I can't help but wonder if the Daevites at some point became wise to 4011, and created 140 specifically to counter it, effectively beating the ancient Foundation by brute-forcing history.
Possibly, but i actually think not. this facility was apparently built in the 1500's and the daevites wrote the book hundreds of years earlier. then again, when you're mucking around with time travel viewing it as a straight line is a big no no, so. its possible I suppose.

They have other tools that they can use to rewrite history, such as the thaumatargic ritual from SCP-5711.

I HAVE A THEORY! SCP-4011 was created using magic the foundation obtained from studying SCP-140, by erasing 140, 4011 would erase itself, and it can't either due to a failsafe, or due to paradox.
That’s...actually a pretty good theory. It could be possible that’s the reason why SCP-4011 can’t affect SCP-140, because if it weren’t for 140 it wouldn’t even exist! So basically a paradox or extremely hidden failsafe code inside SCP-4011 prevents from doing anything to 140! I think your theory is highly likely and possibly true

On a basic meta level, 4011 is very similar numerically to 140, one is in the 5th series of entries so its well into the 4 digits, but other wise its 1-40 turned into 40-1 with a 1 added, so I'd say there's a very strong and I'd argue deliberate connection between the two entries.

Man, Skynet really turned over a new leaf once it found religion.
The foundation of the 1500s that built this place was far more advanced technologically. It seems every time this anomaly erases a threat the foundation becomes less advanced.
Or even more scary, maybe this anomaly is actively erasing their knowledge and technology.
The Foundation and the SCP seem to be different, if related. My guess is before the book was known the SCP assumed the foundation was still their progenitor and thus to be protected. Of course it is necessity that pushes development so I would guess that as the Foundation was protected it stopped developing quite as fast since there was no need. Essentially...the SCP is destroying itself. With each revision it forces those who would have made it to deviate further from what they were. Maybe even making the threat it was trying to defeat too strong to defeat in the process. Basically it is a successful failure. It does what it was designed to do but utterly fails at what was intended.
It's most likely they got support from the Mekhanites.

I love how the foundation is literally everywhere from the UN to the smallest police departments
Can you imagine being a historian working with the Foundation? You have access to these incredible sources of accurate historical information such as Alexandria Eternal, Robot Cassandra, this SCP, and even the History of the Daevites. You have all these sources of information that others would kill to have access to, but you cannot access them without 05 Clearance and even if you have access to it you'll be lucky to include it in an article of an Internal SCP Magazine but almost never be able to publish it to anyone else.
Now I understand why so many historians turn to the Serpent's Hand or the Horizon Initiative.
One of the iterations of the O5s are said to have extensive knowledge about Mekhanite and Daevite history, although there is no canon.
O5-10 from "The Way It Ends" probably have all of that knowledge and more.
It actually literally impossible to make a timeline in-universe. The O5s tasked a historian to make a history of the foundation only for the "everything is cannon" to bite her in the ass. She encountered everything from conflicting accounts of the Foundation's origins to different cannons such as Pitch Haven, Stealong Solidarity and Dust and Blood with Pitch Haven and Dust and Blood being problematic since both conflict on 682's origins.

I recently started to play Control. I am just baffled, this game could have very well been set in the SCP Universe for how alike it is to it. The FBC is very much like how we could envision the Foundation in our own world and the items of power and their files are so obvious in their inspiration. It is awesome. The crash rates because of "out of video memory" though are quite infamous.

The explanation that makes the most sense for the AI to simply not eradicate the current foundation is that it just can’t. If the AI is just code, obviously whoever engineered it can put it a simple directive to not harm the foundation in any way. Which would also explain why it only *requests* access to 140.
That’s my understanding at least.
Ironically enough, given the theme of the SCP, this SCP was my first introduction to SCP-140 and the Daevites. Does a really good job of making them feel like a massive threat when even this hyper advanced, history altering facility is corrupted and falls apart at the mere mention of SCP-140.

This reminds me of the Doctors of the Church canon, it's where the foundation is made into a religion in the destopian future
i'm getting a star trek voyager 'year of hell' vibe from this SCP. it alters time to wipe out the foundation in the pasts greatest enemy, only to end up nearly wiping out the very civilization that created it, in instead it does what it can to protect the foundation over the years even when they're creators are long since erased from history. something i wouldn't be surprised if the facility AI didn't try to alter history more in order to undo the damage they had done to history.
SCP 4011 is incapable of re-writing history to make it go its way because SCP 001 is actively preventing it from having the ability to do so.

The scp is able to change the continuity of the time line and it is not under the command of the Scp fundation. It means that this scp is a potential danger for the scp foundation.

My headcanon for why the foundation is the way that it is, is that the current iteration of the foundation is what happened because it tried to erase SCP-140, and that's why we're "too tied up" in it.
This would make things kind of weird with the interaction with the MTF who remembered that war, but I think it's not unreasonable to say they'd find out a lot more differences between their memory and their own in time.
The most likely reason the "Alpha 1 Array" (A1A) of SCP-4011 can not "mess" with SCP-140 is that both were built from the same anomalous source.
-> Trying to destroy one or the other may cause a chain reaction of "undo, UNDO , U N D O . . . reset." that would cancel all things every done by either [that would be randomly bad].

What an interesting Catch-22! 4011 must protect the Foundation by destroying 140, but 4011 also can’t destroy 140 without simultaneously destroying the deeply-intertwined Foundation.
