PHILIPS SKIPPER FM RL558 | ALL TRANSISTOR RADIO | INTERNAL ASSEMBLY

One of the earliest FM set introduced by Philips india, all transistor FM tuner inside. Here you can watch a detailed view of the internal assembly.
This set was a bit noisy I believe -maybe because they used FM telescopic antenna for Shortwaves also, instead of a magnetic loop which offered better noise free reception like in legendary Commander models. The all transistor FM tuner wasn't great I believe, maybe needed some improvements :-)

No, it was a success only in FM, not in other bands. I am telling it from my experience. Then I was 20 years old. Two shopkeepers near my place who bought it repented a lot. It was no better than even Commander and old Skipper in MW and SW. I had seen the results myself. Philips company stopped this immediately as the performance was just average in AM and there was no FM in many parts then.

Brand new condition & biggest circuit with gig sound filters.... This was the only best one transistor, I have same one.
