  • The most unsung heroes of the games are the people making them, and for this finale, we're turning the light over to them.

Very cool retrospective. Thank you for putting so much work into it. I was a background artist at H.E. from 1996 to 2005.

Hey...Thank You. A well-done vid, really brought it back for me--I wish I'd have had this guide to my co-workers when I was working on the games. But I guess that involves time travel, and we know what happens then...

Fantastic! So many talented folks! I loved getting to work on the Backyard Games for the Mac, as a contract developer for 6 months. Loved the design of those games. The earlier story based games were fantastic too, they reminded me of my own childhood and playing games on "MicroKids" a quarterly distribution from the 80's that provided a bunch of games, in story form.

Hey, Timothy! Great stuff. This is a great overview of just a few of the people who put these games together. There were so many talented folks!

Wait, what!? I was dissed!? Ah well, I was a noob after all back in those days.....I had the honor of working at Humongous Entertainment for almost a decade. In that time I designed a lot of the characters in Freddi Fish 3 - Gill Barker, Pierre, Rosy Pearl, Magenta the Monkey, and Claw the bully, I created the vector art for a lot of the backyard sports logos like the MelonHeads, Rim Rattlers, Hot Doggers, and many others....I also did a TON of interface work for the Backyard sports PC games. I also designed the menus for Pajama Sam's rainy day activities, and one stop fun shop. What a blast!! The cherry on top was designing all the levels for Backyard Skateboarding. My first 3D game! It was an awesome start to what has become a very long career, and I've never forgotten the advice, mentorship and creative direction from MANY of the amazing creators mentioned in this video. Miss you all.

This was fantastic! All of the Humongous games had such awesome music and voice acting. Loved this final shout-out of respects to all of the people who made these wonderful games as great as they were.

how come spy fox was the only one to not get a one stop fun shop series?

It's easy to look at Humongous' past and wince. But I can't help but have hope for its future. Now that most of the games are available for modern audiences, and with Freddi Fish 3 and Putt-Putt Travels Through Time coming to the Nintendo Switch, more people know about Humongous Entertainment then ever. Sure, a new Putt-Putt, a Freddi Fish 6, a Pajama Sam 5, or a Spy Fox 4 all seem like pipedreams, and I think it's safe to say we ain't EVER getting new Big Thinkers, Let's Explore or Fatty Bear games. And that's okay. Because if there's one thing Humongous Entertainment taught us, it's how to think our way out of difficult situations.

Right now, I'm taking a break, but yes, I am, and that'll make it easier when I do the compilation.
