage. And good luck finding a suit from today to even know who those bands are.
It's all pretty niche, we don't generally see the lack of popularity because we are the followers/fans.
I love "The Breakfast Club"
thank you Leo for this Song!
🙏🏼🤘🏼❤
Leo.. one of my favourite artist.
It takes a long time for the penny to drop with me. I've been watching this channel for years. I never knew why, just that I liked the covers. I was a kid in the 70's and a teen the 80's. The music I always liked best was metal. Leo takes the other songs I liked best and makes them metal. Why did I take so long to understand this simpleminded concept? This is why Leo should rule the world!
First 10 seconds into this song and I know it's a BANGER!!
I love that you made it just heavy enough. That breakdown with the crazy bass is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Every friday i wait to see what you have done, since i found you years ago you have never let me down. Once you come back to America Im going to take my whole family to see you live. My granddaughter turned 6 on the 31st of Jan and this is one of our things we share. She loves your daughter and the rabbit lol. Thank you for showing that music is what makes the world great be it here or in Europe or anywhere I cant think of.
I've never been a big heavy metal fan, but to hear one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies? You have single handedly changed my mind Leo.
That guitar solo is pretty effin epic
I'll never forget you, Leo. You do amazing work with these covers.
"But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain …and an athlete …and a basketcase …a princess …and a criminal."
Love the movie and the song!!!
Cool Cover!
I do not identify as a princess.
1 of my top 5# Bender & Allison always take me straight back to 10th fucking grade. Imagine if Allison had been the one to act like John had. Lmao that was me... Actually did that thing he does w the locks when he was to running by the lockers just wasn't singing lol
Love the old school vibe!
YES finally....now we just need St Elmo's Fire
I love this song and Leo gives it the extra growl it needed. NICE
Just when I think you can't blow my mind any further, you do THIS. I have a NEW favourite again. LOVE from Canada Monsieur Moracchioli
This is the perfect song for a Leo cover.
Those metal vocals were surprising and great, and the the tapping in the solo was electric
Perhaps my favorite 80s song. Even more so now.
Life of Agony's cover of this song is amazing
Indeed it is
I love your innovative interpretation of copyrighted music. Sometimes, it’s better than the original. Sometimes, some of it needs more work. I admire your passion and talent. Keep it up and keep going.
This is beyond BADASS! This is a testimony to those times many of us lived!
YES!!! so as a metal head I actually really like the original version of this song. now hearing that Leo did a metal cover of it, dang. I needed this in my life! thanks Leo.

Rock solid, as always. Life of Agony's cover of this song is criminally underappreciated, by the way.
These 80s covers Rock!
I'm constantly amused that Leo's enunciation is almost always cleaner and clearer than the original.
I partied so hard when this song first came out! Glad to see it's coming around again! Nice job Leo, luv it.
I love this so much! I grew up listening to this so it holds a special place in my heart. I’d also love to see you cover either Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship, or Lady In Red by Chris De Burgh. I’d really appreciate it and I think you could do an exquisite metal cover of either song, as you always do!
Keep up the excellent work Leo! I hope you and your family are doing well, and I sincerely wish you all the best my friend!💚
this treatment of 80s music is a definite improvement
You’ve done it again! Another fantastic metal cover of one of my favorite songs. ❤
Leo! Little brother! Love your work, man! Every time I see a new metal cover you put out of the songs I grew up with, I know they're gonna be awesome! You're a true musician and artist, man! I have no idea if it means anything to you, the idea of a guy at work (me) scrolling through CZcams, stumbling into a new video of yours, clicking on it, waiting 5 seconds to skip the advert, then pursing my lips and wrinkling my nose as I start bobbing my head to the beat as you start shredding chords on your guitar....
Just........thanks, man!
Dude that cover is better than anything you here on the radio today.. Bad arss 🎸🎸
Leo come to Canada so I can see you play.. You rock bro!
leo always makes a perfect song, no doubt about it
This song was not made by leo, it was already perfect, leo spoiled it, like he always does

I love how this video is on a TV from the 80's that's way better than the actual TV I had in the 80's. 😂
Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson approve!
and Ally Sheedy
I will always associate this song with Futurama, where it played at the end of a great episode. And I think Leo did it justice.
I can’t wait until I’m old enough to feel ways about stuff.

Your Metal covers are always awesome, thank you for what you do SIR!

Leo this absolutely smashes. i randomly found your Rasputin cover 3 weeks ago and have been absolutely obsessed.
Metalfy the 80's. love it
Loving this. Those percussion fills were made to be ROCKED HARD
I just watched "The Breakfast Club" last weekend and thought that this song would make a kick ass cover. I was not wrong! Great work, Leo!
👍 I was just looking at comments, Wondering how Far Down I had go to find "The Breakfast Club"😉
That guitar solo almost sounded like it belongs in a different song, hauntingly beautiful.
If this was really Leo, he could do better than this. This is likely a scam. sorry. Won a gift? for a comment? Nice try.

Wow - we've never considered covering this song in our set - but after hearing this my mind is blown - I want o do this, this way. Hope the rest of the band agrees as anything post 1975 is "too modern"...
That's a homerun for sure Leo!!
This is the killer for the original! Best Interpretation ever!!! High five Leo!!!

I remember this song from the mid 80s. This was one awesome and different cover of it.
I LIKE IT. SOUNDS HEAVY.

I love your music
This is unbelievable!!! Please come to Texas!!!!!
Dear Mr. Vernon. We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday to make a music video for this song. What we did was wrong, but we think you’re crazy to make us cover a song to tell you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us: in the simplest terms, the most convenient definitions. You see us as a frontman, a drummer, a bassist, guitar shredder, and a bunny. Correct? That’s the way we saw each other at 7 o’clock this morning. We were brainwashed.

That violin peace from the outro always reminds me of House MD when that researcher loses consciousness and the rat starts eating his face.
Awesome to see him take a 80’s song again love it
This is one in which the original drum part is so good that I kind of miss it here. But the guitar flourishes here are a nice touch.
