- Slay the Spire on Steam: store.steampow...
This is fresh CZcams content, hot off the presses! Not one of those stinky stream VODs!
I brought back Slay the Spire to the stream this week for a little shot of nostalgia. Looks like I haven't lost a step...but I'm not sure I gained one either. Check it out!
There were 3 torches at the whale and they were not extinguished. I don’t know if I can keep watching all these misplays.
How does it help? Does it increase luck?
@@kmuralikrishna1998 I'm not superstitious but I am a little stitious
@@kmuralikrishna1998 it actually unlocks sonic as a playable character if you beat the heart with all three torches snuffed
@@Parpeing Yep, it actually happened to my buddy Eric

NL, man, you could pull a few punches with the Magic School Bus talk. It doesn't have to be all of the punches, but help me out here, I'm not ready for that kind of heavy at lunch time.
Love you egg, Keep trying man, you will get there! Play slower man, we enjoy watching take your time a bit more and avoid that small chip damage
Yes! Slower hits the spot! He has it in him to play great, he just needs to slow down a bit, we've seen him do it. He rarely does good if he tries to go fast.
NL, although "Brilliance is just a good attack but we don't have any Matra synergies" doesn't mean you can't take the good attack now and add mantra synergies later.
Issues is with his train of thought there. He acts like if he takes any Mantra it obligates him to play a Divinity deck, which doesn't work with how he builds his deck. Shame how he even mentioned Fasting, which works amazing with Prostrate, but doesn't notice the synergy in all of it.
a crappy attack is not the way to go. Scrawl was the pick. It sets up the wrath turns. Taking brilliance and then a prostrate is just mediocre in comparison to scraw + another common attack and have turns of scrawl flurry wrath flurry follow up attack attack
I just like to see the funny man play
NL had one funny Omniscience run so expect him to be mesmerized by the card and take it over anything that isn't vault for a little while
@@LoRe-nm8gd 100%
I was about to leave a comment on Omniscience + Signature Move being a bad idea, but then NL found out the hard way (well, not SO hard since he didn't have to use the full 4 energy for it)
You ever been told you look like a young Dutch Van Der Linde
Omniscience into a card that exhausts anyway, such as Talk to the Hand, can be very valuable too. Especially ones with effects. Like TttH, foreign influence, etc
signature move + pressure points... He simply does not grasp the idea (hint: it's an attack... that is actually a skill!)
Not the best idea to try to make one of watchers worst cards better by taking another bad card.
@@WaterCat5 they synergize to be slightly less crappy
@@anarchium_wellsquest It only makes signature move "better". Pressure points is actually made worse because you have another card in the deck to draw. Signature move is bad, but pressure points is probably the worst watcher card in the game. Just because things synergize does not mean that it's a viable strategy to pick them.
NL, hearing about Switch runs isn't annoying at all.
AGREEED
Yup! I like it that he's experimenting on his own, learning and discovering new stuff.
poggin up for more STS! Really enjoying this being around again NL
the fact that he skips wallop at every turn hurts me. it's one of the best cards in the game.
dont sleep on the halt, 14 block for 0 in wrath is sucha a game changer!
Kinda hoping NL keeps losing. Because once he beats a20, the nurturing freshwater stream of STS vids might dry up.
Watching 23:04 after 17:10 gave me so much dopamine. NL's STS videos are by far the best part of my day.
You always scry out the flurry because it’s not worth the draw and it’s always coming back anyway
31:50 poor egg forgets he has an attack in hand
He didn't forget he just thought omniscience over rided that effect.
You were correct about Foresight btw.
Different sources of scry can work well together, but two copies of Foresight just combine into a bigger scry (that will often overscry.)
The deck really need one more ways to enter wrath. Upgraded strikes are fine attack, we don't need attack as much as we need more ways to enter wrath.
A Simmering Fury was offered early act 2, but NL took inner peace over it, which is also a fine pick up, but that's the third calm card with only eruption into wrath at that moment.
Yeah, just a little more thought into what the deck needs so he can correct himself if he's wrong instead of "pick good card" but he is definitely doing really well even if he's a little stuck at the moment
06:58
"...that's all we've got. I said remember that"
i appreciate the sublime reference egg
Will he ever know of the beauty a mantra build? Dealing 300+ damage with a single brilliance
Pressure points synergies very well with signature move.
hey NL, its though but you can do it.
Next time, try some relicswaps, they are very strong as the watcher because she already has a bad energy relic, and most of the boss relics are better energy relics
the egg reigns supreme
Seeing how much time Egg has left on the collector fight makes my pogs wither and die
Discarding more via Scry might have saved you in that fight. That omniscience was a dead draw almost every time, so skipping it might have helped. Good run though!
NL´s Switch runs remind me of *"The Fable of the Mole Boy"*
For those of you unfamiliar with it here it is:
Once upon a time on a school somewhere in the world a group of small children were arguing as they do.
Each of them was telling the other about cool things they could do.
One showed the others he could do a cartwheel.
Another showed how she could spit farthest than anyone.
And so on.
By the end the last of them said "Well I could dig a hole with my bare hands and get to China in minutes. That´s why they call me Mole Boy"
The others, obviously not believing him asked "Ok. Show us then"
"Nah. I don´t really feel like it today".
*The End*
A nice fable with a beautiful lesson. :´)
NL does everything in his power to say the wrong name for the stances.
First fight, turn 2, says it's a bad turn for eruption and you just gotta do the math.... while he has lethal.... lol
needed. that. thru. violence
Pressure Points works really well with Signature Move because it's not technically an attack. Not to mention having 3 or 4 of them in your deck is just disgusting to begin with.
The way I understand confusion from snecko is, whenever you DRAW a card, its cost is randomized, so for example the metamorphosis cards you got initially cost 0 (while in your draw pile) but the moment you draw them their cost gets randomized, even if you can see them with the scy
Hope it helps (and correct hehe)
27:15 is such a good line
That damn second floor man, every damn time :(
I think I figured out who stole all your attacks
I feel personally attacked by that little passage of time comment, Magic School Bus was forever ago man damn.
Love these vids man
It brings a smile to my face whenever I get this notification!
Use this as an “I want two episodes of spire a day” button
Literally the first encounter, you took 2 damage avoiding wrath when going into wrath would guarantee you the lethal on both enemies.
oh noooooooooooooo two damage?????? oh NOOOO
It's so great hearing about these amazing runs you've been having on the switch we can't see
Time for a mantra run my dude
Let's goo babyyy, I'm a believer
IT WAS ME AUSTIN!
Just a little algorithm booster

Hey NL, try to not take unupgraded commons after the deck starts going. A lot of these cards have quite low numbers akin to strikes and defends but just have extra effects that may not help you instantly like scry. This is mostly for blocks tbh but some common attacks like concecrate, crush joints and sash whip are also quite weak unupgraded takes. Of course you can upgrade them possibly later but you will usually have better cards to upgrade.
Also wave of the hand is an amazing card if you have easy access to block gain like some relics and talk to the hand. You can even omniscience it to perma weak all enemies from just 2 blocks if upgraded. Don't sleep on it. It can also clear artifact charges for talk to the hand to hit.
You use potions so easily
Hey, NL. If possible, can you say the relics effect when you take it? Sometimes you pass through it so fast I can't even find it pausing the video ): (and I suck at StS to know them all)
1:12 my guy.
I love ascension, aside from A20. Unless you are a really good StS player, it seems like an A20 win is all about getting lucky with the perfect deck.
Well if you don't make it to the final boss it isn't different than a19 :)
Nah, A20 -19 -18 is more about building your deck around the next big theats instead of what you would like your deck to be ideally.
I don't mean to be an ass and say you're wrong for feeling that way, but I hard disagree. I am by far from the best StS player, who's continuously learning. My win rate on A20 has gone from 1 and 10 runs to about 1 and 5 runs after watching good players, reading up the the subreddit, and just playing. And none of those decks that I win with are by any means "perfect."
@@wordtomyflag It seems possible to me that your argument and the statement you’re responding to are both two ways of saying the same thing, despite being presented as diametrically opposed viewpoints.
@@LikeACosmicGumbo I guess I don't see the resemblance. I just wanted to push back on the idea that you have to be really good or get the perfect deck to be consistent on A20. I think that idea is spread around frequently, much to the harm of game and newer players.
Balded boomer climbs a spire with purple lady
Wait he's purple?
Please stop using Protect when you have enough non-retain defensive cards in hand. It not only means you don't keep Protect, you also often lose secondary effects (scry, Insight, etc).
Why is NL not getting the prompts to get the shards to fight the heart?
Because he is on a "new" save, so he hasn't gotten a win with three characters yet.
@@mawillix2018 is he playing without all the relics from the other characters unlocked?
@@piedpiper6425 He got some unlocks from playing Daily, there might still be stuff he doesn't have, I never bothered the check through all the footage (+ there's some daily runs that didn't make it to youtube)
You only lost cuz you didn't extinguish the torches in the beginning tbh lol
Day 32 of working out to slay the spire
Please consider divinity sometimes NL 🙂
Stop back seating the man after the run is over you goons
Protect is a terrible card... It pretty much only works if you have Establishment. And it even confuses NL, since he keept playing protects (12 block), instead of 2 upgraded defends (16 block).
There's merit to it, guaranteeing you have block on turns like hyper beam and execute is worth something
Protect is an awesome early card, the retain is very important.
@@DumpstaBoots There is, but it's not good. In Act 1 it's too expensive for how much defense it gives to you, and since your decks are mostly thin, you're almost guaranteed to draw some defends, and pretty much any 2 block cards will beat it. Other than Swivel, I believe every block card beats it when it comes to 2 energy defense. By the time you reach Act 2 you're supposed to have better blocks, since again, it gives very little for the energy. Perseverance is a MUCH better choice for retain defense.
It can work great with Establishment, but without it, early on, it's pretty much a trap that hinders you. And again, as NL has shown, it can confuse, making him believe it's better that 2 upgraded defends, and bleeding out his HP.
Bad take, while it is weaker than most block cards as others pointed out you do get to use it at the best time possible but on top of that it's a common card. Of course deceive reality and perseverance is better but they are uncommon. And other block cards being equal or slightly better if you use two is also not correct since you are using up two draws for them and they are not retained so you may get a draw where you only draw half the block and retain just lowers the amount of cards you have to go through to reshuffle.
The biggest problem comes down to watcher's unupgraded block cards are all ASS. Seriously 90% of them are like 6 block barely better than a basic defend with added effect but then you upgrade them and they are actually usable to block with? Protect+ 16 block is massive, Evaluate+ 10 block with better card draw than sanctity, Halt+ gigachad 14 block 0 mana if wrath over 9 etc. You should not take unupgraded commons especially for block after like 22 cards unless you really need it to make the deck work. Obviously this is just talking about traditional block cards and not wave of the hand, talk to the hand etc that block without block.
I still remember how upset I was when they switched our curriculum from magic school bus to wishbone.
We went from learning about the world and our bodies to watching a dog run around in stupid costumes because "ArTs aRe jUsT As ImPoRtAnT aS ScIeNcE".
NL all the prostrates you pass up literally give me cancer 😭🤦🏾♂️ We’ve seen you stance change and scry the whole series 😭
I love divinity stance but prostrate is straight ass, its real bad. Worships and devotion is where it's at.
@@wisteriaviolet5697 prostrate is great supplemental card if you get runic pyramid otherwise need good dex to make it work.
Prostrate cancer hits all card players!
