I bought a 320d a month ago, and I enjoy the car. Of course I was afraid for it to be slow, and I assume that some of you are thinking the same. But, you get okay 0-100 and very good luxury. I enjoy driving now, rather than driving like an idiot(like I used to). You drive slower, you put some music and you just cruise. It's sucha pleasure, I would recommend it to anybody. Of course my heart still wants sometimes a 500 hp under the hood, but I think I need to get some road discipline with this car and then move to a faster one

Slow 0-60??? It has a 6.7 second 0-60mph time, faster than a comparable C-class or A4. It has amazing pickup. If you think it's slow, you obviously drive with the handbrake on.

There is one thing common to those cars where the co passenger door actuator some times failing and you can only unlock the door by the keyfob(!). The n47 does sound loud, but in my case, with the B47TÜ1 which is the november 2017-present version which added a twin-turbo system and adblue injection (SCR), it is immensely smooth and refined, effortless acceleration. Cruising at 90km/h (55mph) at 1300rpm is pure joy, averaging 2.7l/100km (104mpg). Next to no NOx coming out of the tailpipe and a wonderful auto-start/stop system. I couldn't have chose a better car.
Also in my experience, the Steptronic version (especially the Sport Steptronic as seen on my 320d) are far smoother than the 6-speed manual 320d.

What you BMW 2.0d fanboys don't realise is by the time the 190bhp engine (187ps in reality) blasts it's way through a CAT, DPF, EGR, and all the other restrictions it's already lost 50bhp. My 2.2D is 152ps on Euro 3 and doesn't have a DPF and all the other crap to restrict it. It's also got a high overboost feature. So it runs more true to its claims and just as fast as any 180bhp diesel. I had a 175bhp Toyota T180 engined Lexus Is220d (2.2 FTV-2AD) which had the same performance as the 152bhp 2.2D engine from Ford. My Lexus lost 25bhp through its suffocating exhaust restrictions. But Manufacturers deliberately do that. They add 20bhp to compensate for restricting 20bhp. Which ends up no faster and consumes more fuel. I learned this after I had the FTV 2AD Toyota engine. To me, BMW engines are only worth it if you plan to get 6 cylinders. In other words a proper BMW. All these 318d and 320d are just tractors like every other 4 pot diesel.
