I felt the pain of destroying the Quay by mistake
Hahah i was so angry about myself in this moment 😤
i made a sunken highway like this, had it all landscaped, bridges, rocks trees... people moved in and business thriving... and accidentally deleated a massive part of quay and the whole look was ruined...soul destroying!
@@lukyyyboyyy Just get quay anarchy.
@@TransportofPerth Thats kinda hard when you're playing in consoles, there's nothing like the Steam workshop in those versions
@@eromango9081 He never said he was playing on console.
Pro vanilla tip: build your highways with normal roads with one tile in between. Then upgrade to three lane highway. Then your highways will be rigth next to each other, making it more realistic.
Yeah the lanes of highways aren’t usually split apart in urban areas.
Depends on what real-life highway you’re using as a reference, wouldn’t it? In the UK many dual carriageways have a grass divider like that.
Good tip:) does it work in curves as well?
@@imperatur yes, indeed, master.
Tho, remember to be accurate!

imperatur = literal CSL god
other cities skylines youtubers use the same amount of mods as the amount of existing candy crush levels
@@stoplightgaming2302 lol
for me i just need 2 mods fine road anarchy and fine road tool
imagine what he does with mods... i think he refrains from showing us least we stop playing lol
You’re a hero for the console community!
You got it to work?!?!
This game is almost 6 years old and you still manage to teach us something new
My *Ye ol' elevated highway* : "My time has come"
Images of me gutting a large stretch of El’Highway in my city went rushing through my head when the epiphany hit.
But elevated highways are the coolest😎
@@DrBIeed lol haha, it always happen to me when I watch Imp's videos
@@imperatur definitely, but they cost more :)
@@-guest89- Took some trial and error but man completely face lifted a big part of town with the sunken concept. I actually raised a downtown stretch in addition so actually ended up with both! 😁
Hear hear for imperatur videos. LoL
This is my favorite city skylines CZcams channel it gives me all the ideas
Hehe:)
I think it is also very successful.
Jesus what a hassle without mods. I'm so thankful for quay anarchy mod lol. Good problem solving skills tho', congrats!
Yeah any mod is a life saver:D
@@imperatur doing such cool stuff with no mods is insanely cool tho, you really know how to do stuff
now imagine playing on console like I do, with out any mods... at all ;_;... doesn't seem fair does it?
@@ilexmortisligaming it is unfair I have console 🙃
@@beamng33legit the thing with console is that even if you can’t use mods you can be creative to make things.
Cities Skylines: Available on Nintendo Switch
What's next, Smart Fridge compatibility?!
Se are near...
No. Smart toaster.
how the fuck are you meant to play it on a switch wtf, that has less computing power than a thinkpad from 2000
FYI, You actually can't do this on Switch. The Switch version does not have a lot of features like terrain tools, quays, & canals. A lot of the other tool sets are also watered down versions. Guessing it was the only way to get it to run on the system. Also, no DLC except Snowfall because that was bundled into the game on Switch.
I approve of this message.
I come here to watch videos and relax, it's so nice to just sit back and watch it happen and listen to the music. This is my meditation, thank you for that!
Agreed, you utilize words better than me good sir! My exact sentiments in regards to Lord Imperatur
~10 mins? I wish I could do this so quick. I made one of these for my train line earlier today on PS4, took me about an hour and a half. Clearly I need a lot of practice. Yours looks great!
Your tutorials are very practical especially for us that our Pc can't handle too much downloaded mods for us to enjoy this game. You prove that we Vanilla players still can have fun and don't envy others players that have so much mods.
Cities: Skylines is very poorly optimized.
This inspired me to sink an 80 unit long highway. Building interchange took hours due to spiral ramps required to get out of the trench. It looks great. I put a park around it called "Trench Park"
And these days I have move it and quay anarchy which saves hours of work. :)
This. This is what i waiting for my entire life. How to do a sunken highway without using any mods. I don't think it's possible UNTIL you showed up and say "Hey, it actually doable". Thank you, Danke schön, terima kasih banyakkkkk...
Awesome!:)
Sama samaaa...
@@joec9178 I'm new at this game only begin in 2019 so i guess yes i still learn how to do stuff

I don't how you figured this out I've been trying to create something like this on my ps4 for awhile in my city but it never came out looking as good as this great video as always
Me too man. Its not as easy to be so precise on PS4 😅.
I usually take the easy way and use mods, but it still baffles me how much you can do with in vanilla with a bit of patience and creativity. I salute you!
I would love to see a tutorial of country side houses and farms, keep up the content! 👍👍👍👍
Day idk 4000 asking for a vanilla marina
Chill dude:D I will build one:)
I mean, he kind of does one here: czcams.com/video/eUGOfp33Pss/video.html
@@imperatur thanks :P
@@swedizzle12 true, but like a marina for boats, not really a fishing one
Perfect timing - I was going to try this with a slightly different method shortly.
I rarely leave comments on YT and this is my first on this channel - only been subbed for a few months. I’ll like to say that the quality and time you put into your videos are outstanding. Keep up with the good work. 😎
Thanks mate, i really appreciate it 🙏🏻🙏🏻
love how compact you've made this sunken highway for vanilla! mine always are like twice the size--but i include on/off ramp exits within the sunken highway
I’m trying this method out on console - trying to recreate a Chicago inspired highway system…
this is something i've wanted to do with a city and now i know how to! thank you!
You’re welcome:)
Of Course, another amazing video
Thanks mate!
For a moment there I thought it was a joke video and that you were going to make a flooded highway and call it "sunken!"
Nice job!
Thanks:D
Thanks for this! Was looking how to build this without mods for ever! Amazing channel, keep it up!
Thanks bro
I used this exact sunken highway a long time ago for my city, works super well just use proper on and off ramps
dude make more tutorial videos like this for simple additions to your city, this is amazing. Liked and subbed
Thanks for your support mate:)
@@imperatur yeah my pleasure, an idea for another tutorial is a zero traffic city entrance? (like roundabout and highways going off into different areas of your city?)
thats always where i have trouble with my cities and it would be cool to see how you regulate it in your cities
This is too cool! I never would have been able to force my brain to think about this!
In a way, it is not only stylish but it is also functional, much like that sunken highway in Los Angeles. Now, as a 250-hour City Skylines Player who hadn't been able to solve a highway traffic jam, this is the best tutorial that practically requires no mods unless you wanted to make it look better
Thanks a lot, been wanting to add one into my city for quite awhile
Then it’s now the perfect time to do that:D
How did I just NOW come across this?!? I've been playing C:S for years now! Incredibly valuable info. I might just get the game for my switch now!
I think terraforming is not possible on the switch
@@imperatur Whaaaaat? 😬 NVM then.... I do lots of that! 😂
1:58
Ouch... The pain...
I'll stick with my quay anarchy, thank you. I don't think I have the patience.
Good content, as always.
These tutorials are great. It would be good to have a minute or 2 on the end of the no mods ones to show how easier it is with mods and how things can look when replacing vanilla trees, roads and buildings with workshop ones.
Maybe a vanilla vs modded series?
@@imperatur yes that would be awesome
Bring back the "(Famous/Historical Figure) Plays Cities Skylines" series :D
Council of men approves
I would love to see you do on/off Ramps for this as well.
Lol, I found you through your community post, and it just so happens this video is something I’ve been wanting to figure out how to do for a little while!
Or just install few basic mods if you are playing on PC. Mods saves plenty of time and same thing can be achieved in half the time or even faster.
Nevertheless thumbs up as always because your tutorials are great.
Yeah of course you can simply use quay anarchy ;)
dont think any other cs utuber showcase this technique without mod. Nice work. Amazing
I would like to see Imperatur make a compact urban underpass, with one avenue going under the other, to be placed in a dense urban setting. BTW, congratulations, your videos are amazing!
My first thought would be to sink one under the other using a tunnel. Perhaps there is a way to do it with a bridge also?
I love this! Started using this method from your last video, trying to grind some achievements
That little violin in the middle got me cracking🤣
Nice trick hahaha do a mega vanilla airport, i challenge you!
I'm glad that Cities Skylines 2 actually makes sunken highways easier thanks to the cut and fill feature.
Very neat guide! Did already know this but it takes some figuring out so very useful for people. And I like the way you've done it too, looks very nice. One tip I'd add - you can change the elevation steps for the bridges from the default 3-at-a-time down to 1-at-a-time, and they'll go over the walls with only an elevation of 1. Doesn't really save you any money but will look very neat.
I learned how to elevate roads which was what I needed for my major metropolitan city. Thanks for the two in one
I wonder if there's any chance a curved sunken highway might work with vanilla tools and assets...
I think yes, but it will take a lot of patience
Nice to see the 11 distance spacing between city grid roads and a cool way to bypass quay anarchy - compliments!!!
This video is launched on my birthday, wow! Great job, you helped me a lot with highway planning and building
I love these tutorials, just wish there was a text version, easier to look at while in game
ive waatched this about 30 times in 2 days and i finally did a good one on my third try first twwo was aight but this is it now thanks my dude
Maybe do a tutorial on a zero traffic city entrance? (like roundabout and highways going off into different areas
Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for in my city!
I love these videos so much. They are very inspiring!
Great to hear that:)
Love The Builds!
I was Always confused On how to Make A sunken Highway
Can you do a video on how to make good road layouts, like noob vs modder.
Zac LeQuia’s Idea, just trying to increase te chances of u seeing this.
Yeah, but i don’t really know what the perfect road layout is, one that isn’t to car centric or american suburbia style
@@imperatur whatever you feel, it’s your video. You could make multiple videos for each style if you wanted, I’ll watch either way. If you don’t end up doing it at all it’s fine, just an idea.
Friendship ended with elevated highways.
Now sunken highway is my new friend.
Idk why but I remember playing this game around 2017-18-19
It must have been watching this channel though
Brilliant as always. What about a sports village? (If you haven’t already done one 😀
All your tutorials are so usefull! Thank you! Could you please make a modern industrial zone tutorial please?
Wow this looks amazing interesting with the water mechanics
I don't know what I would use it for but its nice to know I COULD do it! :)
Great quality as always! thanks imperatur!
Thanks bro:)
No Mods Tutorial for PC/XBox/PS4 = Like
Very good
Who suddenly found a video of this guy and got so addicted
Very useful. Iv been wanting somethink like this for ages
2:00 It was at this moment... he fucked up
I like the idea. You think you could make a (semi) sunken train station make work with this technique?
Finally , a non dlc build
Haha, nice comment! xD
Vanilla large shopping center?
Wow, nice. I don't use mods so that can be useful for me too. Your videos are beautiful. Keep it up!
Quay Anarchy and Network Extensions 2: Finnaly, the worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!
Tried it twice taking like an hour so I’m about to go again hopefully 3rd times the charm! 🌊
That's so cool, why didn't I think of that. I so doing this. Thanks for the vid!
this is too smart lol. never did i even think about doing this, even with over 1,000 hours in game XD
man this is why i wish the quay anarchy mod still worked. at least this option is still available
Thanks for showing us consolers the way of the 🐐
I'm ready for "Cities Skylines 2" - This perfectly demonstrates why we need a new version..... Latest gen hardware please !!
Yeah me too😄
This looks great! It reminds me how much I hate driving in central California.
hi imperatur do you remember that video you made of four types of players? I know you did a lot, but I'm like the type who wants public transport to be full !! equal to São Paulo (where I'm from) kkk
Meu mano, uma recomendação: nunca ria com “kkk” em um comentário em inglês, eles não entendem como uma risada
I push the like button at 1000th time :D
What cinematic camera mods do you use? Looks nice cinematic 👍🏾
As usual thx for this short and sweet tutorial...
I don't even fuckin try with my roads anymore... I have failed. Thank you for the tutorial and how to build an actually good functional road.
nice idea, I haven't thought of this only if i seen this video!
I keep watching Ur unmodded design...
Is this.... Love...
Thanks for watching:)
Man, i tried doing one yesterday. Now i regret not waiting for your upload
wonderful. exactly what im looking for for my new city
Great!:)
I appreciate your work specially this no mod series
video idea: how to build a wall, a GREAT WALL
Love this! Can you teach how to make a good looking San Francisco type of city in vanilla?
Please try building a Rocket launch pad. Like a larger and more realistic one with the chirpX launch pad in the game.
How to do create a good edge of a city... I find it hard to know when the stop and how to do a transition from a suburb to nature so that it looks natural
Yeah that’s very hard!
Move it and Road Anarchy are god tier mods. cool vanilla trick though
What benefits does this have? Just looks cool? Does being lowered make less noise pollution? How do you connect to the highway with the quays there?
Imagine if this was how they really had to construct sunken highways!
Imperatur, please do a vanilla marina.
You're the genius of Cities Skylines :)
This is brilliant
But I like quay anarchy!
Yeah in combination with move it and road anarchy you‘ll get much nicer and quicker results
I have made an entire road network completely underground before. This idea I like a little more.
One advise: You can use the Fresh Water Outlet instead of the Drain Pipe to fill the canal with water. In this case, the water is not polluted so is not a problem if you connect the Pumping Stations who drains the water in the canal to the main city grid.
Yeah true:)
But that requires a DLC
There is 1 mod can do this is 1 second
But Great Job, awesome video and creativity
