"Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age" is a role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix. An entry in the longrunning Dragon Quest video game series, it was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 in July 2017, and will be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in September 2018, as well as for the Nintendo Switch sometime beyond 2018. Ummm i want to try the franchise but i'm new tl it so do you think VIII is a good entry to start or do i play XI?
@@aroncarbajal4922 Either DQ VIII (8) or DQ XI are great entry points, but XI was designed with newcomers in mind to help ease them into not only the feel of the game but the game mechanics as well. So if you're new the series, it might be best to start with DQ XI first and then if you enjoyed that game, try out DQ 8 and the other games of the series too. ^^
If you end up loving DQ XI, you will definitely love DQ VIII (it's my personal favorite and the one I first started with when I first tried the series myself. It was love at first sight (or play-through rather lol) Been a fan of the series ever since and even started delving into the older entries, each one being a blast to play through. ^^
I'd definitely say though XI is right up there with DQ 8 as my favorites of the series, but that's just me. ^^ Gonna re-buy this for the Switch even though I bought it when it first came out for PS4. XD Ooh, gonna get Dragon Quest builders 2 as well. =D Been looking forward to that game for ages!

Edit: For a while now Fire Emblem and Megami Tensei have replaced DQ as my best friend
Sword & Shield was a disappointment. Gamefreak is too lazy to even make area textures and animations. Square Enix is willing to delay their games to make sure that their finished product feels natural and lifelike, even if it's not made with their home engines like Crystal Works or Luminous Studio. Kingdom Hearts III, Dragon Quest XI, and Final Fantasy VII Remake are all made using Unreal Engine 4

Man, how many years has it been? I was obsessed with Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball as a kid. I’m 25 now and a couple of years ago I played through XI for a trip down memory lane; it felt so satisfying knowing the series was still going, still there like the little kid inside me is. Then today I seen the news about Akira Toriyama and it brought it all back. He made life better for so many of us growing up, and I think that’s a beautiful legacy to leave behind; as long as those adventurous kids live on deep inside us, Toriyama lives on too. Rest in peace to a once in a generation talent, what a life to live and what an incredible thing he done for us all.

It's not really their fault. Square Enix never really advertised the series as much as they should have so when people saw Eleven, they were like, "Who the hell is this?!" or, "Oh another anime swordfighter." I know it gets annoying to hear that a lot but you can't blame them. But I hope Eleven, Three, Four, and Eight's entry into smash will help introduce people to the series.
I had that reaction when I first saw the reveal- and now I love him becuase I ended up getting into Dragon Quest super hard core.

Literally Dragon Quest Is more popular in Japan than most franchises in smash. Also everyone knew he was in but western people didn't want to believe it cuz they just hate any character with a sword.
@@cgnfake6721 You're wrong. DQ is the 2nd most Popular JRPG in Japan, they even have a holiday dedicated to the franchise. Not only that but an art director that works for Smash bros posted an image of a DQ shield on his Instagram account and gave everyone hints. Also dataminers found a file a file name for DLC character #2 to be called "Brave" which correlates to a class in DQ.
The leakers only confirmed what was already obvious.
