The song reminds me when I bought a new car. January 15th 1985. An '85 Camaro. It had 12 miles on it. When I turn on the radio, this was the first song that was playing. I'll never forget that.
I believe you, interested history.
Great Car! Wonderful memory.
Good times.
The nostalgia is very real. And I'm only 16
Edit: I am now 18 and the nostalgic feeling hasn't changed haha
Edit: I am now 22 broke asf but this song slaps and will not stop loving it.

"When this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious... do'oh!!! Can't get up to '88 because of the traffic? Oh wait a minute? Is that Mr Strickland out for a sunday drive??? I sense you are part of a generation who feels that the last 30 years may have been better to live in the the next 30. I was due to see Simple Minds this year but couldn't for obvious reasons, I am hoping for 2021 to be better. No disrespect to modern artists, but when you listen to most of what is on the radio, it is total toilet. Most best new music is not being given the airtime it deserves. I yearn for simpler times, chiefly because at heart, I am not ashamed to admit... I have a simple mind....

As a 16 year old right now, I wish this was the 80s. I’d give up all my technology to go and live then.
No you wouldn't. You young kids have no clue about how life was back then. Stop pretending.
Sometimes movies give you a warped or exaggerated sense of how things were in a certain era but not the 80s movies. That really is how high school was, what life was like.
1985 was the height of
The US empire.
It was such an amazing time to be alive. Great music, great movies, US vs USSR but politicians seemed to actually care. We had technology but they were C64s with modems and BBSs. We played outside, there was no Chinese flooding our country with fentanyl.
But the music of the 70s was actually better. They didn't need to resort to music videos. 😂

The Breakfast Club really is a timeless classic that should never be remade.
I agree 👍
Aww cmon you know you want "Wokefest Club" xD
There's no way it could be remade authentically today because that kind of scenario no longer exists. There's no believable characters like Judd Nelson's anymore; they would all be Anthony Michael Halls and Ally Sheedys, and they'd be on their phones texting each other three feet away. There's simply no contemporary comparison that would be as interesting or engaging.
Thats BS the movie aged bad, now look like an old man pretending to be a teen with a bunch of overaged "teens"

Kind of strange that at the time, the band thought this song was a total throwaway and the words were cobbled together at the last second, so they put it last on the album so people would pass over it, and yet this one song is still providing them with steady paychecks to this day.
The one thing that really sucked about growing up in the 80's was not realizing how awesome they were when you were there. To quote Andy Bernard from "The Office" ... “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”

I was lucky enough to be 15 years old in the winter of 1985, in the 8th grade when I went and saw this movie with my girl friend. Before the movie started, I'd just wasted about $10 at the arcade trying to beat Mr Sandman on Punch-Out!! to no avail, so needless to say we didn't get any snacks at the show. It would be something amazing for you to do for me. Like paying respects." I cried. And said "Ofc dad. I'd love too." Just so you know.. my dad's back is always hurting. He's always in pain physically.Thinking about him hurting makes me incredibly sad. But I'm glad to do this for him when he does pass away.
Damn that’s deep
i hope he lives to see you grow and i hope he will recover asap.
Very moving story.
Gee, I hope that his back pain isn't the reason for his demise. The way this sounds, it makes one believe that he's on his death bed.
When you listen to this song it is impossible to not think about how great the 80s must have been
This song and movie (Breakfast Club) was our high school to the T. Miss those times!
Not “must have been” - they were - great times i miss so much
The best time of all for music.
believe me it wasn't all great. especially following the 60's and the 70's i thought alot of the music was total garbage especially synth pop. this tune is great though of course.
@@NoirL.A. Opinions vary although not many have yours!
WE WANT THE CUP 🏆
Didn’t happen unfortunately
they don't make music like this anymore
"Don't mess with the bull young man, you'll get the horns"
Eat.My.Shorts "what can I say? I'm THRILLED"
Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place!
you want me to take you out of that chair and yank it out of you ???.
Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?
ll give you the answer to that question next saturday.
If this song is not played at my funeral, I will walk out of my casket and turn it on myself.
no you probably won't
@@DrWhom bet you're fun at parties
@@paddyanglais91 lol!
haha!! No!!
Want song 10 on this sound track, called love theme ( last song played in movie when Brian reads their essay at end ) played at my funeral.
Some records are built to last, and this is one of them
This song. Man I remember leaning against my 72 impala with the trunk open and those old 6 x 9 Jensen's thumping away with this song drinking Wild Turkey out in the woods with my friends. It's good to be 65 and still have these songs around.
Was it the 454 ci, or the small block by then? (That car was an aircraft carrier of a ride!)
Im glad to be born in this generation because I can so easy access music like this.
EXACTLY!
Fuckin' everyone's like "whaaa whaa I was born in the wrong generation music is dead" Yeah, pop today may not be the best, but music is better than it ever has been. You can so easily listen to whatever song you want- you don't have to hope it comes on the radio or buy an album for it. And pop songs back then must've been annoying for people back then. There's always people who are like, "nyeh, my generation's music bad. Older music good."
Yeah
I don't know how to end this rant
Drink water and recycle.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks & peace.
What are you talking about? No one will appreciate listening to the radio until your favourite song came on and hitting record. We made mix tapes for our friends, it was fun. We also had things like record shops which sold CDs, tapes and records. We had just as much access to music as today just in a different format. I’m not that old either. The 80s were the best generation for real music with heart.
@@newspider5693 honestly this is the exact point i was trying to make music is just tuned sounds that only humans like. telling someone that their music taste sucks is like telling them their favorite color sucks. its stupid and pointless and just like all art its completely subjective.
wish I could like your comment multiple times
Breakfast club... need i say more

80's kids: Please rise for our National Anthem.
I heard this song on regular show
It is rather anthemic for Gen X. Especially these days as the forgotten generation sandwiched between the Boomers and Millennials.
@@KaitainCPS Well said.

Mia Hyde here!!!👍
If you’re young and like 80s music you weren’t born in the wrong generation you just like older music, good for you

Exactly! 👊
I graduated from high school in 1987. Yes, this makes me old. I always say don't be a musical snob. It limits you.
the 80`s music was THE BEST .
I've personally never posted that comment, that having been said, it's not like I don't wish it.
Cause 80’s has the greatest music ever.

I am a retired Nurse. I singback up in a band. We do it more for fun. Our channel is DreamBook. I have a link to my channel. Some of our songs are on my playlist. We just have fun. 😊
CANUCKS ADVANCE!!
This is the song sent to me on an audio cassette in the mail by a girl who was 17 at the time, who lived more than 500 km from me and to whom I had never spoken. About 5 years later, I married her. She looked like a twin sister to actress Jennifer Lawrence in the Hunger Games saga: the same face, the same hair, the same body, the same strong character, the same way of speaking and the same determination as Katniss Everdeen.

We were soooo spoiled in the 80’s. One of the best decades ever!
Not spoiled, but children of the cold war. Party today, because there may not be a tomorrow.

@@carriemoorehead506 Don't hold this against me, but I was born in '67. I watched the Apollo 17 mission on tv. Skylab too. Dad watched the withdraw from Vietnam in '75 on tv. He served in that time. My Papa just passed away this October due to Covid. This song mysteriously started playing on my broken phone's radio along with "Every Breath You Take" by The Police (on shuffle). It might be weird but I felt it was a sign from him. I just turned 20 this year, but experiencing it gave me comfort, reminding me to not forget him and that he will just be watching as I grow old...
May he rest in peace 🙏
May he rest in peace also everytime u hear this song know he is with u listening with u .
My sister just passed this past 2018 and I keep hearing the song from The Lost Boys Cry Little Sister to the point where only I pick it up, I'm not exactly into all that paranormal trickery on tv. But I know I've had dozens of times from my mother, my sister, my Aunt, uncle and if you want to laugh go ahead with my goddamn dog as well. I lost them all in the last two weeks of 2018. Sorry for your loss my friend. There's no right or wrong way to grieve properly just when those certain songs pop on the radio, your dad is making sure that you are listening. It could just be something as simple as a memory or good time but when you remember, even if it's real or fake it's real to you. Much-loved man. Keep your head up. U will see little things for the rest of your days. 😊
