      Thanks for your comment. These jobs seem pretty simple when someone else shows you how to do it. But, unless people post these videos, the help isn't there. Glad I could be of help.

    Thank you for the info. The wife and I came home after a concert to a mystery, a broken baluster that neither our son
    or daughter did and neither know how it could have happened. My daughter suspected our dog. Nope. Anyway, now I can proceed to repair it.

      Thanks. I can neither confirm not deny if the extra spindles were due to mis-measuring on my behalf ;-)

    Probably a silly question but, can i just use ONE old spindle work out the angle for cutting 20 spindles ? or will the angles slightly vary.

    • @essentialhandyman
      @essentialhandyman  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi lloyd. Thanks for commenting.
      So long as the height between the handrail and the top of the stringer is uniform, you can use one old spindle as a template to cut out others. However, before cuting, I'd offer the old spindle up at both the top and bottom of each flight, to make sure it fits correctly. If it fits top and bottom, it should also fit in the middle.
      If the staircase has a helical winder, just offer up again on each individual baluster, to make sure the same angles have been bought around.
