I know it is probably a different story in person but judging by the video, I absolutely love this paint job. It's a win in my book.
Facts
Did you book for sale?
I agree 💯 percent 😍💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Love it
I agree. I kept thinking I would love to own a car that looks like that!
honestly i think the uneveness adds to the effect and the color is wonderful, i'd call it a true forest green since the effect displays all the greens you find in the forest. From the bright green of fresh shoots to the dark blue green of old needle wood.
Well said...
I really dig the color shifting but the way you added the Forest Green idea is epic!!
I agree totally with you. Green color on a vehicle is not my choice. This one is tast
I agree as well, the color is awesome, and I like the color shift. Just could be a little smoother
I agree. I see the unevenness but it works for me. Almost like a camouflage gloss. I like it.
I was thinking it was more of a money green with the color shifting.
I've been looking at colors for 30+ years and in my lifetime I have never seen such a smooth blended green with hints of blue and yellow. Love it 💛💙💚
I'm a retired bodyman/painter, I worked the bodyshop industry for years played with pearl candy so on,! It doesn't look bad the color looks almost emerald green!
lol I looked first and found your comment. From the first look outside and as he panned, thinking, this looks like an emerald and all the subtle flashes you see in one. 👍
Absolutely the same thing I thought when they started rolling the finished video. It’s an emerald on wheels. I like it.
I love how their "It doesn't look good" still looks freaking amazing. I love that color!
Hold up. Now THATS a color combo I would definitely use! It's beautiful. I prefer green and the darker the better. But this. This is a whole different category! I give it a 5
Beautiful shade of green. It's like a well polished green tourmaline. And the blue sheen shifts so subtly it makes for a double take.
I've watched every single dip you have ever sprayed and this is the first one that I finally love the color and this is the best one ever!!
Even though the color is uneven, it looks awesome. I'm a fan of green to begin with but this one is just stunning to me.
I honestly think the uneven parts almost make it look like a green with yellow under tone shift. It's multiple different greens and I like it!!
I would have liked to see more of the yellow showing through on the higher lines.
Looks like a deliberate variant of BMW's Oxford Green. It's not my cup of tea but I can see why some would find this to their liking.
You can definitely see the patchiness but that green is incredible!
Can definitely see the uneven-ness of the coverage, But the color itself does look good.
So what would happen if you tried recreating that color by mixing the Blue Candy directly into the color base?
A less pearlescent green candy
Put the Lime in the Coconut and shake 'em both up . . .
There's a chance that it might turn black.
Then a pearl on top…
CZcams Epsteined a comment off to Gitmo.
4.5. It turned out way better than I thought it would. And on-camera the green is very unique and striking. I would not call it a failure!
I would drive this and show it off.
That looks like the jewel of the forest green. Bloody brilliant. I can see that not everyone would like it but THAT is the paintastic!
I like it! It’s darker around the flairs and body lines but it adds to the look of the paint job.
This looks like a custom color in a video game and I’m not going to lie I dig it. The color itself is amazing.
Verdade mano
Yeah it's got midnight club vibes.
I almost always use race yellow as a base:)
Yo. I think it's freaking awesome .....10 outta 10
No way this is a failure!!! It looks beautiful! You have almost like a hyper color shift of greens. It looks original and very well done! 5 out of 5!
I said the same , the blochy areas do have a hyper effect. Kinda neat
I honestly didn't think I was going to like it, but it turned out really good. It has accents with the top being darker than the sides. I'm really into that.
Give it a 5. Definitely different, but still amazing.
i don’t consider this a failure at all. it’s like a brighter version of the older green bmw color. even as far as the clover green pearl civics. 5/5 for sure.
I'd say the score depends on the car, but yeah this is definitely not a failure.
As the former owner of a 99 clover green Civic, I concur, very similar.
I give it a 5 it's like a green chrome
I had a green BMW, It's color was Oxford Green, A very similar color,
5/5 and the cloudiness looks amazing. I think it's more like a bonus than unwanted effect.
I knew it would turn a green color but I didn’t expect that! I really dig it. You can almost see some yellow trying to show through in places. It’s very unique and totally custom. 5/5
I love it. Hate the window tint job. It looks very similar to British green on Jags. Missed a couple of spots, in side the wheel wells.
A very calming color of green to a smooth filter of shade of darker deepends on how u look at it not bad. Soothing feeling with just enough motion to rick over
More "Masterpiece" than "Disaster". While being painted, I had no idea it would become a more dark "Forest Green". I actually really like it!
A 30!! The depth of the green is Insane!! For anyone who loves green, this is absolutely Perfect!
True! I love green
This looks sexy!
The colour is actually amazing, it's a shame it's not even. The depth of that green is quite stunning.
I'm diggin' on that shade of green and the reflectivity with a hint of iridescence. However, you're right the coverage is so irregular and patchy that it sucks hard.
I wouldn't call that a failure. I really think that it turned out pretty nice. I personally am a big fan of green color palettes on vehicles and that's not your ordinary dark green. You still see the yellow pearl base peeking through depending on the angle.
Agree! I Absolutely did love this .
Kinda a modern take on a Winfield fade,
I actually like this color. It's a real shame it came out patchy because it's a shade of green I really like. I give it a 5 for color but 2 for feasibility. 3.5 overall
The emerald color/effect is awesome, but agreed on the shame it's patchy...
Yes I love color but I have to agree with the score 🙁
Color is drop dead gorgeous but patchiness does ruin the illusion
I'd give it a 5 for attempt and a 3 overall
agree, a metallic forest green would look great. maybe a little something pearl mixed into that and finish with a candy black?
Same here. Hey, just take it to NY and take some pictures at the Brazilian protestors. It'll be fun!
I absolutely love it. I would love to have my car painted like this. It's gorgeous
I’m partial to green. My 03 Tundra was green like this and I got a lot of good comments. Good job! 🥰
The color is surprisingly a nice green. Unfortunately the overall final product looks patchy and some yellow showing through. But still a fun experiment!
@@wyldanimal2 actually you can see yellow showing through that's not the street markings, ex. at mark 7:18 look at the rear bumper, and front side skirt right behind the tire, those areas don't have street markings. and not even mentioning the wheel wells.
I think we can call it candy green with what they used.
5/5. I think the high and low spots make the final product look like distressed green denim. Do the candy blue over a white or silver base next, bet it looks like a pair of old, comfy jeans.
Since green is my favorite color I absolutely love the paint job. I think it turned out very nice. I agree with a previous post about calling it "Forest Green" as there are many different hues of the forest. Cheers from eastern TN
Put some flip flop or chameleon on it ,add some highlites on the fender and 1/4 bulges and shadow in around the bottom all the way around due to thin looking coverage. Clear sand rub out and it should look nice
*Hey, it's not a failure if you learn something right* 😅 *Rate this color 1-5* ⬇
Root beer candy over orange plz
Not good looking on that car but it could look good on a different car
🎶that's ri iiiiiiight🎶😄😉
This is actually not as bad as you made it sound! 3.5/5
3...I kind of like it
Mixing this candy with a hypershift over the same base color could result in extremely insane results.
What kind of hypershift?
@@ranmanplaya My first thought was some like "blue ghost" would be the first one I would try. Do you have any other ideas that you think would work with it?
My second would be ZGP hypershift. The colors in ZGP might compliment the green with the right colors if the candy doesn't overpower the hypershift.
@@ranmanplaya my last choice would be ZTH. The colors in ZTH would probably be the most promising.
Agreed. A nice hypershift over it would look stunning!
It's a beautiful green! I love how the blue shows, too.
Looks great from a distance. You don't see the unevenness until you get up close
I'm feeling that shade of green! It didn't lay down smooth but the color is pretty sweet. Not a complete failure. Try mixing/blending the top coat into the base coat and lay it down as one. Then finish off with the gloss.
The guns they use for the dip aren't the best quality, might have worked out better with a regular paint gun
You can definitely see how uneven the coat is, but I LOVE the color! Don't know what you can do to try to replicate the color without the patchiness, but you should try for sure. I give this a 3 because the color is so awesome.
Just curious figured id ask because i DON'T KNOW ok would it have worked if it was powder coated??
When you first look at it, it looks nice. Then you look at it closer and the yellow underneath is like taking over In spots. Good work guys.
This type of experiment is what makes this channel (and your company) such a treasure. Without exploration, there's no discovery. Please ALWAYS share both the good and the bad without judgement, just like you've done here. Great Job!
Man, this is a fun experiment, there’s nothing wrong with trying things that aren’t typically combined. We learn more from our disappointment than achievements. You grow and we do to!
The color is beautiful, 5 out of 5 for the color, the the consistency 3 out 5.
Here’s an idea, gold base, with a mix of blue and yellow candy for a really rich Jade green.
Haven't seen the finished paint job but I think it'll look great
Dude you guys nailed it, that's awesome, great color
That color is sick, I'd love to see what it would take to recreate that color in an even coating!
9 coats and it still didn't even out and never will bruh. If you want green paint it green.
@@anonimous2451 I said RECREATE, not get this to work. I'm asking what it would take to make that specific green in another way that would work.
@@DataDownLynk Clearly demonstration does not work for you either. It is CLEAR this does NOT work but hey keep smackin that head against the block wall and see if anything changes.
@@anonimous2451 Must not be the brightest one huh. Can't even figure out what I'm saying? Let me break it down barney style. I 'm not saying "Do the same thing again and make it work" I'm saying "try other processes or colors to try to get close to that same green" god I hate dense motherfuckers.
I'd honestly say that it looks fantabulous! I love the deep green metallic. As for the uneven coverage, that's just the nature of the beast when it comes to candies, and it's also part of the allure they give to a paint job.. Great job!
STILL LIKE IT I ADMIRE YOU GUYS FOR STILL GOING THROUGH WITH STUFF ...
I love it! The shifting colors as your POV changes makes it look almost organic, like something found and grown in nature.
1. It really isn’t THAT bad! Seeing what it looked like when you started applying the first coats I expected much much worse!
2. I bet both of you started laughing seeing how bad it looked during those first coats 😂
I was saying to myself, that is not going on even! I’m not used to this on this channel. I thought he was having spray gun problems.
I think it turned out beautiful I see it did cover the base to the point you have no metallic flakes showing through but the. Green looks amazing❤
Just discovered your channel and I love it subscribed immediately
unsuccessful coating aside, that's a gorgeous green
as someone who is a card carryng member of the "Not a fan of Green" club, this color is gorgeous. I *think* I see what you mean by uneven color, cause it looks darker in places to me but that could just be shadows. the color is REALLY NICE though, and that's from someone who will pass on green every day of the week and twice on sundays
Well it’s definitely green……well sorta!🤪👍
Actually you could start a whole new trend there as that is really a pretty unique colour and it sort of suits the car. Plus all those coats I think you could take that almost anywhere and it wouldn't rust! Wait! Did you paint underneath?
I have a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche Black Diamond edition with a beautiful white pearl paint. It has 6 spoke chrome wheels. Will a black candy give the effect of a black chrome finish?
What's the best way to go about that?
Thanks!
I thinks it’s pretty cool. The blue candy has a nice flop to it in different lights. Kinda like the mystichrome effect. It’s not that bad of blunder. The greens looks awesome.
It’s actually a pretty sick Colour scheme
I quite liked this one. Wasn’t what I expected. I hoped for a tad more deeper green, but I would totally be satisfied with that.
Btw, I was subscribed to your channel for a long time, I thought. I guess CZcams dumped me from your subs. I subbed again.
Mystichrome is a color of legend.
Drawing similarities between it and the green abomination shown above feels like being punched in the gut.
It's actually a beautiful color. Kinda like a jewel tone. You can see the inconsistency, but it doesn't look bad.
I think the inconsistency helps with the jewel color.
Yup. Can definitely sell the car as a “Specialty Green, never seen or done before! A rare jewel.”
I love the resulting green tone and the way it transitions to a navy blue and black. But yeah, you can see a lot of imperfections and that’s 3 gallons of cobalt kandy that could have gone to a better cause.
What!! I love this color. Much more of a real green that I’ve ever seen. And yes, that’s hat happens when you mix yellow and blue, you get green.
This is crazy!!! Is there ANY WAY you guys would be inclined to do a CANDY RED over pearl white??? 😵💫👍🏽. I think that would be EPIC!!!!
that would be sick... can i put a second on seeing what that might look like.
I feel like they’d just have a similar problem
I'd like to see that
I would love to see any color over white
From a distance or is definitely dark green, but as you get closer it looks little lighter in some areas... not a good idea, but as someone mentioned about candy red over white pearl.. hmmm, that's a thought.. or even candy blue over white pearl.
I like how the edges appear darker and the panels a bit lighter, makes for a chatoyant effect, I love it!
I like it. The lighter and darker spots give it character and make it look cool.
i am not a fan of greens usually but this right here is WOW. definitely a win in my book. forest greens are always pleasant to look at.
Wow! You have to revisit this again sometime! I love, love, LOVE the color! Yes, the coverage isn’t show quality, but it doesn’t look as bad as what I was expecting.
same thought 👍😅
Maybe it's hard to tell properly not being next to it but i love it. That green is so vibrant and you get flashes of the blue and yellow coming through, albeit very subtle. 5/5 all the way.
I like it. Looks like a chromed emerald green. Very unique.
Honestly, I dig it. It's like a cheaty colorshift. Nine coats (?!) created a really interesting glaze. Laughed out loud at the reveal though, the change from the initial yellow was so striking.
Glad that you picked a yellow base, because it would not have turned out so good over blue's proper opposite color: orange.
Orange!
This is the color and effic I am going for on my 67 f100 I rate it a 5
Honestly I don't see how this is a failure! I expected massively obvious streaks or something weird, but there's none of that. It's softly mottled, maybe, and honestly looks wicked! I love how dark it turned out! I'd be curious to see gold & copper flake, like the silver flake-- over a royal purple with hypershift. I think it would be amazing. Maybe for Mardi Gras?
Ooh!!! Yes! I like your thought! That would be an excellent mix of color. :D
@Karl with a K Absolutely agreed. A spraying technique like that and they wonder why they have heavy spots? Give me a break. Also what gun is that? It appears to me that the air supply is a shop vac. Don’t even get me started on the orange peel.
Looks very nice, it needs a clearcoat though. Why was the rear M3 emblem not removed before paint ? Not sure what to think of all this.
I think it looks great I have a question it looks like you paint the same car over and over is that true or do you have different cars you paint
That turned out awesome! Definitely wasn’t expecting the outcome but it looks way better than I expected. I like the color shift cause it’s more natural looking and shows blues, greens, blackish & yellows.
From the distance the car looks amazing. You can see that it was going to be a beast for even coverage after your first pass. Nothing is a failure, its a teaching moment. How I would rate: Overall color is 5, eveness of color 2, willingness to do crazy stuff...off the scale. Thanks guys as always.
I’m looking at this car on an iPhone 7 so maybe I’m not seeing what I might see in person but the color is badass! The different hews of green just looks so good! Magnifico!
I wish my '95 Volvo looked this good. Love that shade of Green.
I like that honestly, looks almost like a color shift at times from dk green to hints of yellow. I know we don’t see the flaws like in person but I loved how it looked here in my screen and wouldn’t change it
Solid 3 for me. Thought I'd hate it, but it's giving me some hot wheels nostalgia as well as traditional hard candy vibes.
Yes!!! Color shifting hot wheels is exactly what came to mind!!!
My favorite color happens to be green, and this looks awesome on the video. Don't know how it looks in person, but here it looks great.
Spraying a candy color has always been difficult , and yes no matter what the color and no matter what the base if you get blotchy stripes its because you sprayed it wrong , the blotchy effect is caused by not spraying the candy even right from the beginning and no matter how many coats you put on it will never go away . Oh , and you can't spray it with an HVLP spray gun , you need the high air pressure to disperse and atomize the candy color . In the old days we used lacquer and it was much easier , you could thin the lacquer down until it was almost pure lacquer thinner , putting a much thinner coat of candy color on with each coat , the key was to wait long enough between coats so the candy color doesn't get hazy . You can do that with modern urethane paint but it's more difficult and takes more time , it has to be sprayed from a far distance so it goes on dryer but not too dry like sandpaper .
That looks freaking amazing!! Seriously, it looks like color-shifting racing green. I genuinely, honestly like that a lot!
Next time, try Cherry Red over that Yellow, and you might get color-shifting orange - Flame Orange!!!!
You can clearly see the texture and the unevenness, but the end result was definitely a cool (borderline '04 Rich) color. Makes me want to pull out the Snap-On paint gun and try something similar on my project! (I have a lot of bodywork to do, and since I'm going down to bare metal I may as well go all the way)
Not being a fan of green anything (except money of course), I REALLY love it!
That is an emerald green. At first I was like. No, no way. That's going to come out ugly. And then I was actually blown away. I like it.
To be honest, if you could get the color a little more even, I would love a car with this color scheme. I LOVE the green it came out as. 5 for color, 5 for effort, and 3 for execution.
Some paints just dont go on nicely no matter the effort put in this was a lesson taught to me by my father who has been painting vehicles for tbe majority of his life so i would not try scoring the execution like that
Colorwise, I think it’s great. Not a huge fan of greens, but I’d still give a 3.5-4 on color alone. But you’re right, it definitely didn’t lay down well.
Perfect emerald green. Love it😎
That looks amazing. It actually accentuates the BMWs lines
Not going to lie, that color actually looks sick! Love how it changes shades. I wiukd honestly rock this. 5 for me.
If I saw this on the street, my first thought would be, "I can NOT believe that someone actually rattle-canned a whole car!" But the green color was surprising and beautiful!I give it a hearty 5 for effort, just for the fact that you went to the extreme of 3 gallons and 9 coats in the hope of making it work! Many thanks for sharing this!
if you mean rattle can as in spray paint, I've seen many cars in my town that were blatantly full body spray painted. This is significantly better. The quality of this matches a lot of the higher price custom paints in my local area. And the color is a lot nicer too.
@@canikostar99 nah, that finish looks terrible
Just call it color changing green and it looks better already.
@@shalakabooyaka1480 Yeah. I don't come from a town where the custom paint shops give good finishes.
I'm not raging or arguing. I'm having a laugh because I know this doesn't look good compared to their normal quality, but their normal is workmanship p***. Comparing their work to what I see locally is like seeing a master level custom cabinet maker apologize for the wood stain not taking the way they wanted and comparing it to the defective item return department at Ikea.
@@canikostar99 I understand what you mean now, I can see that lol
I like it, it's a unique green that has a wrap kind of look to it.
Love it you captured the emerald city
I actually like the "uneven look" to me it gives the appearance of water ripples. I like the green color too.... not as much as the candy orange you did, but still a nice overall color
The unevenness is what makes it pop! Great Job on this fantastic paint job. Don’t think every paint job needs a uniform coating.
Thats clean it reminds me of the 90's Jaguar green
You did a great job it looks really stunning
The green color reminds me of my dad's Opal that he drove around in the 1970's. But the yellow 'hint' makes it interesting! I actually like it; it's not only unique, but it's exciting too once you catch a glimpse of the yellow underneath. Good work!
the green looks great and i think the uneven coverage of the blue candy gives it character because its really noticeable. i wonder what paint combination would get that kind of green and also have even coverage because that green is really great! :)
Green goblin bmw
Oh I love it!
