    A friend got a review model and demoed it for me today--nothing short of spectacular! It's gorgeous, the sound is the cleanest and loudest I've heard on any phone without distortion, and the quality of the sound recorder is astounding. I love my Galaxy S5 (and have not upgraded because I don't want a non-removable battery), but this phone is in another league entirely. It hits all the sweet spots--and it has a removable battery! I never stand in line for anything, but I would for this phone.

    Great review, I have the V10 and love it. The V10 has tons of upgrades but I wished they kept the volume buttons on the back and stainless steal sides, I have dropped my V10 a bunch of times and it still looks brand new.

      Bad news. Samsung just released on Oct 10th a memo to all carriers: Note 7 will not be sold or used to replace previous note 7's! They are going to recall all note 7's ( old battery and new battery ones). Word has it that the series will be cancelled and they will only stick with regular s series and edge series. I like my note 7 but Samsung really dropped this one bad. They have no large screen back up except the S7 edge, they even stopped supplying and discontinued the Note 5!

      I'm doing the same with Sprint. I did however power off the Note 7 and using an old HTC One until the release date. I had the V10 and really loved it before switching from T-Mobile to Sprint. But I will say the Note 7 was incredible and wished it did not have any safety issues.

    The V10 is a fantastic phone, so I can only imagine what this one is like. Tough choice between this and the new and improved Note 7, altho the removable battery is a huge draw. There is no other way to go from zero to 100% in 30 seconds. I've never had a phone without a removable battery, and I do use that feature frequently.

    • @zacc449
      @zacc449 Před 8 lety +8

      Go for this, especially if you use the removable battery a lot.

    • @marcusvonmaximus8071
      @marcusvonmaximus8071 Před 7 lety

      I had the LG v10 trying it out, I had an awful time trying to get it to run smooth. setting up emails was such a pain with it. But I did like the removable battery, very few phones do that anymore. But the button on the back are crap. It's not an sports phone to use, because if you are biking or running you cant get to those buttons easily in a carrier.

    I had a note 4 and upgraded to a LG V10, and hated it. I had a hard time getting apps to run and getting emails to set up. I liked the removable battery. The buttons on the back made it hard to use when doing sport activities like biking or running because you couldn't get to the button when in the carrying case. I like how the V20 has put the volume buttons back on the side. Did anyone else seem to feel that the V10 didn't seem to run smooth with the operating system?

    I would get this since I'm upgrading next week, but the LG G3 was the worst phone I've ever had. Went a year and a half with that phone full of issues and no support, so I'd have to pass on this one and pay a little more for the Pixel.

  • @HaohmaruHL
    @HaohmaruHL Před 8 lety +1

    maybe this one would be a nice upgrade from my G2? Because so far g3 disappointed, g4 disappointed and there were tons of defect ones, g5 went some strange direction and also disappointed, v10 was a battery drainer. I never liked samsung but was already going to get s7 or note7. Aftter all these years i still can't choose a new phone because every model has some downsides.

    • @Hothardware
      @Hothardware  Před 8 lety

      I liked the V10 a lot and did not like the G5's implementation of modularity (or how cheap it felt). The V20 is definitely a big step up from the G5, not quite the build of V10 but LG notes it's just as strong (same MIL spec for ruggedness as V10), but it also is a lot nicer than the V10 in other respects. The V20 is a big phone though. 5.7 is too big for my tastes. 5.5 is my ideal display spec, but that's a personal choice thing.

      Honestly, my favorite display right now is on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - AMOLED is gorgeous, nothing quite competes with it. And Samsung's on the S7 camera is pretty great too. We need to get our hands on a Pixel though. We hope to soon. Thanks for the kind words!

    • @AngelMartinez-qs3cf
      @AngelMartinez-qs3cf Před 7 lety

      Thank you very much for responding! I hear and read that the camera on the V20 is a mixed bag. I like the big screen real estate. I am tempted by the V20, I had the Note 7, but I returned it because of the battery issue. Now I really don't know what phone to get. I went to a verizon store and saw a floor demo of the phone, it is nice! 5.5" Screen on the Google Pixel XL, but no battery replacement or micro XD card slot. They are saying that despite that they unlimited storage of photos on the cloud. I don't know if I believe that, But google pixel has AMOLED.

      @Hothardware  Před 7 lety +1

      I will be very honest with you. I run a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge as my daily driver, partly because I LOVE AMOLED displays. Honestly, if you're hooked on AMOLED, it's a tough sell to consider but also, honestly, once you've lived on a good quality IPS display for a week or so, I would have to admit, you probably won't miss it. Side by side, nothing beats AMOLED though.

    • @cyclonus01
      @cyclonus01 Před 7 lety

      Thanks, I really want a bigger screen .. i read a lot on my phone, watch a lot of youtube, etc.. i also like the fact that the v20 has the multitasking with certain apps and has the superior sound..
      my backup plan is to go with the ZTE AXON 7, which is also amoled display 1440p but unfortunately only 5.5 inches. it's also half the price.
      My biggest complaint with the Note 7 was the speakers just aren't loud enough.. and I felt the battery doesn't last too long.. the rapid charging also isn't as fast as one would expect.. other than that it was perfect.

      Now in software wise yes ios is more security while android is more flexible multitasking the V10 could open 5 apps play music and would still work when the iPhone 6s plus could only work one by one
      That's why I see the 6s Plus more faster just because it has a fast prosesser but won't use the whole thing when in my V10 all of it would be at work
      I was trying to choose between the V10 and the 6s plus
      I chose the V10 and I love the phone
      The only reason I wanted the iPhone 6s plus was because ot was popular qnd everyone had an iPhone
      Now I can't choose between the V20 and 7 plus not because both are good phone ( don't get me wrong the 7 plus is an awesome phone) but because Apple is a brand name and everyone has apple just because it's apple and what your buying is just the name. Even though Lg has a older heritage but apple is more popular in the USA in other countries LG and Samsung are beating Apple

      In my house they all have apple but me.I'm using a S6 EDGE PLUS more than likely I'll get the V20 on the 28th at my t-mo store in town.

      Mark brad you're not gonna like the display of you're a videophile or are used to Samsung Super AMOLED displays. The V20 has a really, really cold display. This means it heavily favors the blue spectrum. I wanted to get this phone, but after playing with one, I couldn't deal with the terrible display.

      Nancy Rocha my buddy just got the Pixel XL. I'm really liking that phone. It's the only one I'll personally settle for in place of the Note 7. The screen is gorgeous (not as vivid as Samsung, but this is what most will prefer anyway) and you know what? It looks a lot better in person. The design grew on me. The one my buddy has is the Black color.
      Android nougat rocks btw. Photos on the Pixel are also amazing. It's pretty much a crap shoot between Pixel XL and Note 7 camera. Note 7 still wins hands down in low light though.

    • @bradbury2007
      @bradbury2007 Před 7 lety

      Nancy Rocha don't get the pixel!! It's over priced software! I would say s7 or the LG v20 as the google phone is a waste of us hard earned money!

      I have not seen/felt that at all on this device but I can tell you there is a bit of thermal throttling when you run this device (as most phones really) with continuous benchmark loops.

      HotHardware Do you think this LG V20 is worth it compared to Xperia XZ? My device right now is 64gb iPhone 6s Plus, performance is really smooth but after being update to ios 10 battery decline.

    • @Hothardware
      @Hothardware  Před 7 lety

      That's a tough call. It depends on how expensive the XZ is for you. Right now the V20 is essentially retailing on contract for like $829 ($27 and change a month on ATT and TMo). It's really pricey and needs to come down. I think it will eventually. Might want to wait a bit.

      @louiefajardo1518 Před 7 lety

      HotHardware in my country Xperia XZ now is Available for around $638 with Free Smartwatch 3 and Sony Stand Cover, and it's really hard to resist that kind of offer right? And the fact that i need an Android phone. I hope you can have a depth review of Sony Xperia XZ soon.

      Battery life on LG's recent flagships have been horrible the last 3 generations. It is a simple fix that will make the phone much more attractive. The myth that you can only have removable battery or water resistance is small minded. We can put people on the moon but can't do that? Galaxy s5

    • @MrSuperralph23
      @MrSuperralph23 Před 7 lety

      Ralf Fensch Don't be ignorant, V20 may not be water resistant but it is impact resistant. I work for one of the biggest OEMs and most of the physical damages come from devices not being impact resistant. Shattered screen is more of s problem than liquid damage so I will get the V20.

    • @rage6382
      @rage6382 Před 7 lety

      I'm not ignorant, I'm just stating fact's. I know that these are the best lcd's one can buy . The fact remain's that it's an obsolete technic ! Oled is the future and if lg want's to stay current, it has to use em like apple is planing to do too. I mean, what typ of sreen is lg using in there tv's ? OLED. Ask your self why.

      That is the one shortcoming I forgot to mention in the review. Yes, waterproofing would make it closer to perfect but I want an AMOLED display too. :)

    • @marcusvonmaximus8071
      @marcusvonmaximus8071 Před 7 lety +1

      I disagree. Water proofing is a feature that is killing these new phones. With these higher heat running CPU's they are using the phone needs to breath. Water proofing is sealing the phones up and that is where a lot of these over heating issues are coming into play.

    • @11jrg11
      @11jrg11 Před 7 lety

    • @MrSuperralph23
      @MrSuperralph23 Před 7 lety

      Ashfak Anayet It is impact resistant and that is better than water proofing for me. I am working for one of the biggest if not the biggest OEMs which is s rival of LG too and I believe that nost cases we receive due to physical damage would have to be due to damaged screens that is why I wi go for an LG flagship this time. Already had my V20 pre ordered! 😉

    • @Hothardware
      @Hothardware  Před 7 lety

      I would disagree with this. I still have the device on hand here and I would say the display is fairly competitive. It's not in the league of an AMOLED display in Samsung's Galaxy S7 line but it's not bad. It's a fairly typical IPS display with QHD resolution.
