  • In this week's DAF truck trouble diary we have:
    Adblue Dosing Valve Fault
    were delving into troubleshooting methods and step-by-step repairs to ensure we get to the bottom of the fault from last weeks video.
    * That DPF issue.*
    what can I say! I was wrong, it wasn't the seals it was the cleaned DPF That caused the soot issue....always get new is the lesson from this I suppose
    * Leaking Injector Sleeves:*
    The customer states fuel in the coolant so we're going to use my testing methodology to diagnose this and identify which ones are the issue....question is where to go next with it!

    This channel must be gratefull for 'DAF' cos thanks to the rubbish 'quality' of daf (Paccar) lotsa updates are possible.
    I remember breaking 3 dafs (MX11) in 4 hours.... All overheated somehow without kickdown... maybe i strained them by redlining it continually.
    After that i was prohibited to get onto a daf an i got a old knackered MAN.... no trouble at all anymore.

    Hi ..i have been away , so you have had a rest from me lol...I would say if the injector is secure the the sleeve can not move up ...Though not in your case ...I have had a few heads when sent away ,as we send all heads away some come back with sleeve issues, but they never had issues before the injectors where removed ,so my theory is sometimes the actal removal of the injector causes the issue,,i rotate the injector before removal to break the "O" seals grip but it doesnt always work ..What i do not know is what changes have been made as the original MX never had any sleeve issues ,,Looking forward to seeing what happens with those other engines ..Also apart from you are a massive loss to the dealer network ,i watch your videos as they are interesting ,i enjoy your methodical approach to faults,and everybody can learn from everybody ,even if it is a different way to diagnoise a fault that may be quicker...You should have a parts list / catalogue somewhere of the kit you sell ,so it is easier to find exactly what you have

      Ha ha ha I thought you had been quiet mate! I've seen very few injector sleeve issues and they are usually from some sort of other issue such as overheating.
      I've had an injector sleeve in my hand this week and I thought they would be thicker! And I thought the sleeve would have a bottom to it but it's hollow like a tube!
      I've still got the other engines to do this week.
      I love trying to help or bring people on through videos and funny enough the IMI has just invited me to participate in their 'More to Motor' campaign to encourage talent into the industry so so fingers crossed I will still be able to do my part even if I'm independent now and not under the all mighty DAF banner.
      As for the stuff I sell, it is all on the site over at www.trucktechuk.com/shop-1. If I don't think it's worth using I wouldn't sell it for other techs

    Great Vid as per usual Bruv, sad day when the manufacturer (who install the injector sleeves at the factory) say they ain't replaceable, will be interesting to see if you/Matt can actually buy them, if ya can and want to have a go at replacing them obviously advise customer NO Warranty, it's a if it works Mint if not well we tried the cheaper option is the go. Might just be cheaper in the long run to replace the head, taking it off, replacing the squirter sleeves, new head gasket clean up, etc etc and it doesn't work, back doing the same job again, will add a considerable expense. keep us up to date even with just a mention on a separate vid on what happens with these type of jobs, or even a once a month Recap Vid where ya let us know the outcomes of jobs that you only diagnose etc.
    Man Hugs sent bruv keep at it 🙂

      Hey John, yes its been the case since Euro-6 that its not the done thing at DAF to replace them but then who wants to go down the road of buying a new head every time this sort of thing happens!? I’ve a supplier I’m going to see tomorrow who I’ve dealt with before who has them so fingers crossed I come away from there with 2 new sleeves. As you say it will be a suck it and see with fitting them and rebuilding it all. But it has to be cheaper than a new head.
      I’m hoping the format of video means I can go back to customers a week later or even keep people in the loop on the jobs. As always john thanks for the comment buddy 😎👌

    Is that coolant going through that add blue dosing module ?? 😂
    Guess it stops the addblue jet clogging up, crystallising... that right...

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Před 13 dny

      Hey Andy thanks for the comment buddy.
      Yes, mate this dosing valve has coolant to it
      .
      The way the pump works now compared to previous versions is once upon a time the truck used air to blow the AdBlue through the dosing valve which as you state, blocks up, crystallizes ect.
      The newer system (this one) pumps the adblue to the dosing valve to create pressure but at ignition off, the motor gets reversed, this draws all the AdBlue from the line and the dosing valve purging it. So technically that line shouldn't contain any fluid after ignition off.
      I've not checked the reason for the coolant at the dosing valve so you could be quite right but my only guess is it's to keep the injector solenoid body cool during operation as the temperature of the dosing valve must be rather hot 🔥 especially if it was doing a stationary regeneration or PTO work 🤔

      I've used texa a few times but last week I was called out to regenerate a daf lf as texa couldn't do it which I found odd.
      Adblue must be the biggest con going 😅😅😅 as for making a few quid....I should charge more lol

    • @hedgehunting
      @hedgehunting Před 17 dny +1

      @TRUCKTECHUK I don't think it's a matter of texa won't do it. Texa has safety parameters that need to be removed in order to allow them sort of things to be able to be done.
      We're in the the process of getting them removed off our texa at the moment as our dpf filter split in half like that one you did. Will see whether it resets a dpf then 😂..

      10 trucks at my place 8 scania and 2 daf, we have had more issues with the 2 daf than the rest of the fleet put together, xf now needs a new silencer pack 18k! I worked for daf for 10 years and really rated the product (loved the xe engine) then in 2006 the mx came out, fine for 12 months then the problems started, and they have never managed to get them right 18 years later.

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Před 15 dny +1

      @TRUCKTECHUK I think the first one was new, not 100% about the one that only lasted a month. I think if it does it again, I'm gonna stick a genuine Daf one in. We had the full exhaust reconditioned just after Christmas this year. we have had a couple of trucks done at the same place, but this one is the only one we have nothing but trouble with. Yeah £650 bit steep as well buying a new dpf too they sure know how to charge at daf 😆.
