I kinda think that Maid and Squid Game don't share two much of a common audience. Certainly exists, I watched both. But I was seriously bored by Squid Game and Maid blew me away...

Never expected ''Maid'' to be the best thing I've watched all year. And never expected Andie McDowell to turn in such an amazing performance! Wow. Can't wait to let some time pass and watch it again.
I requested the book at my local library after finishing the series. There was a lot in the book that the series showed and some wonderful details they couldn't fit in. I recommend you read it.
Remember MAID is based on a true story. Powerful, sad yet inspiring series.

Man, Andie MacDowell deserves an award for her role in Maid. I absolutely loved her. First time in my life I really appreciated her acting ability, I just never noticed her before. Male, female you have got to see this program. Rough and sad and highly emotional.

Also, there were tons of plot holes in squid game. There was absolutely nothing unique or exceptional about it, I can't understand how it became the most popular show ever on Netflix.
I get they came out at the same time but they are completely different and incomparable shows.

@@carly4422 it was good, I very much enjoyed it and I’m glad international shows are getting more attention. Just because you don’t enjoy more fantastical plots doesn’t mean others can’t. I think both series are great. Two series can be good. No need to compare the two when they are completely different genres

What is this about incredible genetics? She has had plastic surgery. There's nothing wrong with that, but please ... this is not how women look naturally at 63. Compare Stephen Colbert, who's had no surgery, and is younger than her. HE has a lined forehead and a soft jaw, she doesn't.

Maid is such a beautiful, beautiful show. It moved me so deeply, in a way I would have never imagined. And Andie McDowell is amazing in it. Completely believable.
I don't think I'd call it 'beautiful', what the heroine is subjected to is too awful to admire, but the story is essentially true, so we should all know about it. I recommend the author interview on Amanpour and Co.
As somebody born and raised in Asheville NC, with a bipolar mother Andie MacDowell is terrific on the show but it sure hits close to home in a traumatic fashion!!!

Loved the series. At times frustrating but ultimately wonderful. Though at times, Andie McDowell’s character aggravated me so much on behalf of her daughter.
She is from Gaffney SC, right up the road from me & she has never forgotten her roots. ❤

Maid is the first time I have seen the topics dealt with as realistically as they are in life. I was that maid at one time…an even worse time than now as far as domestic violence awareness is concerned. Everyone in this production was brilliant. Especially the daughter and her mother.
I love how Andie & her daughter are networking for each other. Daughter gets her on Maid, Andie tries to get her daughter on the late show 😁👍
MAID is amazing! This clip made it about McDowell, but it really is about Qualley. She should have been on first. But they’re both phenomenal in it, really amazing!!

I didn't know anything about her daughters and I didn't know that they are actual mother and daughter. Mind-blowing. Her performance and relationships with her daughter left me heartbroken. What a great show

I had a friend who has a mom much like Paula in the movie, Andie played her role so well, she reminded me so much of my friends mom and how unhinged she could be

Maid is perfect the depth of characters, the message behind the story, the exceptional performances , it's a flawless solid piece of work. I would even watch it again. It hits even harder for me though because it's is identical to what we went through. The human spirit is powerful , if there is a will - there is a way. This system makes it nearly impossible to not just end up on the street and loose it all.

Side note, I did not know they were related! It’s so crazy when I was watching the show I said wow the actors who play Alex and the mother look so much alike. They did a great job casting these actors for the role of a mother and daughter hahaha

Andy took over each and every clip she was in. The first impression is how good storyline it is and the actors for the young couple, and then you see girl's mom and you forget the main storyline because of the fabulous grandma. excellent production.

Bravo Andie for being such an inspiration to so many women by aging gracefully and looking so stunning! So elegant and classy. We are obsessed in this industry to look unrealistic. I am so exhausted seeing JLo's image splashed across magazines and the same old headlines " this is the new 50" no that isn't! That's unrealistic and preposterous. When you have millions and millions of dollars, you can look like JLo and Anniston and god knows who all. But Andie has been such an icon, she has always looked her best at every age. And that is what inspiration is! Ah her salt pepper hair makes wanna ditch my color box, and I am 35.
The show "Maid" is full of surprises, and I can't say enough about the wonderfully complex the relationship between the title character and the codependent hippy-dippy mom. I'm just learning here that Ms. Qualley is one of Ms. MacDowell's real-life daughters. They both deserve a lot of credit for plumbing the emotional depth of their characters' arcs, both separately and together. I hope the show gets proper recognition.

Didnt know they are mother daughter in real life. No wonder their chemistry is so natural and marvellous. Only knew about this fact after i've done binge watching the series in a single day. pheww! The only show that ever made me do that and got so immersed into the storyline and actors' performances.
Ok I'm not a Netflix binger but I had extra days off for Thanksgiving and saw the whole series in 2 days . It's beautiful sad and strong and you're rooting for Alex the whole show ❤ I loved it so much , it really touched my heart

Wow, my niece was just telling me how much she loves Maid and what it means to her, having been in an abusive relationship herself. And now find out that Andie MacDowell is in it, definitely getting Netflix now! (canceled it when they stopped mailing out movies) Ms. MacDowell is such a natural and great actress since St. Elmos Fire, which Steve didn’t mentioned😡, nonetheless a great interview😊
This show is amazing! It was tough to watch b/c the issues referenced ARE HARD. They did a terrific job in each of their roles...Wow!!!

Both mom and daughter characters were beautifully etched. Andie truly deserves an Emmy this year. Both mom and daughter had absolutely the best on screen chemistry. Few takeaways from the show: I learnt how people with bi-polar behave. Andie just killed it. How daughters can love and care for their moms so well. Added Victoria (British Columbia) to my travel bucket list. This series teaches empathy. The show has been quite popular and successful on Netflix, but just ending in 10 episodes, I would not like to see any extension of the series, because any extension would defeat the purpose. Folks - What do you think?
They are thinking of making it an anthology series which would bring in a whole new set of actors for each new season.
It looks like Paula not only had untreated bipolar disorder, she also had borderline personality traits. Bipolar causes people to be manic (pressured speech, delusional, driven) or hypomanic, but it doesn't cause a person to have interpersonal relationship (idealising an intimate partner, hypersensitive and misreading her daughter's motive) and emotional issues.

@@katjames7601 Interpersonal hypersensitivity and emotional dysregulation are typically borderline traits, but it takes an average of 9 years of presenting for treatment for them to be diagnosed. 30% of inpatients are BPD presentations. Bipolar has its high and low episodes, BPD moods and attachment issues are chronic.
@@Tamarahope77 if you've ever put the traits of bipolar disorder next to borderline personality disorder you'll see overlapping traits. It takes a very skilled clinician to make the BPD diagnosis.

I was watching this and when I saw that andie was playing the mom I immediately knew that margaret had to be her real daughter! She looks exactly like her mother did in Groundhog Day. We watched/watch that every year as a tradition in my family and so I know it well! Even her braid was identical to her mothers in that movie!

Just watched the series and it moved me to tears. Some impressive acting going on. Compliments on the depiction of the crazy and dysfunctional social system.
What a wonderful story. Been there/ done that. So many triggers resurfaced: in tears I called my DV counselor immediately after. In my case, I was an immigrant, naive, and no relatives. After many tries ( took me 13 years) and have to accepted the fact that I would have to leave my daughter behind to me be able to survive. After years, still struggling with the scars in me and my daughter's soul.
Andie's performance was mind-blowing. Chewing up the scenery in the best way!
