Those old Sega arcade games kick ass and bring back so many good memories from my childhood in my old neighborhood. The old bowling alley down the street from my house (Space Harrier, Moon Walker, Thunder blade!), the 7-11 over by the school (Slurpees, nachos n cheese and Altered Beast!), the movie theatre with the big arcade room - (Shinobi, After Burner, Hang on, Golden Axe!). I really miss the arcades. Thanks Sega for all those great memories!
Battletoads is on our list for a future Left in the Arcade since it showed up after the NES version and is it's own unique game.
Hey Gamesack! I like your show.
Maybe in Arcade VS Console 4? Looks like it didn't make the cut for 3.
Game Sack is best online gaming series! Seriously.
for damn sure
Except for the personality lacking hosts and that god awful intro.
Well you do you. They do go very far into depth when they review games and that's why I watch them.
We're back on our two week schedule. The next episode will be one that has been requested quite often. Actually it will be part 1 and part 2 will follow a few episodes after. Expect some amazing games to be covered!
TMNT II for the Arcade was awesome! I remember playing this in Pizza Hut on my
10th birthday with my friends. We had an awesome time! Great game!
honestly one of the best gaming channels ever...you seem to hit all the right notes. I'm so excited to watch this video. thanks and Peace
Game Sack marathon time again!
"For whatever reason they called it Super C" My guess would be Oliver North and the mass hysteria going on at the time about the Iran Contra affair. "Contra" was a Negative Buzzword!
+k Porter946286 This was also the case with Operation C on the Game Boy
k Porter946286 that makes a lot of sense 👍
Good call
That scene of the tank still firing on you even after you're dead is about how a lot of video games make me feel
Loved it. We'll definitely cover it and compare it to the arcade and SMS at somepoint.
My mom is a battletoad
I'm kind of surprised you haven't done more of these Arcade vs Console episodes. It's a great subject & there's of course TONS of content to cover! I really hope to see more of these in the future.
Glad to see you back!. Thanks for the episode, enjoyed every minuet of it as usual.
I'm always happy when I see another Game Sack video uploaded because I know there's a ton of quality for 20-30 minutes!
loving this series !!! you guys are onto something ...please keep making more ! cant wait for Game Sack - Arcade vs Console 3 !! and more
Love your videos. Glad to have you back!
Really guys, your show is amazing! Keep up the excellent work and thanks for the entertainment!
Yup. Was in the hospital for 6 days as it was quite severe. Glad to have it gone.
Came here from Arcade Vs Console 3 & good lord you can immediately tell this is a throwback! Love it tho, could watch Game Sack all day!
Super awesome! I really love these videos and would love to see more!
Could tell by his voice that Joe was still recovering when most of this was shot (or, at least, when the audio was being done). Hope you're back to 100 percent soon! Thanks a lot for a great episode!
Finally New Episode... Love you guy's
Im glad to see both of you guys happy, healthy and creating amazing videos!
Found this channel recently, just wanted to say thanks, love your work and am going through all your videos :)
Great episode as usual, never stop talking about classic games guys!
I love the episodes you do like these and regional differences, theyre my favorite. hopefully more similar videos in the future:)
Glad to see you guys doing well! welcome back
great video guys, really like the selection of titles you included and good to see my old buddy PC Engine featuring. Must check out episode 1!
You know, I have been watching your channel for years and I have to say....your content is always excellent. I have now gotten to the point that I automatically upvote everything you do. Joe, you have the best gaming channel on CZcams bar none.
I've always enjoyed your videos and this one is the best so far. You truly have gotten better at not sounding really weird. Good job and keep up the good work.
Firstly, I hope you're both feeling better, especially you, Joe.
Today is my birthday, so what an awesome way to start it before heading off to sleep.
Episodes keep getting better every couple weeks. Thanks for all the entertainment!
Great video. I am glad you're both ok and have recovered. To soften the gap between episodes I've been watching the online 3 part interview you guys did. It has proven very interesting and great to learn a little more about your lives and the filmmaking process you do. I'd love to see a 'short' episode sometime that shows your equipment and each process step. Toss in glimpses of your game libraries/game rooms!
Great ending. I always stay up on Saturdays to watch the show as soon as it's uploaded.
Just another great video from you guys, you made my day! Really interesting to see all the ports, in some cases I knew the port, in others the arcade. Nice to see them all together and well organized :D
Aaah, a Game Sack video. This day just got a whole lot better!
You always deliver when I least expect it!
Love your show! Good job guys! Greetz from Italy!
I was just thinking it's been a while since I saw an episode! Made my day!! Stay healthy guys!
Good work, really like your show. Good start to my sunday!
al fin ! finaly ! finalement ! it´s good to have you back guys !
glad you guys are back and nice episode
It's great to see you back in action after all your health issues as always it was a great episode, greetings from Chile.
Also. Great job on these videos guys. Probably my favorite show on youtube right now :)
I love this series guys! Reminds me of when me and my best friend LP together. Makes me wish me and him had more time to do stuff these days.
Glad that you guys are ok and feeling better!
really enjoying the arcade vs console videos.
Another awesome episode!
23:53 The NES hardware only scrolls left & right natively, vertical scrolls take special programming EG. Mega Man dropoffs, and 8-way scrolling on the NES takes a programming god jsyk. Even if they had more money I doubt they would find that rare individual Joe. Great show btw, you two have more tech knowledge than most reviewers.
or specialized chips included in the cartridge, which is how Super Mario Bros. 3 pulls off its diagonal scrolling.
one of my favorite parts of your series is when u go back and talk about topics you have previously covered
Glad to hear you guys are doing well after all the health issues, and this was a great episode, but I think you guys should do another episode on all handheld games, from consoles that don't get covered as much like the GameGear, Lynx, Nokia N-Gage, etc..
Missed you guys last week!
Yay your back! And I hope you both heal well!
Now that's a fine sack!
Haha, I couldn't resist, seriously, great videos :D
yay! your back. hope you guys are doin well. love the show!
haha that jump in Shinobi for the sega master system....it stirred a dark and ancient memory in me lol
Game Sack has quickly become my favorite video game show. You guys are fair and unbiased despite your fanboy running gag in most episodes. Both of you appreciate the classics and the not so classics, worts and all! Glad the surgery went well and keep up the great work.
The SNES only had hardware support for scaling the background. Any sprite scaling was done through software just like it was on the Genesis.
i really wish i could see more of these! show us the differences between the old arcade classics like pacman, space invaders, frogger etc!
E.Swat: “you run down the street just shooting everything you see.”
Just like a real cop! 👍
killing skaters too
Good to you guys are in good health, this was a welcome late night surprise episode. Wow, the arcade games featured this episode were some of my favorites (especially TMNT). I remember being stunned at the continue screen of Ninja Gaiden, like damn it's not bad enough they kill you, but they strap you to a table and watch as a saw blade slowly descends, and it's up to you to hustle another quarter to save the guy, damn. You should tackle Black Tiger/Black Dragon.
Right on! I second all the game you listed! Great game list suggestion!
Great reviews of these old games, and I liked the comparison across the ports. In those days the difference between arcade hardware and home consoles was so much greater than today.
Hey sorry I'm looking at these out of order but hope y'all continue to be in functioning health! great vids! :)
Another great job! Thank you guys!
No prob! Glad you enjoy!
I'm so glad you guys are back and healthy :D
This is epic! i dont use to comment on videos but i just wanted to say that your show is amazing, one of the best productions ive ever seen here. PD: AlphaOmegaSin has commented on your video! Thats nice, im a fan of him :) Excuse my poor english, im from Venezuela.
Thumbs up, deciding to watch this episode after my gallbladder surgery. First day back home.
Welcome Back! It's good to see E-Swat get some attention. Although the Genesis version is hard, I think it controls quite well once you've practiced hovering with the burner. It rewards some memorization and practice and is a great test of skill as the levels get very hard. I consider it one of those overlooked games, such as the ones you covered awhile back.
I wish I had seen Thunderblade in an arcade as a child. I would have loved it.
I also had thunder blade at launch for the genesis! Thanks a lot for the memories!
Great series guys! Just a few notes: The arcade version of TMNT is included as a hidden bonus game in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. It was also release for the Xbox 360's Live Arcade, but has since been removed. In addition, there was also a NES based port of Ninja Gaiden on the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for SNES. Keep up the great work!
Great to see you again, this was a fine come-back! :)
Ninja Gaiden scrolls as it does in the PCE version since that console only has one background layer, so they fake the parallax scrolling by adding frames to the background. Sonic 3 & Knuckles does similar things, but to fake a third background layer.
Love the series :D
It's good to get my fill of Sack back!
This is a great topic and one you should definitely return to. I like how Sega made different games of their home ports, so for that reason I'd like to see Shadow Dancer feature. Also, a Gradius/Salamander/Parodius megafeature would be good!
another fun filled video guys. Well done. I'd say if you are looking for ideas on the next arcade to console vid, try the neogeo. There are some really good conversions for the snes, genesis and pc engine of some of the neogeo's arcade games. it would be nice to see comparisons of fatal fury 2 on pc engine stacked up against the genesis and neo originals. Or even sam shodown on the 3do in comparison to the arcade. Cant wait to see what you have in store for the next vid. keep up the good work.
Always awesome to wake up and see a turbo grafx t shirt , great episode guy's excellent to see some shinobi and e SWAT some system 16 legends
Great start on my Swedish sunday. I like you guys.
This video is 10 years old...
Damn time goes so fast
When I was a kid I had ninja gaiden for genesis, and I remember that it was a full version, i've even finished it, loved this game, there also was some sort of code, when the level starts you have to press start and then one of the buttons a,b or c, I don't remember exactly and this code allows you to enter another stage, love your show guys, keep it up)
Great job, again! Thanks guys.
I should've watched 2 minutes further, as you do tackle arcade Vs home, and that was when things really started to change. Nice!
Yup! I wish I could have talked about that but I couldn't get to the last guy when I played it for this episode. That damn jump is where I had to call it a day. But I did beat it long ago and I remember just staring at the "ending" screen in disbelief.
Great episode as always, made me come back and watch the first part. Please keep on bringing Sega goodness! It would be great if you'd mention Rambo 3 in your next Arcade vs Console episode, it seems to have so many ports...
+Game Sack I actually used to have the Lynx version of Ninja Gaiden. To jump on that pipe, push the button called "option 1", if I remember correctly. It might actually be option 2 and you might also have to hold up on the d-pad.
Wonderful and very well made series! Turtles kicks ass on both Arcade and NES...
Every week without game sack makes Baby Mario Cry... Looking forward to next week's episode. :)
I remember having the Ninja Turtles 2 the Arcade on day one...I was such a dork. The game came literally packaged with a free pizza offer at Puzza Hut which I promptly got my mom to get on our way home with the game.
Those multicolored shots on the arcade's Spread Shot are awesome. If only the nes version had that.
Those t-shirts are effin awesome. VERY nice.
George 'The Arcade Kid' says 'Thanks' Joe...He's around 50 now, but during the mid 80's to the late 90's, he would go from arcade to arcade fixing machines and helping kids learn the 'Tricks & Trades' of arcade games...He remembers a frustrated lil' Joe kicking a Shinobi machine...'Those were that days", George says.
Woo! New episode!
Great video as usual!
TMNT: Turtles in time to the SNES and Genesis ports would be fun to discuss. They may have different names but are pretty much the same game technically.
Great vid! Keep it up!
I got my gallbladder taken out a couple years ago! I was in pain for about 12 hours and was on my way to work , but instead of stopping I said what the hell screw work and just kept going straight to the hospital! When I got there they told me it was about to rupture! Lucky I went there instead of work! Lol
Great episode
glad that both of you are better now.
GAME SACK BECAME MY FAVORITE VIDEO GAME CHANNEL! So much nostalgia. Hey guys why don't you dedicate an episode for magazines like GamePro on those days of Sega vs Nintendo thanks!
where have you guys been , i always enjoy your videos
I'm sad that arcades are now obsolete... :(
Icy Frizier Almost, but not quite. They're still out there.
I think the main appeal of arcades in the 80’s and 90’s was that they did things that were impossible for home consoles at the time. Games like Outrun in ‘85 and Daytona USA in ‘94 were generations ahead of consoles, nothing even came close. The moment arcades stopped being cutting edge was the moment arcades died. Somehow they’re still super popular in Japan. I think that’s just a cultural thing though.
superkami guru 9
Oh yes. Definitely want to cover that one.
