My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

Penny is adorable. She dead-stares at you, when you give her an option her answer is always YES! Is it just me or is the very definition of irony that Matthew hung a sticker about Life Unplugged and yet he owns more kitchen appliances than most full size kitchens? No? Just me??? You do make me laugh when you're chunnering away to all inanimate objects. I do the same thing. And I never install something just once...I have no idea why...

A suggestion for those hot day’s & one of my favourites - mix yoghurt with a little maple syrup, slivered almonds, coconut, and a fruit; I luv using frozen cherries - place in freezer until lightly frozen. So good & healthy for you.❤

Keep up the great work on your channel, Penny is a an amazing cat with her responses.
Just a tip: adding a flat washer to those self-tappers will avoid the net from curling around the tapper screws. The washers will also increase the grip on the net.
Good job on getting organized - your home is looking great. Hope you and Penny are able to keep cool during this long heat wave. In addition to you keeping hydrated, please make sure Penny is drinking her water and that you give her cool water too - maybe an ice cube in her water bowl from time to time.

It’s (in the words of one of The Eagles greatest songs) such a Peaceful Easy Feeling spending time with you and Miss Penny just doing your stuff and enjoying life. I feel very envious of your lifestyle, and really wish that I had made a sensible decision a decade ago and made the move into van life. I enjoy the no rushing around, using space wisely to make Lucky a gorgeous home, and of course play moments with Penny -so cute when she was too blissed out to rabbit kick you with both back paws ❤. ps for some reason, the CZcams algorithm and her pals, totally wiped you from my notifications, even after multiple attempts of my high tech algorithm tweakments, such as unsubscribing and resubscribing, and yes, press the bell sessions. @VanlifePLUS, Matthew, When I wear anything on my feet it's only Crocs. I've been wearing them exclusively for over 20 years. They do "stretch" as you wear them. So they will get a bit larger and looser with time. I always buy one size smaller because of this. If you buy them according to the size shoe you wear, they become very loose on the foot and have a tendency to fall off while walking. Normally I would wear an 11.5 shoe, so I buy size 10 Crocs, and they fit perfectly once "broken in."

the screws he is using are actually "self-drilling" screws, not "self-tapping" ( may be different in Canada) but it should say self-drilling on the box. self-tappers are for holes already drilled and are used to put a thread on the hole. The only reason I know this is because a vender schooled me on this when I asked for self-tappers instead of the correct type
Got a snotty lecture on this from a Lowe's worker recently. Thing is, I really did want tappers.😂😂

I too ran into a paper towel holder issue in my camper trailer so I actually mounted it on the wall vertical and not a problem after that.

My vet just sent this to me today about rule changes w pets into USA

As you may be aware, the USA is changing the rules for pets entering their country. We have been diligently following, and awaiting further instruction on how to assist you with your travel plans when they include your furry family members. However, there has been some issues with the documents they are requiring and our CFIA veterinarians are unable to endorse them.
We will continue to monitor this issue closely, and as soon as we have further information we will let you all know! For now, we caution against any USA travel with your pet until everything is ironed out between the CDC & CFIA.

Those Temptations cat treats are really bad for their teeth. They are like sugar and cats can't brush their teeth. My cat boots lost all her teeth in three different dentist visits because we used to use these to bribe her to come inside at night.
Where do you charge your batteries when you have bad weather for days at a time and not much sun?
I think he wired his alternator to be charged by Lucky’s engine when he drives. You have to have some wiring knowledge for that, which I certainly don’t 😅
