As someone who works in manufacturing I can tell you that the traceability of materials and work is insane. All the bows are serial numbered and so to would every batch be from the limb side of things. Mathews would know already which serial numbered bows are failing due to the claims process. With that information we are literally talking a few key strokes on a PC to be able to bracket what parts from what batches went onto those bows. The simple thing then is to put out a recall on bows from serial number x to serial number y, have them returned to their dealer and inspected by a tech. If anything is detected its fixed. This is super important because it is transparent, fixes all the compromised bows and validates the bows outside of the recall range as being AOK so that those people don't lose resale value and confidence in their bows. Sorting bows on a fix it if it breaks basis with vague statements about materials is weak these days. You say they go after 50 shots. Tell that to a guy who nearly got divorced because he bought one and has fired 300. He'll sell that bow and Mathews better cross their fingers that this 50 shots thing is true because now they have ticking time bombs out their. They can keep their reputation right now and do thing properly OR they can let bows float around out their doing reputational damage for how long? some guys simply don't or can't shoot that much. It might be next year that this happens. Does the warranty transfer on a sold bow? I don't know but if it doesnt, do you think the next guy that gets stung and maybe not looked after as well, is going to just accept it and not go on a rant?
Phase 4's didn't have this problem and they had split limbs. The Lifts have a significantly lighter riser? How do we know those split limbs weren't already on the limit and are now going over the edge due to induced limb pocket vibration? Is it happening on 80lb mods, does it happen on 60 lb at all? They need to do better than vague statements and fix it if it breaks mentality. That'll just hurt consumers and the company and no one wants to see that.
Same boat here. Found it very strange they wouldnât just recall the faulty batches if they seemingly know which ones they are. Risking a limb failure while a customer is using it is unacceptable if it can be prevented.
A couple people online and a friend of mine shot it at 60 and the limbs still failed. What I did notice was this is mainly happening to the 33s
Mine failed after 3 days (aug12 purchase date) of getting my 33, 75# 31.5DL. Itâs back at the shop waiting and will be sold. Back to my trusty 2019 PSE Evoke 35
i called Mathews to ask if they could proactively swap out my limbs instead of waiting for the limbs to break on one of my three hunts coming up and their response was: (copied and pasted from email sent to me) ''We are not unfortunately going to just replace limbs that do not need it. With it being a very very random thing most Lift owners will not experience any issues, so you can shoot your bow with confidence." The response was very short of leaving me with any confidence in my first Mathews bow. Theres a lot number/batch number they can chase down like you said with a few key strokes which would make alot of lift owners a bit more "confident" in the bows they purchased.
I discovered the beginning stages of a limb split on my 33 this morning. Purchased in June of this year, maybe 450 arrows through the bow.
After reading your comment, I called Mathews and inquired about that batch and serial numbers, and the issuance of a recall on serial numbers associated with that batch of limbs. The customer service representative told me that they are not able to track which batch went to which serial numbers.
Bought my lift 33' 70lbs draw 7/29/2024, less than 200 shots and i had two limbs splinter top and bottom. It was back in the shop 8/8/2024. Currently waiting on the warranty repair. Feeling betrayed and robbed after what they charge for these things plus accessories. I trust that bow now about as far as I can throw it..........Should've stuck with Hoyt.
My Hoyt limbs cracked too, and apparently it is common with them as well.
Considering that the limb issue spans from first bows delivered to influencers and dealers too current arrivals I would have to say itâs not just a bad batch!
Exactly. And they know exactly what batch of limbs went on what bows and where they were sent. Itâs bs
I donât care how good the warranty is. If my bows limbs crack the day before a hunt or in the middle of the hunt, Iâm going to be PISSED. Iâm not going to lose 3+ days to get limbs shipped, my bow fixed, tuned, and sighted in when I have a limited time to hunt and be satisfied just because it was under warranty. Yes I have a back up bow. But youâre charging a premium on your bow and accessories. It shouldnât fail under normal use.
THIS ^
I have not had any issues with my lift limbs after several hundred shots, but Iâve already decided if I even have to replace a single set of limbs ( unless somehow they produce something that is actually different than whatâs already on them ), Iâm punting the bow. Itâs a confidence thing for me. I know the warranty is great, but for my budget I have a lot invested in this bow. I canât have my confidence in whether the limbs are going to hold up be a concern when Iâm hours away from home on a hunt.
@@justinlusk86I feel the same, which sucks because I really love my shot with this bow.
@@derekarnold8072i love my shot too with this bow itâs almost cheating how well i shoot this bow in comparison to past bows i keep an eye on them and check them before i shoot and as im shooting i also have a backup bow if needed but i love this bow and so far have had no issues out of it
Any man made product can fail at any time. Now if they told you to get bent, that's a bad company. They're standing behind their product and taking care of it, what else could you ask for?
Could ask for limbs not to fail so commonly â@@WesP73
As a guy who had a one-time oopsie with his Matthews lift the day after he bought it, I can confirm that Matthew's fixed it even though it was my fault. Great company
The big problem that is going to come is the second hand value of these bows is going to take a nose dive as the warranty is only to the first owner.
They just release a letter on Aug 15 stating the warranty follows the bow
đ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€Źđ€ŹMatthewâs can suck it. Just got my bow Monday, Aug 12 2024 and the limbs are cracked already 16 Aug 2024z. Itâs gonna be weeks according to my local bow shop. Warranty or not, this is bs and everyone should get a refund and not have to wait weeks to get their bow back because theyâre gonna miss hunting time. If I would have known, I wouldnât have got it.

Thanks for the video guys
Luv the iPad playing a fire in front of the wood burning stove, wonder how many viewers will notice. Still love Mathews and their customer service is 2nd to none.
I didn't notice until I saw your comment đ
Mathews should know exactly what bows were affected, you shouldn't have to "shoot it at the dealer" to find out.

Tim and Josh were SO OFF on their guesses about Dudley!! đ
Were they? They said someone tiny, or someone huge like Mathews. Pretty sure Hoyt still fits into that latter category
I heard from my bow guy that Dudds is rifle hunting only. He is tired of the stick and string
@@manbearpig8971 Yeah right... that's ridiculous.
The impressive part of Mathews is the fact you can still get parts
I bought my lift in Dec last year 80lb 30.5â. Had thousands of shots through it before one of the bottom limbs splintered in June. Got it back and within 3 weeks the other bottom limb splintered. (Both bottom limbs were replaced when the first one splintered) Just got it back last week so we will see how it does.
My shop said the limbs had specific placement instructions this time. Bottom shelf side, bottom non shelf side, top shelf, top non shelf. They had never seen them come like that before.
I love shooting the thing, so hopefully this is it.
@@brianbaures6409 have the exact same scenario with mine. Bought in December and top limbs cracked in June after thousands of arrows. Now on second set and they cracked. Supposedly getting a full set this week
@@coltongibson7519 Hopefully it works out for you. So far have I have a few hundred arrows through mine and things are looking good. đđ»
I just noticed my Lift 33 has a splinter in the bottom limb. Really disappointed this happened. I shoot almost every day and every weekend I attend a 3d shoot somewhere. I would not have noticed it, but my pro shop informed me to inspect the limbs frequently as they have noticed customers returning these bows with limb failures. The failure occurs near the limb pocket. I shoot the bow at 60lbs with a 420 grain arrow.
I have a V3 27 and the limbs cracked July 12. I brought it to my shop (Lucky Shot in Chehalis Wa) and they had to order new limbs from Mathews. Lucky Shot had them installed and bow ready for pick up July 17th.
My bow was from the first 5 that hit my shops doors in November, bought it early December, roughly 8000 shots thru it and Friday night it finally let go. It's not resolved or certain batches
I got mine in April. I have shot at least 2,000 arrows with it, and I checked the limbs at least once a week. My bow was fine until last week. I found splinters, took it to my shop, and they posted a never dryfire your bow story on Instagram. Every shot I have fired has been with an arrow. Facts. The warranty is good. They are fixing it, but trying charge me a pro tune fee of $150. Shops are capitalizing off of these failures. Real shit. It's a good bow. It was fine until it wasn't. Mathews honors their warranties. If they have fixed the problem. Good. The real problem is shops capitalizing off of a problem they know exists and charging people to fix the problem that is warranted.
Yeah, I'd tell them to send that bill to the Manufacturer.
Iâd tell him to take that piece of shit back and I would take my money to another company. I have shot my RX seven Hoyt at least 10,000 times a year for the last three years and thatâs probably on the low side and there isnât even the possibility that one of my limbs have cracked. There is absolutely no reason for you to spend multiple thousands of dollars on a flagship bow and have any part of it fail in such a magnificent way. All of the people that are trying to play this off like itâs material and not a design error are high as a Georgia Pine! The last Matthews bow before this one had the same problems just not as often. When thousands of these bows are blowing up and the limbs are cracking that is proof that they did a terrible job at designing the bow flat out. They didnât shoot it or test it enough before they released it.
I hope you have another shop in your area i would never give them another penny
I got Excalibur crossbows. Had both for 10 years. Broke both limbs on one bow. There customer service is great. They even warranty the scope for lifetime.
If my shop tries to charge me a fee, Iâm gonna file with bbb for a full refund
I work at a pro shop. Pro formed my Lift 33 when they dropped and I got my bow June 1st. Since then I have had three limb replacements. First one on the bottom set, havenât had a problem with them since. Then a week after I replaced them, my top set cracked. Got new ones for the top set, shot it for another month or so, and just barely had them crack again. I replaced them about a week ago. Talked to Mathews to see whatâs up and everything they told me has been different from what everyone else is saying on the internet. Definitely a flop this year from the company, but Iâve been a Mathews supporter for almost my entire archery career and have never had an issue. I would not be surprised to see Mathews address handle the issue and be just fine next year. Still sucks though..
A year ago I found my 20+ yr old Matthews Ovation developed a split in the limb fork by the wheel. I wondered if a new limb would even be available, but 2 weeks later I had a new set of limbs from Matthews free as a warrantee replacement.
The problem is much more wide spread. My lift was purchased last November and splintered in July. The cause of the âwaveâ is that the problem was high lighted and caused more people to pay attention to their limbs. Many people probably had a splinter for months and never noticed. But the âbad batchâ theory doesnât fly.
Exactly. If it was a bad batch, theyâd know exactly which bows got them, and where they were sent to and recall them. Itâs bs. 3 days with mine at 75# and theyâre cracked and back at the bow shop to get replaced. Gonna sell when I get it back
Ordered a Lift 33 January 22, 2024. Received said Lift June 26. As of August 9 now is sitting at the shop with the limb crack.
âItâs been resolvedâ sounds great but there are lots of people that are on their second and third set of limbs.
What it boils down to is Josh is going to say whatever Mathews tells him to say. He is also full of shit about it only just now happening. i know of two people that received their's before christmas that had the limb issue
I purchased a lift 33 in March this year, so far, no problem more than 1000 arrows nothing but I love the bow
Got my second set put on yesterday. Have 50 shots through it now which beats the 38 it had before the previous limbs split. It feels way better and more solid with these new limbs somehow so that grows a touch of confidence.
However, 2 other guys literally came in holding their bows and another guy called on the phone about the same thing while I was there. I was only there 2 hours and witnessed 3 others with limb issues. I asked the owner, and to date, they sold 163 Lifts.
The biggest problem with this LIFT issue ................ resale/trade value are destroyed for the LIFT. Once more and more hear about the limb issue, eBay values on the LIFT, if you can sell it, will be low low low. I just dumped two LIFTS because of this. Next year, I don't want to be able to get $350 (or maybe less) for my LIFT. Used LIFTS will be a HUGE risk for buyers. It is great that Mathews is so responsive to the original buyer, but to the used buyer this is a giant risk.
Just to provide another data point - I purchased my lift 33 shortly after launch in November. Have 2,000+ shots over the last 9 months (most of which were at 80 lbs) and limbs are fine. I know multiple people shooting lifts and haven't heard of a single person experiencing this issue anywhere besides the internet. If I do have a problem I know mathews will stand by their product based on past first hand experience.
Read through the comments and count how many have the issue. Add 2 for me. Then come back and say itâs not a problem.
Yep thought the same thing until it happened to me this weekend
@@mackstrate6235 Nowhere in my comment did I say there isnât problem. Just stated my personal experience. Maybe only people with issues should post so the problem seems much worse
Mine was fine till this last weekend as well. At full draw, I heard and felt a âdinkâ noiseâŠ. Thought something had fell from above and hit my bow. Nope, just a splintered limb. Problem is, out of all the friends I have that are into archery, none of them have a more recent flagship bow from any manufacturer. Not everyone personally knows multiple people with brand new Lifts.
Commenting as I'm watching, so if this is covered please ignore. If this is caused from a known bad batch of material, does mathews not have that documented and can issue a recall based on serial?
I bought a 29.5 lift running 80lbs and cracked all 8 limbs. They were very fast at replacing them over at cabin fever sporting goods in Victoria MN. Mathewâs was on top of it which was really cool of them. Free of charge
How long ago were they fixed
The thing is these bows are having issues days and months after having them , it's not going to be well if you have a bad batch it will pop on the shop kinda deal , there's several people on sets 3 and 4 of limbs ? Josh is suppose to be a major person in the archery world but hasn't heard of anyone on a second set of limbs ? Go look at these pages there's 4-8 post a day of the limb failure on lifts. Some after 12 shots and some after 1,000 shots . It's being watered down alot on talk about it .
Exactly. Nobody wants to come out and say these bows are junk. And a warranty isn't worth a fuk during hunting season. And these two clowns are a joke too. Especially the golf coach archer wanna be. Clowns.
I think itâs the design not the fiber glass they are using. If they know the glass is bad why would they keep putting them on these bows instead of using the new batch of good limbs? I had a PSE, 5 sets of limbs before they just replaced the bow with a bow of equal price. The pro shop said they had nothing but problems with those limbs they were thin and super preloaded and always under too much stress. PSE changed their limb design and they donât make them that thin anymore. The Lifts limbs are too thin and too preloaded and I knew they would have problems as soon as I saw them! Bet next model will have different limbs! If it does it is the design thatâs the problem not the material!
At the shop I go to a guy had his splinter in about 40 shots and then when he got them replaced and the replacements splintered in like 6 shots! I believe the new limbs are hanging in there now! Third times the charm!
Iâm glad yâall are talking about this, I replaced my limbs on my lift 4 times before getting rid of it, 1 of those a week before TAC
Happened on my replaced limbs also
Bought my lift the week it come out, month later my bow derailed and splinter, Mathews sent my new limbs within the week, had my bow back in 2 weeks. So far no issues and if i do, Mathews will fix it!
Mathews are incredible. Iâll never forget shooting my first Q2 back in like 2002. It was far and above anything Iâd ever shot. Now I shoot a VXR. My Q2 is still like new.
I love my lift. I bought it brand new couple weeks ago shot 50 arrows through it and the limbs were cracking mid limb the same day I seen three other guys bring their bows into the shop with the same problem.
I also had to re-tune, the bow three separate times because the strings stretching, and they also made the strings too long because the pro at my shop had to shorten the strings down to the correct ATA so much that the strings were getting string twist when you would relax it in the device so I ended up just buying new strings. We will check the bow poundage and it was 5 pounds under what it shouldâve been tighten the strings down. I would go shoot it a day later bring it back and it was a 5 pounds again under what it shouldâve been. so definitely the quality control and their new strings is not good.
I'm still shooting my 3VX... 3 years later.. and no issues. I didn't see a reason to jump on the bandwagon for a new bow every year.
I'm still shooting a original 07 PSE X-Force HF6 because of that very reason. Here we are are in 2024 and I've still not seen a better hunting bow made by any manufacturer.
@riverkatspeaks1827 it's turning into the cell phone industry, a new bow design every year.
Exactly what I discussed with Dan from Elkshape a few years ago but he is one of the guys who think newer is always better. On his skill level he can't outshoot a 2020 bowđ I mean it's all marketing
Still shooting a bear anarchy. Dead deer all day. And I used to work at a Mathews pro shop.
I don't have disposable income for new bows with 3 boys I'm getting into hunting. So I take the hit in MY gear. Only thing is splurge for is first lite gear
@3fs557 I'm speaking for the average person. Sure, it would be nice to have a new bow every year. But most people can't afford that, and they feel like they are missing out on something. In reality, they're not.
Ordered a Lift during pre-order. Got a 33 with 80lb mods, probably 1500-2000 shots through it. String finally stretched and a week later, the right upper limb began to deamination. Took it to my dealer, and limbs were sent overnight. Great service IMO.
That being said, I love this bow, and the way it shoots. My favorite bow of all time
My buddy's split yesterday! Probably had a couple hundred shots through it but his had a tuning issue the whole time so i wonder if that was the issue
I was just shooting yesterday with a friend...He shoots the Lift..I shoot the Mach 30. I told him about this issue. We go to walk the course and he pulls back and we here crack! Yep..big crack. Spoke to another guy and he's on his FOURTH SET of limbs. WOW.
Material issue is bullcrap, my vertix has had the same issue at 75 lbs 4 times now. The arenât serious cracks but still!!! I payed high dollar for the bow when it came out and to have to take my bow and have them switched out time and time again is junk. Love my bow but Geezus!đ
I have had the same experience with my vertix as well I am on my 3rd limb replacement. They have ignored this issue for years.
I think Kuiu makes a superior product. My buddy (who primarily wears Sitka) says you must pronounce it Thitka with a pinky out though. Personally, I miss the old outfitter camo from Cabelas, holding onto the stuff I have, but have started making the switch to Kuiu. If I could get quality merino or apparel in outfitter camo, I think it would be a no-brainer for me. First Lite (Kiln Hoodie) still has the softest merino on the market to me, but others last longer and dont ball up.
Not gonna lie, all these stories have me questioning my confidence in a bow that so far has done me well and I shoot great with. It seems though that this all of a sudden has come about over the last month or so⊠when I go back in threads, I donât see any comments about limbs early on or for the first few months after release.
Great video. Appreciate what you guys do. It's refreshing to hear you guys give objective opinions or communicate your subjectivity up front.
I've had my Lift 33 for 2 weeks. Splintered bottom limb after 300ish shots. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
My lift that I bought in February splintered in June. The replacements splinter two weeks later. Im on my third set now.
Dang sorry to hear that, first time hearing of a double replacement
@@BenFender-z5m time to switch brands
Every video about this issue has comments full of multiple failures..
Wow, I love this channel but this sucks. I had 3 of 8 limbs splinter on my first LIFT 33. I heard âtinksâ but didnât know what I was hearing.
I heard a crunch later and looked up at full draw and have no idea how my string didnât derail when I let down. Limbs on top right were collapsed.
Took it back. Endured the skeptical looks at the shop because Matthews limbs donât fail. I was obviously lying and broke them.
Then, new limbs installed. When I got back with the 2nd set that cracked less than 100 arrows later⊠I was hushed as they quickly moved the bow behind the counter and gave me full refund for bow and all accessories toward a different manufacturer.
I switched shops obviously. Interesting enough, when I went t to accessorize my new bow, the tech helping me had just went through the same thing and was converting his sight with a pic mount as well.
No complaints on warrantee. I was born in Tomah, WI⊠15 mins from Sparta. I love Matthews. I donât like that they and you are making light of a huge issue. Not a small concern.
Iâm guessing the stronger the draw cycle⊠I had 80 lb limbs at 31â draw, the better the chance they canât hold.
For all the folks who think Iâm a hater, my wife is shooting a LIFT 29.5 and loves it⊠with 55lb mods.
They are just going to ignore these stories. There are many videos about this and countless stories just like yours. This is a much worse problem than they are letting on..
I hope it's a material issue, but this doesn't really track with my experience. Bought mine in November 2023, had thousands of arrows through it, and my limb cracked in May 2024.
Funny this is that Mathews is telling other, smaller, dealers that there is no issue with the limbs. Weâve sold about 2 dozen Lifts, with 4 having come back in for splintered limbs. Weâve seen 80lb and 65lb ones with issues. Two 33s and two 29.5. One with less than 100 arrows and one with well over 1000. Our rep keeps saying that itâs a non-issue.
I picked up my lift Monday and it's Wednesday 400 arrows with two hair line cracks on each side of a small bump. Maybe not a small problem when it happens to you.
@JoshandTim thanks for discussing this issue and for all of your content! I really look forward to each podcast and continue to learn a lot.
Also, wanted to throw a topic to discuss on the podcast out there for you. Could you please talk about bowhunting setups for women (lower weight poundage, shorter draw, ideal arrow weight, etc). Trying to put together good/optimized setups for my wife has been a major hassle since there isn't nearly as much data to draw on as there is for men. I know you have talked about lower poundage shooters before and I've been using that as a good baseline but thought there might be more that myself (or anyone else in the same boat) should be looking at.
Got my Lift in March, first new bow in 10 years. Only worry I have is that my wife finds my Order History at Podium Archer!!! Thank God for the TimC discount
lol glad it helped!

Why has Mathewâs not addressed their customers and left it to you ? Iâve definitely seen daily people on multiple sets of limbs so far . Some after a few shots , some after hundred some after 1,000 .
Iâve had my lift for 6 months, prob 1000 shots and no problems. String did stretch though.

Bought my lift 33 mid may. Thousands of arrows through it, and I just noticed two splinters on the upper right limb. 5 days before a huntâŠ
Well. Iâve owned Bear, Hoyt, and Mathews over the last 20+ yearsâŠand Mathews performance and Customer Service is above and beyond just about any company Iâve ever seen.
Im not gonna bounce on them or even say an idle word against a company thatâŠâas far as Iâm concernedâ is beyond reproach.
JJ and Tim, thank you guys for talking about this gentlemen. I love my lift and have shot my most accurate groups consistently with it. I do believe if anything occurred, mathews is a great company with great customer service. Along with you guys getting replacement limbs very very quickly and at no charge is pretty darn stand up. God bless you guys and again thank you for talking about this.
Origin camo and Hoyt. Hmmm. I use First Lite, Kuiu, Kryptek, SKRE, merinos and synthetics. No brand loyalty. Personally, Kuiu wool is warmer and more comfortable than First Lite, Attack pants are more universal use than any of the others I have. I have a couple pieces of Pnuma which I like. Only Sitka I have is 2 hats, a warm weather ball cap and a full brim rain hat.
Word â
Kuiu is the best I think and these summer sales right now are perfect for getting new hunting clothing.
I will be with Mathews until I canât pull My bow back Any longer. Guys that jump from company to company for bows. Why. They all have there faults. I have never had a problem with my bows. I wrecked a set of limbs on my phase 4. They didnât warranty them but thatâs on me. Great video again
Always enjoy the podcast, Always a drop of knowledge
Had my limbs crack/splinter twice on a v3 27 . After the second occurrence my hunting buddy inspected his Triax and found the same cracks . All were covered under warranty with no problems there . But still never knowing when youâre gonna look down and find those cracks is not good . Just hope itâs not on a paid hunting trip . This seems (to me) that this has been an ongoing problem for years . Just starting to show its face more so now. I donât think itâs a âbatchâ issue just from my experience and from what Iâve read and seen online . I sold my V3 but it was a great bow minus the cracking issue .
I'm in a bow tuning group on Facebook and people definitely are having limbs that were replaced splinter again. It is 100% a design issue
Origin and under armor patterns are very similar feel like they may be involved in some way even if itâs just a dude who used to work for under armor
If itâs a known defect from a batch of materials why wouldnât there be a recall?
@@PhotoBob Iâm sure they are trying to save money by only replacing them as they fail. However, when these start splintering in the middle of elk and whitetail season, people are going to be dropping Mathews faster than the limbs can crack.
Because they are shady.
@@Jeffchizoate Yeah. I love my Lift and it is my first Mathews. But i just hope if that scenario happens, there is a Hoyt sitting right there cause i'm walking out with that. My only major loop hole is hiding the purchase from the CFO! haha
@@Jeffchizoate What if someone gets injured? I'm guessing that would be a lawyer's dream at this point. Wow.
My Drenalin is one of my favorite bows. Maybe one day I'll get a "new" Mathews, perhaps a 2015 or so.
I'm not a keeping up with the Jones type.
I bought a PSE Mach 34 a month ago, and I just had limb do exactly this small splintering. I have shot at least a thousand arrows. Took to my dealer and they immediately agreed to replace them. Just waiting for the replacement.
I thought I was going to buy my first mathews with the lift all the specs lines up and finally an 80lb option but I went in and had my local dealer set it up at 29.5/80 and shot it against my RX3 at 29/80. I'm they both are rated at almost identical speeds and the lift was 10 fps slower.
@MFJJ TimC, thank you for answering the million dollar question of the ongoing LIFT Issue. I personally have a LIFT at 80# and have a splintered limb. The pictures were sent to Mathews on 8/1/24 and I have yet to hear from my bow shop on what their decision is.
MFJJ, thank you for being honest as there are so many bow shop techs claiming there is no issues seen and or inputting their two cents on social media about what Mathews is doing to correct the issue. At the end of the day you can only answer for what your shop has seen/done. These shop owners/techs range from TAW being to light, the wrong fingers on the LCA press, to consumers dry firing their bows. They are also telling the customers the limbs will be shipped but they will have to pay the bow shop the labor of replacing the limbs? Itâs unfortunate that local bow shops are out there spreading false information may that be based on them being afraid of Mathews having repercussions and or stating something they have no actual experience of to customers. I mean what is a customer to think of the fingers on the press being wrong and over pressing them limbs causing this.. Not a good look for the archery community in a whole. Due to the customer service I will still stick with Mathews during this matter no matter what. Appreciate yâall!
Mathewsâ warranty information even says that dealers may charge for labor. Thatâs because Mathews does not compensate the dealer to install. Bow shops charging labor for warranty work is actually the norm.
Yâall may try showing the date and time on the âfireplaceâ for future videos so the viewers can see when the videos are made to know it your âup to dateâ on the present issues.
@@kveritas1Cool, my shop does not.
@@SnapperHeadUnlimited - when minimum wage is $20 per hour, we canât afford to do warranty work for free.
I'm obviously behind on this episode, but the move to Hoty & Origin makes sense. Jocko, Cam Hanes, & Rogan are his boys and that who they shoot & wear.
Thanks JJ and Tim for being like the only influencers to talk about the problem. Good to hear itâs a bad batch in materials. Unfortunately for me Iâm on to my third set of limbs. Supposedly they are the new material. Weâll see
Also going on my third set. Bought the bow in December 2023. Too splintered 4 weeks ago and bottom splintered last week. Hopefully these new ones are better but we shall see.
â@coltongibson7519 well that doesn't fit the naritive lol
Sooooo the batch of materials must have been a pretty big batch. Wish they would disclose which batch. It will be odd when they come out with a design change and somehow make excuses for saying it was "bad materials". Sad thing is, they don't need to dodge this. People would understand. The LIFT is a great bow. I'd be all in purchasing another one if they were honest, disclosed what's happening, and show what they are doing differently. After 2 sets of limbs and Matthews not disclosing the issue, how can I stay with that bow and keep going through limbs. Then take a killing when I want to trade or sell it and upgrade down the road.
For all of you that say the limbs are free, you just don't understand the market then. If you plan to keep the bow forever, then yes. Matthews isn't going to do anything to close the gap when the market goes south on the bow model that was having limb issues. You've seen it right here, even heard Josh and Tim talk about other brand years that had issues. That will be the future for the 2024 LIFT.
Thatâs why Iâve always rocked with Mathews ever since Iâve ever bow hunted. I started on the DXT and blackmax 2. Still have em.
Honestly I worked in a bow shop and the companies were all about the same they all gave you a cell phone number to call they will all warranty stuff the best Iâve ever dealt with was xpedition I got the owners number and I pre ordered a bow and needed it for a hunt so I asked him about getting it very fast they didnât have any made yet so he sent me a bow to use for the season and I still have the bow itâs awesome and I havenât found anything that beats it itâs been 3 years and thatâs like 15 years in archery years
Thank you for this video. Youve changed my perspective as someone who had a bow with the bad material. Their customer service has been excellent. I just cant wait to get my bow back. Its been 2 weeks almost
Thanks for making me feel at ease with my Lift purchase. I've had it since June and at this point have hundreds, if not thousands of shots through it with no issue and now I feel like I can breath a little easier.
I knew he would go to Origin and Hoyt eventually due to his tie to Jocko, Cam and Rogan.
@@jeremycavaretta1035lol huh? What did that have to do with @scottcyp10 comment?
Kuiu and Sitka owner passed away from suicide.
Jason has some good videos online and was a good guy.
I'm taking my Lift to the dealer today for a splinter on the bottom limb. My upper limbs were replaced a month ago. Mathews told me the same thing, it's a material defect that is not structural and the new stuff they are sending out is good to go. They're replacing all my limbs this time, and talking to a couple of different service reps gave me good peace of mind.
Keep us posted on how it goes
@JoshandTim will do. My dealer said he ordered the limbs on Thursday last week, but it took three weeks to get the upper limbs the previous time. I think they have to replace a yoke bearing that had the dust cover come off, too. We'll see đ€đ»
If they knew there was a problem then shouldnât they just replace all of the limbs at the same time? Why replacing one at a time?
@user-wq9je7ud3f They replace a set, so if one of the top limbs is cracked, they replace both top limbs. My only guess is that there's a chance the other set will be fine, so they wait and see. In my opinion, the problem is centered on the earth and bottomland colored limbs. Just because that is what I have seen the most on social media, and from what my dealer said. I'd be interested if MFJJ has seen the same
@@MrTheBurkes those two are the most sold bc the other colors werenât available for a while. Thatâs probably why.
Really enjoying the content guys thanks for being honest about topics most would shy away from
Had one of the 1st Matthews lifts⊠still perfect!!!
Love your show guys!! All the way from South Africa!
Same here I got one from the first batch soon as they hit the shelves no problems at all 8 months in still good đ
So many times on this podcast Tim gets it wrong and is so confident in his statements. Under Armor IS STILL making and promoting their camo clothes and/or hunting gear. Do your audience a favor and just say âI donât knowâ.
Sitka durability is pretty good once found some Sitka pants for like half off they were just a little big so took it to seamstress so theyâd fit me told me they were some of the toughest pants sheâs ever worked on said she broke a couple needles on em
Iâve been shooting bows since 2012 Iâm 30 years old. Mostly bowtech guy , but all bows have issues. I remember Bowtech Prodigy limbs snapping left and right. Happened to my brother
Never had it on my BTX
Purchased mine the last week of may and the top splintered last week got the bow back yesterday. Maybe 500 arrows through it but it was fixed fast and free with absolutely no questions.
I own a Mathews Lift 33" and a Hoyt Ventum Pro 33". I like them both. I haven't had any issues with my Lift. Mathews should be able to trace the lot number of the defective material to the serial number of the finished bow and recall from the retail channel as well as the customer base if the bow was registered. This is the proactive solution and the most customer centric approach.
Dudley said openly on a Hoyt podcast over the weekend that once PSE was purchased from Pete Shepley all of what Dudley was promised was out the door. This is typical when a company buys another company, in particular when the company being acquired is a sole proprietor (Shepley). The new company does not give a crap about any previous commitments, etc. For Dud, PSE was a way to build his brand of Nock On. He even said that. Nock On grew HUGE during the PSE relationship and it will grow even more with Hoyt.
IMO Nock on was big before pse. Been around for a while.. Pse benefited from the partnership. But I say him leaving will hurt pse.
I will not talk badly of Mathews. 100% great customer care. This happened to me 3 times. And on the 3rd time I switched to a different brand. It became a confidence thing. Every time I drew back I was worrying Iâd hear that sound again. They ended up sending a whole new bow back to the dealer. I just want nothing to do with it. So I canât complaint. Just sharing my experience. Also learning lesson, when you go to the shop to buy a bow. Cover your eyes and shoot the top 3 you like and decide based on that. Even though I think the Mathews Lift is the best looking bow on the Market. I enjoy shooting my new bow a lot more. If I would have tried both of from the beginning Iâd probably not gotten the Lift. Either way, Mathews is jam up and fixed the issue without argument. But for me the other brand seems to fit much better and I canât wait to hear that sound in the woods.
What brand did you go with? I love my Mathews bows, but am thinking about going a different route until this is fully resolved. My lower left limb splintered in the inside just two days ago after having since late January. Sux
@@dannybrandonTX80 I got the Hoyt Alpha X 30. Just a heads up. It sounds louder when you shoot. But I recorded it from the Target and they sound the same at the target.
@@omarcurbelo5342 I literally just left my local shop with a Hoyt RX 8 ultra and got a new limb for my lift. I still love my lift, but the draw cycle on the RX 8, along with feeling much more stable in the full drawn position (that may be due partially to the little bit of extra weight), is pretty dang sweet. Confidence level for September as way up. Iâve never had a backup bow in my life, but really enjoy the opportunity of owning two bows now. Just like everything else in life, sometimes issues present opportunities and a better path forward. Iâm excited!
@@dannybrandonTX80 that is awesome. Yeah I felt the same with the stability. Thatâs what I was saying on my initial comment, lesson learned (try all bows) Good luck
Same story, I left with an RX8 after the 2nd set of limbs failed. Sad thing is I upgraded from an RX5 that I loved. I should have stayed brand loyal but listened to all the influencers and pod casters who are making money with their comments. Wanted to have the bow that was changing the compound bow industry. Just ended up wasting time and money getting set up for season this year.
why does it matter that its design vs material issue? its Mathews...sounds like they are fixing issue, but doesnt matter. failing on this scale reflects bad on Mathews...
New bows come out in 2-3 months ,this issue shouldâve been solved awhile ago in my opinion.
Love the content, you guys are great look foward to a new podcast each week, keep them coming!
I just picked up my Lift from having the limbs replaced. Same superficial splinter at the pocket. Inconvenience for sure but Mathews handled it without question. I dropped my bow off at the dealer Saturday and it was fixed the following Thursday.
My big thing is that i called Mathews when I noticed and they were very up front about it. Didn't talk in circles or anything. They checked stock on my colors and said get it in asap.
Question. What is a better setting for bow strings ; slightly over or slightly under peak draw weight?
When using the arrow guide on Victoryâs website. It asks for IBO speed. Do you enter your actual arrow speed or the advertised IBO by the bow manufacturer?
I honestly can say all bow manufacturers do run into problems. People sometimes jump to the worst until they know facts.no different with truck and car manufacturers. Warranty for a reason to take of default.i worked at mathews and I was in warranty.yes we did warranty for bows in fires, ran over ,Matt does stand behind the product. Matt the nices guy you can work.
As always...you guys rock...thanks for giving us information to keep us shooting...keep up the great work...

Hate the price of Sitka, but love there products!

Love my kenetrek boots, no break in time great right out of the box. They have excellent ankle support, are a hard sole but work great for me. Used in Colorado wilderness backpacking last 3 years without any issues.
