- I woke up this morning in Tzaneen, South Africa, to find the river below to have swelled enormously during the night. There had been an insane thunderstorm, waking me up at 4 in the morning, that came with torrential downpour. The lodge's river raft was gone and the the Tzaneen Dam was overflowing. I was planning to take a rest day and work on editing videos but it turned out to be an unexpected day of investigating the overflowing dam and locating the missing raft...

I actually know that funny avocado farmer! He's my neighbor đ
Cool! Invite him to watch it together ;-)
What a cool place! Hope to visit one time
Wow what a coincidence!
I grew up in Tzaneen and my family still lives there đđ
He has such a trendy chin diaper. Where can I get one?
I have to say that seeing you in my country and interacting with my country people really makes me swell with pride. We are as South Africans so excited that you chose SA.
@@mviv6339 you would be if it was your country too..
This is what makes your videos better than any other person doing something similar. Youâve proven riding on two wheels isnât about the destination, but more about the journey. Well done Noraly.....đđ

Some people are just lucky - some people just make their own luck, like Noraly!
If there is a sighn you now its big problems in SA
Locked down in my flat living my life vicariously through Noraly.
With that amount of water, that county must have the greatest of agriculture. The B&B owners are really a great couple taking Noraly on an excursion and giving all the stories and the facts. I always love the most when Noraly shares her encounters with the locals.
When you grow old you will have this beautiful life of yours to look back on. I am glad to watch it unfold. Ride safe!
That is the cool thing about South Africa. You are now in the lush green province of Limpopo. Later you will find yourself in the great plains of the Free State on to the deserts of the Northern Cape, on to the arrid geological landscape of the Karoo and suddenly you arrive at the white beaches of Cape Town. A world in one country đ
Great video! I am from Germany, i lived for 2 years in SA and my son was born in Pretoria.I lived at the Hartbeespoort. Such a great country! Looking forward to visit SA and to see my best friends.
What I like on your videos (and those of other adventurers), that the world is a beautiful place and not as bad as it sometimes looks like in the news.
Such nice, self sufficient, hard working, down to earth folks over there. Always interesting, thanks!
And they are hated. I feel sorry for them.

The area around Tzaneen, Magoebaskloof, and Haenertsberg is a hidden gem of South Africa. I used to live there when I was a volunteer. The road through Magoebaskloof is fun on a bike, too!
Never apologize when plans change, it was an interesting episode! That feels like real travel, which we all miss these days.
Worst storm of the year!
South African: "I'd better put my flip-flops on."
Gotta love those people!
Same here in Brazil lol
You just have to love countries where flip flops are the main footwear đž
Whahaha. Spot on
In South Africa ehenna âflip flopâ turns into a âslip slopâ. They manage either so very well!
@Veritas Aequitas Hehehe... As a fellow South African I can vouch that it is normal to see a farmer, aka (n Boer) in flip-flops, sandals or even bare foot... on heat summers day. and 98.5% of the time they will also even only where shorts all year round. Only on Sundays will you see them in long pants. There is a local saying we say in the winter when its really cool... "Brrr, its so cool today I had to put on two pairs of shorts"
Itchy Boots is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!

Impressive to hear different languages being spoken in your videos and your interactions with different people across the world. đ„°
Came for a motorcycleadventure vlog, stayed for a overflowing dam adventure! NGL this was great content and I forgot about motorcycles after 30 seconds
I can't express how much I am loving your adventures. This is my 3rd time watching. My first was your trip to Namibia. SA is the most beautiful country in the world. The other countries we surrounded by are also so unique in their beauty. Pity there is so much corruption and greed. Get rid of the politicians who spoil our countries and give it a bad name. Thumbs up to you for showing us South Africa in all its glory.
you were in my home town Tzaneen...THANK YOU SO MUCH for visiting our province Limpopo
I am so glad you did not head straight to Cape Town like so many tourists. South Africa has so much more to offer. đđ
đđ đđ I noticed that
Hi đSouth African here, wish i could do the trip you are doing all over our beautiful country! Just got myself a 800GS many "lekker" kilometers to do. Ride safeđ€
*Stands directly below neglected dam after very heavy rains*-âSo glad I wasnât riding in that rain.â One of the many reasons I love Itchy Boots.
In a way, the detour because of the possible landslide was a blessing. You have met the locals and the location is perfect. The room overlooking the water is extremely nice and I think you have captured the whole scene and the flood perfectly. Well done đ
mama Africa, love this continent so much, its a beautiful place for all of us, we should take care of this beautiful continent, it saddens me that corrupt leaders never let us enjoy our continent, the gentleman told us about how 3 different contractors had neglected the dam even after being paid, thanks itchy boots for show casing our motherland, love from a Kenyan.
Thats the problem with the whole of Africa, and why the productivity reduces every year.
They even lay on a flood for you to film Noraly, you are amazing.
These vids make me so jealous while being stuck at home in The Netherlands -.- . Really happy for you that you're out on the road again though ! keep on riding :D
Make you jealous? Dude, I'm from Brazil and I would love to be in your place haha
Same here...I'm stuck indoors in UK, stormy for next 3-4 days. Just looking at my bike from the window, she's under covers. It's half march, I wanna ride!!! :D
@kratos Iâm 27 Iâm safe outside too đ
Welcome to Africa, where anything can happen anytime. And itâs all magical.
Two sayings I have heard many times here in SA:
1. "TIA" - meaning This is Africa and any damn thing can happen at anytime out of the blue for no apparent rhyme or reason, Usually said with a shrug after some weird event!
2. "MMBA" - meaning Miles and Miles of Bloody Africa when someone from some crowded country says "wow look at that huge and empty landscape" - as if to imply all of Africa is just empty space - which it more or less is!
8:31 "U shouldn't put cream on your feet."
Really Hilarious đđđ
This season isn't just beautiful, it is also hilarious with the comments from fellow You Tubers. Love to laugh.
The last few weeks have been a Noraly video fest! This is a great thing!
As a Saffa in Canada, I was "super excited" to see Noraly going to South Africa.
wow....the dam is pretty cool...and the view amazing...oh what an exciting place to be....enjoy and stay safe...let the owners know that they have the most amazing place....and I wanted to see a hippo!!!! but, I will settle on the bush buck...it's adorable..and always happy hear about an animal being rescued..."if you can hear your fears...shift a gear!!"
what a kind peoples.. first they said there is no room avilable. and then welcome you and became a good host as well as friend... what a experience....
I am so jealous. You are in my home country. So beautiful there. Enjoy your stay. Thanks for sharing

Excellent - nothing like some great Afrikaner hospitality!
They are all examining the destruction from the high water. Noraly is admiring a random motorcycle. That's my girl!!
aboversite - noticed that too ! ! !
Looking at other bikes for Noraly is like some sort of âberoepsmisvormingâor professional deformity. Most of us have this manner of checking out others ways of doing things or tools we use daily and compare. In Noralyâs case it comes naturally, sheâs got a very analytical and inquisitive mindset and that makes watching her adventure videos so enjoyable.....jusayin!
Every video with you is a bonus đ
Love to be a little bit back in South-Africa.
Don't know what was told about hippo's off camera but just remember not put yourself between a hippo and the water. The water is their safe place and they like a free escape route.
Really nice to see you getting to know local farmers/ranchers, and spending time with them. Such friendly, helpful, down to earth people.
Welcome to SA Itchy hooe you enjoy it here! I'm a big fan đđïž
Scary stuff with the power and ferocity of water.

Its not the people that make a country bad, its the politicians of the government... Enjoying this experience with you
You took the right decision to stop in front of that lodge..
Great girl, to interact with the locals and have them show you a few things of the area, I believe on your personal level that make your trip be more thrilling
".... went off one by one in a hurry to the banks of the great grey-green, greasy, Limpopo River, all set about with fever-trees, to borrow new noses from the Crocodile." Now I'm going to have to find my copy of 'Just so Stories' so I can be terrified by them as I was almost 60 years ago!
I hope you make your way all the way to Cape Town. South Africa is a beautiful, large country with many different cultures. I miss the country terribly, but moved to give my kids more safety and opportunities. If you do go down to the Cape and are interested there was a quad biking experience I did with my wife that incorporated some history and details about the the area. I can find out more if you are interested, I'm sure they wouldn't have an issue taking the journey on your bike, or one of theirs.
Discussing Dams and Flooding. Isn't that a national pastime in the Netherlandsđ?
Soo true !
Yes, and it would also have been so to South Africa,
if the government would take care of business instead of corruption.
Thatâs a good one!!! Lol.
Flooding is also a big topic in the central areas of the us, Mississippi , Missouri and Ohio rivers flood heavily as well.
That struck me too!
The Dutch are all about massive waterworks, and here our Noraly gets to inspect a dam in flood in Africa. So cool!
Love your videos Noraly!
Thank you! Your videos are fresh & simple, without any elaboration or unnecessary drama. Very well filmed & narrated, a pleasure to watch. I feel like I'm there with you. Thank you for sharing your adventures, especially this 'non-riding' day!
As an expat I spend some time in Nelspruit looking after my Parents and during the day sneaked out volunteering on a Macadamia Farm. Very much enjoyed Afrikaans and the great Hospitality. You are so lucky Noraly.

Hi Noraly great that you met some afrikaans people.. or Boere. Lovely people. Boere meaning Farmer. They have a deep love for nature and animals. Yes Afrkaans language is very similar too Dutch. . Afrikaaner people are master trades men and crafters they work well with their hands.
I was thinking SA was going to suck, it's amazing! So beautiful and friendly people.
SA is an astonishing place. Most of what is written in the Western press is probably true somewhere in South Africa, but they never tell you how good it is in most of the country. I do have some reserve about Noraly travelling alone there, but I'd have a similar reserve about her travelling alone in London, Birmingham or Manchester too.
A word of warning. The first time you visit southern Africa, you will become totally addicted. You will never stop wanting to return. I cannot wait for the world to return to something like normal so I can return.
We sure have our problems, but it is still an awesome place.

Nice to see something a little different and say hi to Bok Bok!

Noraly your sense of adventure knows no bounds and for that I are grateful. I can't wait to see more of you and your bike in South Africa, great choice for the next chapter !
Noraly, in the last episode when I saw the river flowing with you looking from your room and you mentioned the storm that had occurred earlier, based on the flow and condition, I had an eerie feeling that if a storm resurfaced, the bank may overflow and I was hoping you were high enough.
Great shot of the dam at Limpopo and interesting information. Wow, the floating dock did end up in "Timbuktu". The speed of the river was dangerously awesome. Cute guy on the dam.
Your landlord, his wife and their friends are very nice. It's ALL because of YOUR accepting and outgoing character. We keep telling you through all 4, now 5 seasons, you exude this wonderful aura. That's why your positive outlook supercedes you. YOU ARE ONE AMAZING PERSON!

Great to see you in my home country. I actually represented my province (Western Province) in a boat fishing competition at Tzaneen Dam a few years ago. Also used to stay in Hoedspruit and we did our shopping once a month in Tzaneen.
Coming down from the top of the Dam was a bit scary. Love the Afrikaans accent.
What a day! Glad you stayed put and chose not to continue your adventure in that weather. Ride safe Noraly!
Thank you for your fabulous reports and for the bravery it takes to bring them. No boring travelogue with Itchy Boots.
Always aventure with you!!! Amazing day for you and US. Thanks good luck to the weather
All your previous adventures have been enthralling and this one is shaping up to be no different. Loving the videos as always.
Hahaha it's so funny to hear them speak Afrikaans because I am Dutch too and I can kind of understand what they are saying but it's so strange LOLZ
Because of Itchy Boots, I began studying Dutch 6 months ago, mostly through Duolingo, and yesterday I asked in a comment if she could communicate with Afrikaans speakers. Got my answer today. Ik bekijk graag haar video's!
Dankie- Danke same meaning if I'm correct
I've lived in South Africa for a couple of months (in Port Elizabeth) and I loved when people spoke Afrikaans. I already loved Dutch before and hearing many similarities in Afrikaans made me feel a bit closer to home (I'm from Germany, not that far from the Dutch border). And I even understood some parts of it, though I didn't speak any Afrikaans or Dutch at all. So I guess it must be really awesome hearing Afrikaans for the first time but probably (?) also a bit "weird" (not meant in a negative way) to listen to for dutch people? :-)
@@taylanalbayrak8508 My father lived in South Africa for about 19 years (1962-1981) and he often traveled around the country either for work or simply for leisure, he learned and spoke english mostly but quite some Afrikaans too. Sometimes he got into Namibia and there, he would tell me, german was mostly spoken. SA fascinated him, he would love to see these videos, but he died in 2006.
â@@horse_withno_name8211 Like every language it gives an interesting insight into our history. I learned many years ago about the "German South West Africa" colony of the German Empire and that its territory - if I remember correctly - mainly was covering what later became the independent and beautiful Namibia. Until today somewhere around 1 percent of its population still speaks German. And just because of this video and your comment I am now very interested in if it sounds any different than my spoken form of German (High German). It's so interesting!
South Africa really is such an interesting country with a stunning nature and many wonderful and lovely people! I miss it very much!
Thank you for your comment!
May your father rest in peace.
Looks like your ride just got exponentially more difficult with the massive flood. I'm sure dealing with lots of muddy roads are going to be in the next videos. Ride safe. Oh yeah, and my 26 year old daughter is in love with the avocado farmer you met on the Dam :)
