Am I the only one thinking he needs to put fuel in those cars?
no, they are likely show/seldomly driven cars. the fuel will go off, especially the diesel
Maybe its cause he wants to show the best accelerations, due to the weight of the cars, if he would have full tank, the cars would be more heavy and less acceleration capable..if you know what i mean😄
Less fuel = less weight 🧠👈🏻
After 120 it's all just petrol action!
Stock cars, maybe. But with a very cheap modification, you can remove the DPF of the diesel, remap the CPU and gain 10-20% increase in performance right away while still keeping the car as reliable as stock. While on benzin fuel, you can't practically do nothing cheap to increase performance. And the diesel will run faster, have more torque low and mid range revs, and consume almost half as much fuel. So, no real debate in my mind. BTW I drive X3 3.5sd mapped to around 330 hp. Beating almost everything from traffic light to traffic light on street asphalt - less grippy I mean.
@@wildyracing1 there is always that one guy... "Oh my diesel is fAsTeR". Cool
We talking stock cars. Diesel will be quicker off the line, but slower as speed increases. I prefer High end power than low end torque in sports car. Diesel is great to daily and to race someone from lights to lights once a while.
I really don't care about economy, how much torque you got etc. I honestly don't wanna hear again about how diesel is better, because u think it is. Drove it, never liked it as much as petrol no matter what power /torque.
You like diesel, that's FINE, but I don't give a fuck. I like my gasoline.
And if diesel would be N/a there wouldn't be an easy way to increase performance. Diesel is ez to add power just because they all turbo.
If petrol is boosted stock, it can easily be tuned to 20%+ power increase too.
wildyracing1You can also modify 320i for chep
Diesel cars has longer transmission than gasoline because they have more torque and can achieve high speeds
" Very cheap modification" Swap with 2JZ :) Whatever you do, petrol engine is always faster because of its nature. Yes you can travel with diesel engine like a 19th century train.
The difference is, the diesel is always equally fast. If you shift up at 3000 rpm and just drive normally, it's as fast as it's gonna get. The petrol needs to be revved to redline if you want it to be as fast as it can be. That's why the diesel feels faster and is faster in everyday driving, and far more effortless to go fast in. 320d feels like it has at least 50-60hp more than 320i. Petrol can only keep up with diesel when you redline it and full throttle it and look like you're insane making a lot of noise. Diesel is just fast by default, no extra effort needed.
That's true, but petrol is way more fun on track and sounds better :)
Nah, because diesel engine without turbo is weak. That feeling you are having that it is 50 hp more in diesel is just because you have turbo. If you have diesel without turbo you are gonna see. And even without turbo in petrol car in this video its pretty close. If 320i had turbo like it has nowdays.... Turbo is super important because of torque.
Torque is King 👑. Diesel is 👍
Its not equally fast, it just feels faster because you got huge torque in low revs. If you rev the engine out, a equal Petrol engine (lets say 335d and 335i) is faster on paper
@@enfantterrible4868 true, you get more torque with diesel but with petrol you get more horsepower per litre. Torque is important but its a tricky thing, you feel like you are going fast but you arent so fast as you think. Bmw 320i e90 without turbo is 170hp and f30 320i has a turbo and it has only 15 horsepower more, because they want diesel and petrol to be close in performance. If they put sam settings on both, petrol is much faster.

I drive a BMW and I can confirm this
From 120km/h it’s clearly petrol territory. But actually impressive how close the 320 models were. And what’s almost more interesting how much less the Diesel sipped during the acceleration, the Petrol always was on the upper limit while the Diesel needle was more often in the upper quarter (especially at the end)
That is the point tho. Petrol engines get more torque in upper revs, which is why they dominate in racing. Diesel engines got lots of torque in the lower revs, which is why most trucks/haulers go diesel.
Are we comparing Apples with Apples though? They may both be called ‘320’ , but are they both 2000cc or similar?

@@Tom_Cruise_real Are you a bot???
I am just curious about the temperature difference. Will it make any difference about performance ?
Diesel are great for daily driving. you can go from point A to point B cheap and yes you can play a bit between traffic lights.but if you want power and some more fun then petrol engines are a must
It's kind of the opposite. Diesel engines are slower at acceleration but they have much more NM (brute power) than petrol engines. What i mean is diesels can carry more and heavier stuff with ease. Petrol engines are just fun to drive and that's all to it. Also, diesel engines are. Much more heavier than the petrol ones. Thus, petrol engines are much more suitable for driving in the city, especially in the crowded ones and the diesel engines are more suitable for driving on the highway or driving from a city to another.
So diesels are really not great for daily driving, except if you drive for hundreds or thousands of kilometers daily. Haha
@@stefaneduard8169 yes diesel engines are heavier but as you say because the have much more torque than a petrol engine their bigger mass is not a problem for pulling off of lights.moreover with diesel engines you can achieve higher mpg's which is usefull for city driving.when you are on the highway petrol engines are better because there is less engine noise
@@alexandrosbouris9587 It's the complete opposite. Diesels are meant and built for large distance monotonous driving for the system to perform under optimal efficiency and to withhold ecological standarts. If you're driving quick short burst (city driving) with a diesel, be ready for it to gunk up reasonably quickly. Not only that but it also heats up slower that way and makes it less fuel efficient than a petrol that way.

Everyone saying "It should be more even, use the lower power petrol engine." I agree. We should also turbocharge the petrol engine. It will be even faster then top end than this one is, and can be just "StAgE 2" remapped as well, same as the diesel.
Faster you say ? Let’s test a twin turbo diesel like mine and twin turbo petrol 😁 Then lets remap then and the petrol starts loosing drastically
Diesel is not made for performance... All remaps and the turbo are added to make the car driveable... Now if you are such a bad driver that you want to compare yourself to a diesel engine and whine about them having stock turbos smaller than your PP.. Oh well dude you a sick kid

Shouldn't the mileage gauge go down when your flooring it, I'm confused by the numbers.
As said difference is in mpg you measure how much miles you go on a single gallon. While at L/100km it measures how much litres you expend to go 100 kilometres. In other words higher numbers are better for mpg, while lower numbers are better for L/100km.
Why is the redline on diesel between 4.5 and 6 and on petrol 6.5 and 7 ??
Caus petrol has higher rounds per minutes, altho diesel has more power at lower rpm´s
well what can i say, diesel will always be slightly slower than petrol. Not to forget that to be performing a Diesel always needs a turbo
Yet a petrol needs to be high revving in order to perform.... Rather have a turbo, remap and 50mpg when I want it over a noisy guzzler

@@assi2assi You make a valid point brother! Every car has a top torque limit and every driver should know that point and its there that you want to shift gears not earlier and definitely not latter! And thats why less and less manuals are being produced!
2:01 why did you let off the acceleration on the diesel?
He shifted into 5th gear, but it was obviously way too soon to do that
torque band on diesel engines starts to drop on 3k
and drops miserably over 4k, on lower gears you still take advantage of the big difference in ratio, but in higher gears you have to shift earlier to get maximum accaleration, it is a weak point of diesels (they can be easely tuned to increase performance and beat the petrol, but the hi rev band will always be disappointing, they shine elsewhere)
You choke the gasoline at the end of the revolutions in diesel there is a different moment but you also have to pull it higher. I did not take this test fairly
320 m47 on 190k still pulls like a train

Torque can be converted in hp so there are two units of power when you compare a car performance those two need to be equal. In this case 20 hp more for the petrol but 100 nm more for the diesel , this comparation is pretty fair. You can’t say petrol has 20 hp more and forget about the diesel torque which is plenty over the petrol. Petrol cars are faster in any situation especially when they are turbocharged like the big v8’s and v10’s when they get a lot of torque due to turbocharging , there is no diesel around bcs they can get not nearlly as much hp as a petrol gets from a big engine.

th the difference in kilometeres on the dash i mean c'mon the diesel almost had 300k vs the other car just a bit more then half of the diesel version.165k kilometres
Petrol is great but expensive as fuck in europe and consumption is ridicoulous compared to diesel, no to mention they last less km.
Man, diesel torque is much higher than petrol, i cant understand how sucks against lower torque petrol?
😂 take the EGR out, block the "abgas-retour"-klappen, buy a new turbo and you'll have a monster-diesel at your foot ;)
i have that car :D that 320D in stock, and i can tell you it has much more power than this on the video :D
Monster diesel, but 320d sounds like crap compared to a 6 cylinder petrol
@@FStan-co8vv than pay for the actual gas price 🤪
@@user-ty8yo9gb2h Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing every day hahaha
@@FStan-co8vv 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Do a remap chip tuning on diesel, than it is chalenge for petrol.
Put a turbo on the petrol engine, do a remap chip tuning, than challenge a diesel.
on the petrol arrow diesel won))
Try 0.25x and thank me later.
your diesel is broken, block the EGR open the engine take out all that gunk and put everthing togheter and it will go to 160 without a problem, after that it will go to 200 but more slowly
Diesel 160kmh 14l/10??? throtle...:)..
