This seems like the perfect episode to comment this story since NL is talking about good canadians to crash your car listening to; a few months back I had a serious motorbike crash and during the crash I thought I might not make it. I was listening to NL play isaac when it happened, and I was happy to have a familiar voice, even of someone I dont know, when i was going out. So if you happen to see this NL thanks for making isaac videos, you were nearly the last thing I heard in life.

NL was seriously cooking in those last 3 minutes. Even when bits bomb, if the bit incorporates a stupid/cringe take it'll end up funny anyway.
40:22 Whenever NL does his "meaningless stat item in RPG or RPG-elements game" joke, his example is always a pure damage upgrade, which is funny because those are the best items in Isaac.

Look I usually shelve my Type A inclinations but if you're gonna say it, nah, he just never looks for secret rooms, uses the d6 really badly, doesn't make proper use of sac rooms or boss trap rooms or even curse rooms sometimes, never weighs devil room vs angel room, etc. His dodging is often good but his target prioritizing is ass. Man plays bad. And it's fine that he does! But he definitely does lol
@@imptwins my point is that you shouldn't have to be playing the game completely optimally and squeeze every single bit of juice out of every floor. just to get a damage and/or tears up by the womb. obviously game knowledge should be rewarded but the item pools have been so watered down that it's a rarity to see something useful
@@hntrofdmads I just don't think that's true. Sac rooms are crazy good if you use them right (ie only when you have 10+ health to play with), angel rooms are great and the option for a guaranteed one is so strong, curse rooms seem higher yield on average, same with shops, secret pool is CRAZY now, boss trap rooms are really good, devil shell game is mad underappreciated... The ONLY people whose runs got worse in Repentance are people who go item room > boss > devil deal > next floor, ie NL lol.
I'm not saying he NEEDS to change the way he plays but if he doesn't he's gotta expect some real dogwater runs every now and then

anyway this is completely besides the point (and i'm having a minor argument in the youtube comments section so i may as well kill myself now). you're acting like i'm saying "there are no good item pools and there are no ways to make up for that". i'm saying that existing item pools have been generally watered down, and that on average, it takes longer and is harder to get meaningful stat ups. the fact that you can get more items by grinding out floors (and therefore be more likely to not get something like POP) doesn't change the watering down of the item pools more broadly
i'm not even talking about the bald man's play i'm meaning the game as a whole
The mystery shoulder pain happened to me too. It happened while I was sleeping. I woke up one day and for some reason my shoulder and wrist were jacked and I still have the shoulder pain because I haven't given it enough rest. This was like.. 5 months ago.

It's true.
Even though being in mid 30's your body does start to get weird problems, you are still in the prime of your life. You are still fit and strong and at the same time you have accumulated enough wisdom to not be young and dumb.
TBH, I'm the fittest and strongest I have been since I turned 20. I had some really bad injuries that basically ruined the years of my youth.
Enough time has passed and I have worked hard at rehabilitating myself. Im now running and cycling regularly and it feels so good that I can mostly do the things that I should have been doing in my 20's.
Once I get to being able to run 5km in 25 mins, then I'm going to start focusing on strength training.

Man, Ace Ventura is weird because everyone talks about it from this theoretical 'it's problematic' point of view but I'm a trans woman who grew up in the 90's so I have these VISCERAL memories of everyone howling at laughter at the final scene and me sitting there just steadily feeling worse and worse about myself for reasons I couldn't quite put my finger on at the time. NL is right, there's still a lot that's funny about it, and it's not like I think it needs to be made a fucken crime to mention it or whatever, but boy do I not enjoy thinking about it and kinda low key wish it was just erased from public consciousness.
iuno, just kinda weird that so much of 'problematic' discourse is almost like a thought experiment but that's one that deeply personally affected me and it really sucks.
