akira toriyama has sadly passed away at the age of 68, gone to soon
from dragon quest, to dragon ball, dr slump, chrono trigger and more he left an amazing legacy that will be loved and fondly remembered by those across the globe for years to come

The one intro I don’t skip. I got this on Switch, 40 hours in and I can already say it’s my favorite game of all time. I don’t even play RPGS that much but wow, what an amazing, amazing game.

After 260+ hours and 100% achievement rate, i have to say, that after i finished the game it changed me. Not only did it made me an eternal dragon quest fan, but i could not stop my tears in the ending cinematic. After the screen went black...all i could do is stare at the dark tv screen for minutes....I still cant consume the fact...i finished it...I dont want it to end....ever!
Now we wait for the next one
After playing the demo i think i will buy the full game..which is better fix or moving camera?
Play 1-3 and you will enjoy the game more.

The orchestral hit right after 2:00 is so beautifully timed with that sword raise. 30hrs in, and loving it so far. Great score!

One of the best JRPG I have played so far, Character design 10/10, Graphic 10/10, Story 10/10, Music 10/10. Definitely one of the best JRPG experience. For one who love JRPG, totally recommend to play it. English version will release on Sep 4, 2018.

This opening is so epic. It's looks, sounds, and feels like an opening of the grand adventure.
Probably my favorite game of all time.
Its amazing that Japan came back strong with the PS4 since 2016.
Started with Final Fantasy XV, then Persona 5, then Nier Automata, then Yakuza, then Monster Hunter and Ni no Kuni 2.
And now Square is giving us both Dragon Quest XI and Kingdom Hearts 3 this year. Great to be a PS4 user

Got this game last week since it's quarantine and I must say... It doesn't disappoint!! If you like old school JRPG's, this is a masterpiece! Now 25 hours into the game and can't get enough. Not much grinding is also a big plus :)
The only grinding i had to do was caused by me skipping a lot of battles. So yeah, it's definitely well made

@@riskyworks Perhaps a little bit.. but boy did I cry in act 2 (you know what scene I'm referring to...). The final part can be a bit grindy though, but depends on the level you have on that moment.

This game has such a unique feel to it, for sure in my top 5 games of this generation. Dragon Quest VIII has always been my favorite JRPG, until this game came out! It’s everything I expected from it and more! Looking forward to the future of this legendary franchise!
I don't feel it's unique. It's about as traditional as can be. But I think that actually makes it stand out. That it's old school JRPG and is not afraid to traditional tropes. After all there is a reason those tropes became so traditional.

@@stark6324 I agree. The only real flaw I have with it is the switching to 2D. I feel it holds the game back in it's levels. It should have just been full 3D. Many of the environments are very limited compared to a full 3D JRPG such a xenoblade to still make them roughly the same in 2D.
2D RPG also still have their place like with Octopath Traveler but that is a full 2D game.

Final Fantasy has consistently tried to reinvent the wheel when it comes to JRPGs, trying art styles that try to blend realism with over the top sized weapons and larger than life locales and zones. While I still consider myself a fan of Final Fantasy, I recently returned to the simplicity and fun cartoonish designs of Dragon Quest, and have been immediately reminded of a quote Verdi once made about his German contemporary, Wagner: “The man invariably tries to fly when one could walk with better results.” Dragon Quest is old school, but it’s also endlessly replayable and will never get old. Sometimes, when something works, it doesn’t need to be fixed. Tweaked, overhauled, but why try to fly, when walking, you can see the same beautiful sky?
What I like is that with the Toriyama art style, they made it feel more old school (not counting the very circular eyes of most characters) because sometimes with dragon ball super I don’t feel the same art style
Everything about this game is old school. It's about as standard "medieval fantasy" as it gets. But I don't think that's a bad thing. The amount of new games that play those tropes completely straight is actually very small.
I loved DQ VIII and I cannot wait to play this! Sooo many years of waiting.

Dragon Quest always gives that big nostalgia from watching Dai no Daibouken as a kid, I always loved the music from the series and I know it all comes from the videogames That's one of the main reasons I got this game, totally recomended by the way!
