I dont understand where the microphone is on these earbuds?
It is on the part with the volume buttons.
Where do they plug in the desktop
They plug in the headphone port. Some computers will support the headphones and the mic at the same time. You will sometimes see a headphone and microphone icon next to the port designating that it works with both at the same time.
