Why all this hate on any member of the stones? Brian Jones was a force and without him there would have been no under my thumb or mother's little helper, especially the way he made them sound. My first introduction to the stones was '84 with undercover. I loved it, every video was on Night Tracks and when I told my dad 'bout this "new" band with the cool videos he bought me the record (which he hated) he showed me his stones collection and I couldn't believe they were as old as they were cuz how cool their songs and vids were. I love'em all, even Taylor. long live the music of two of the most influential bands, the stones and the crue,
That's very democratic of you. I was 9-years old in 1964 when my Dad bought their first LP for me. I was also lucky to see Brian with the band in 1966. He was something to behold in concert! I remember reading how Brian was leaving the Stones, the band he founded, and I was not happy about it. Then the unspeakable happened a few weeks later. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news that Brian had died. To say I was devastated is an understatement. It took a bit of time for the truth about the shabby way Brian was treated to surface. Mick and Keith have made a career out of denying Brian's musical legacy and tarnishing his reputation as a man.I suppose it is to expected since they've been living a lie since Brian died. I detest them both for their vile behavior. I'm am not so democratic.
empressohno well said, man I bet when the news was out about Brian leaving the stones, many were dumbfounded. I look no further than the "Flowers" album cover to see how Brian was being treated by the band, shameful.

@@@charltonmcmillen7422 Watts has come out saying that the one thing that Brian loved was his band and "they" took that away from him. How horribly sad. They were waiting for him to leave forever.
Brian seems being the most reachable of these kids; strange, when knowing how it turned out later. The interviewer was asking relevant questions. Strange, that Mick & Keith did not use this opportunity to give credit/mentioning some great american blues artists that inspired them. /Tony
Actualy, Brian was quite talented. A self taught musician, he played a variety of different instruments on many stones songs such as: marimba, sitar, piano, organ, recorder, harmonica, cello, saxaphone, and guitar, giving much character and color to those rather plain tunes. He also was a great slide guitarist. Some of his greatest slide work was on, No Expectations, Jigsaw Puzzle, Little Red Rooster. He also did a great job on the Stone's cover of Mona.
The level of jealousy of Jones by Richards fans amazes me. It seems from what I've read about Mick and Keith is they were jealous of the attention that he naturally drew.
Brian was "quite talented?" That's like saying George Best was fairly competent. You forgot his Appalachian dulcimer work on Lady Jane. Quite talented? He was one of the greatest geniuses the music world has ever seen.
3:27..."Don't we fellers ?" Hilarious ! 5:36...Richards rolling eyes.....when he was still the shy lout who needed a wordly Pallenberg to change into the "elegantly wasted" dandy who even began to acquire some of Brian's mannerisms.
Mick and Keith are both in Brian’s pocket here - Brian Jones was ‘the’ cool 😎 Rolling Stone in those early days - just need to read what Anita Pallenberg had to say about Brian and how Mick & Keith were ‘student devotees’ of Jones’ musicianship. They just changed the narrative later on to suit their own public personas. Without Brian - no Rolling Stones - it’s that simple. Cheers 🥂
It really is great to see the lads so animated back in the day. Just bursting with drugs and vitality and all of those other great things in life.. Charley and Bill are the bookends and the power train for this video as well as all dem tings mon. ( the music )
One wonders how different the Stones' legacy would be today if Brian Jones hadn't got off his wheels. Certainly he was a major cog back then in what probably still is their most productive period.
Pretty interesting power dynamics: Brian dominant, Mick trying (and failing) to butt in and appear as smart, Keith non-existent. I'm even wondering if Brian's apparent shortcomings when it comes to songwriting had not more to do with paranoia and lack of confidence and being isolated from bandmates. It's not clear from their early efforts the Glimmer Twins had any more natural talent for it, and we know from them and the Beatles how critical collaboration is for it to blossom.
they would have stole lots of his lyrics and ideas am positive of that Brian loved to write ..even when he signed autographs he would write a little note above ..Keith n MIck were bullys to him ..they lied n scammed and its their guilt why they keep trying to erase him from everything ...
Name a memorable song after Brian's departure that still gets regular airplay. Maybe a handful. The Jones era is when they propelled to stardom. Start me up -rubbish.
+Sam Cole But he contributed to the music. That's brian playing sitar, flutes, and recorders, etc. on some of the Stones most memorable songs like Paint it Black, Lady Jane, Ruby Tuesday. His former bandmates have said that Brian was the best musician in the band. He could play an instrument he'd never even seen before within 20 minutes. I'm paraphrasing but at their induction to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame Jagger mentioned something along those lines about Brian - how he added his special kind of magic to some of their greatest songs through his unique musical gifts.
Brian wrote plenty that he wasn't credited for due to the Glimmer's obnoxious habit of plagiarizing the work of others, namely Brian Jones, bill Wyman and later, Mick Taylor. Do some research and quit drinking the GlimmerAid.
How 'white' of Jagger to credit Brian for anything considering the fact Brian taught him how to play the harmonica and basically everything he knows. This jerk couldn't even read music at that point in time and I'm not he does even now. Keefy's RRHOF was an absolute disgrace...he has some serious guilt issues that cloud his very selective memory and judgement.
best comment of the interview. his honest, accurate, scalding and rude assessment is true rolling stone -- mick and keith agreed, and learned how to be a rolling stone from brian jones, clearly.
Love the stones miss Brian Jones but Tamela Motown was in the north of England along with Northern Soul. Dance halls like the Mecca were playing all Motown music. And they came over from America to play at the Wakefield Theatre Club they were great.
That is an amazing interview to watch in 2022. I remember them so well from that time. Brian really looks great and he sounds very sharp and well poised. He had such a charisma about him. I mean Mick was really cool as the front man you can't deny him that but Brian was really something else. It was amazing to see a band with two members with that type of personal magnetism but in those years Brian dominated over Mick and the others kind of as you see in this video. Smart, sharp, well spoken, that Is how I remember him when I would see them on American shows.. In addition he dressed sharply and creatively which added to his stage persona. He made such a huge impression and this video, in spite of its age, brings that all back so well. Very much appreciated. No matter what he will always be thought of as the No 1 Rolling Stone at least to me even some 50+ years after his death. Great job with that Sprezztura!.
They are gentleman. I've learned things about them that are respectable. Charlie cried when the call came to the studio that Brian was dead. Charlie started crying. You know what Mick said like the callous sell-out he is: "It must go on." Charlie admitted that they stole the Stones from Brian years later. Only Bill and Charlie attended the funeral. The whole affair was callous and shoddy.
@Spiderrico123 It's crazy to think how musically talented he was. He really was a genius. Yeah, it's a tragic story. There just wasn't any help for a guy like him, whether it be for his emotional issues or his drug addiction. Also, his band mates didn't understand and they probably gave him a harder time than he deserved because he was so fragile. These days he'd be shipped off to rehab, be put under the care of a shrink and never have died at such a young age.

No, I think Brian precisely could not handle that the control of the band was wrested from his hands by Oldham to Jagger and Richards. It was HIS band after all. The fact that Oldham encouraged Jagger to be a frontman and Brian's reluctance to submit his songs to the band or inability to write commercial pop songs sealed his fate in the band. @Canales Works Totally fine .
Brian WAS talented , no doubt about it but he DID admit it was the others who wrote music .
And they DID become "just" a rock band post Brian but they DID have a multitude of hits under their belt , no denying .
Brilliant stage presence in the vein of Queen or ACDC .
Having said that I always thought Mick was overrated and couldn't for the life of me see what others saw - never thought of him as a Bowie or an Iggy more like a try-hard but there you go .
@@chateaupig826 Vocally Mick has almost nothign to offer. He made up for it by being one of th most energetic stage performers in rock history...but consider the 70s wherein you could go see someone like Daltry belt out high note after high note AND deliver great stage prsence.
There are a handful of really good post Brian songs, but the bigger hits from the 70s and early 80s are standard rock fare.
Charlie Watts once said, "No Jones, no Stones."
And also that Brian could be rough and inerself one.
@@Methilde What does "inerself one" mean?? Because 'inner self' is your own emotion and spirituality. So what are you trying to say??
@@ahbowakawapoussepousse2712 I'm French I was meaning egotic one, in the significance of Stendhal.
@@Methilde I think you mean egotistic perhaps?? Sure he was flamboyant. Egotistic?? That term is reserved for Mick.

I look no further than the "Flowers" album cover to see how Brian was being treated by the band, shameful.
cd mc - Because they treated Brian appallingly & continue to minimise his contribution & paint him as a nightmare when he isn't here to defend himself.
@@@empressohno
Definitely! Jones was the main man. As its been said numerous times: No Jones, No Stones!
@@@charltonmcmillen7422
Watts has come out saying that the one thing that Brian loved was his band and "they" took that away from him. How horribly sad. They were waiting for him to leave forever.
Brian will always be better than Mick and Keith, in my opinion.
always always
Nah.
Nope, nope. Brian only added flavor to their music.

They're still surfing the wave the Brian created.
Sean Jones - great comment
Hell yeah, Brian was fire.
That wave died out long ago!!
We like James Brown & the Motown lot DON'T we fellas?! LOLL XD I love Brian!!
On Jiggsaw Puzzle it's Keith on slide guitar, crazy the level of ignorance with Brian's fans.
@@ianthomas5955 Righto , brainwave -is all that arrogance really helping further your cause ?

Fair enough, point taken. But still. . .
Thanks for the videos! They are great. Brian Jones should be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame..
He was.
I have just started to listen to the Stones and I am by far a Brian Jones fan.
3:27..."Don't we fellers ?" Hilarious ! 5:36...Richards rolling eyes.....when he was still the shy lout who needed a wordly Pallenberg to change into the "elegantly wasted" dandy who even began to acquire some of Brian's mannerisms.
Nicely put.
Brian Jones mentions my town TWICE ... WINNIPEG ... WOOHOOOO!
Jim M and Montreal 😊
You can tell Brian Jones was the leader of The Rolling Stones at that time.
Por que será que eu sinto tanta admiração pelo Brian jones. Quando ele morreu eu ainda nem tinha nascido.
E vim conhece-lo á pouco tempo.
Brain & Charlie were true Jazz, R&B musicians. M&K wanted
fame and pop rock & roll.
The same thing as at the Beatles
I don't care for Watts too much: he's a follower!

Brian is my no1 man always
Mick and Keith might have wrote the lyrics, but Brian wrote the music and gave the group its style.
What a load of shite mate!!
Charlie said clearly that Brian never succed to write a complete song.
@@williardbillmore5713
And Stue said that Brian has a "potential" but don't succed to write a song.
Brian totally meant the disgusting attitude towards black people at the time when he said that! RIP Brian.
'Brian Jones, how you doing?'
I melted
Charlie answers every question with the detail it deserves :-)
yeah the golden stone

Bill Wyman looks absolutely beautiful here. I love his smile. It's so cute!

idk why but this comment cracked me up
You, sir, have won this post 3:).

yes Mick the prick
Of course.
I miss Brian Jones.
Back when Brian positioned himself as the leader of the band. (Mick can't get a word in edgewise!)
Fantastic interview thank you for uploading :)
Name a memorable song after Brian's departure that still gets regular airplay. Maybe a handful. The Jones era is when they propelled to stardom. Start me up -rubbish.
Moonlight Mile, Wild Horses, Angie, Happy, Waiting on a Friend, so many more
+Yeti Van Marshall Brian didn't write though
Charlie would rather be having his eye lids sewn shut than be doing this 😂
Keith lost his passport, haha
THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!

This is incredible, Thankyou :}
"They probably thought that Tamla Mowtown was a person" Brian Jones
best comment of the interview. his honest, accurate, scalding and rude assessment is true rolling stone -- mick and keith agreed, and learned how to be a rolling stone from brian jones, clearly.
Mick's cheeky smile at 5.36 when he looks at the others
Great !
Yeah, Brian looks so great here! He’s so ballsy!
Wow...it's weird to see how Brian dominates the interview.
Brian taught him how to play.
Brian is the GOLDEN STONE : )
Sure I love Jagger & Richards etc but Brian will always be my Number 1 favorite : )..
Why is this video titled "Brian Jones and the Rolling Stones" I was under the impression that Brian was a Rolling Stone, oh well silly me.
before he was keef. seriously he sounds so different here to what he wound up sounding like in 5 years
he was, Brian was so cool
@Spiderrico123
It's crazy to think how musically talented he was.
They were absolutely nothing without Brian.
yes he taught them how to be rolling stones.. they learned well, but nothing like the original.
@@lachanteuse1ROXANNEFONTANAwithout Brian there whould never be a Rolling Stones for decades and decades the stones were never quite the same they evolved into a whole different band all together in my opinion once Bill Wyman left the stones I knew it was the end of the stones the whole band should have stopped a long time ago after steel wheels and now Charlie he’s gone the whole band should have stopped after steel wheels
I miss you. Brian jones
The best of the rolling stones
Awesome!
Jones was never one to stand in the background.
That is beautiful.
yes, that's why jagger/richards couldn't wait to get rid of him. jones was the real leader of the rolling stones!
too right
"Don't we fellas?!" (3:28)
They didn't like American attitudes, but they didn't seem to mind taking American money to play here. Brian Jones is a perfect example of why a person can be very bright, yet very self-destructive at the same time. He had an IQ in the 130's but Bill Wyman once wrote: "Very influential, very important, and then slowly lost it - highly intelligent - and just kind of wasted it and blew it all away."
Jagger and Richards look so jealous in this interview
