  • Aleyka and I are trying jackfruit for the first time. We finally got to taste Kerala jackfruit. We have never been in India when the jackfruit is ripe, so we never had the opportunity to taste it. I was very surprised by the mild flavor. It is so delicious and I think it has become my favorite fruit. I wish I could get it back home.

Visiting South Asias biggest Fruit tree nursery in Kanjirapally may be a thrilling experience. Plus beautiful land, its like being in Hawaii at one hundredth of the cost, and definitely quality caring , now since you two are distinguished guests. You can plant a medium sized tree and in three years when you come back, it will be full of fruit, no snow or scorching sun to knock it off.

I remember my in-laws at Kottayam using an axe to cut open the jackfruit, raw or ripe. During the jackfruit season, raw ones are cooked for breakfast accompanied with any curry or pickle. Few are fried to make chips. Ripe fruits are consumed as it is or preserved to make delicacies like "ada" later on. I enjoy watching your videos. 👍

Almost all the asian supermarkets carry jackfruit. Many of the regular grocery stores carry it too these days.

@@WorldOfAnAdventure it used to be anywhere from $1.50 to $2.50 /lb but now it is going to be 3X with the inflation and when you buy a whole jackfruit it is easily 20lb. Many stores cut them up and sell small pieces too. I live by the border now and we can get a whole jackfruit for under $10 from local vendors.
