This is a great example of a quality knowledgeable Tech who truly understands the fundamentals of the particular system hes Diagnosing/Repairing. Time and Time again i see situations like this...majority would just sell the Valve Job or Cylinder Head and be done with it. ( which is also acceptable or even preferable for some)(customer pays a High amount of money but gets all brand new parts and the assurance that come with it etc. ) A Real tech will evaluate the problem further until finding a Root cause- eliminating that as well.( preventing repeat repairs or re-occurring concerns etc.) A Real tech will recommend the least invasive method possible( to prevent related damage and additional expenses) ( to preserve Wear and Tear the powertrain and drive-line etc. ) A Real Tech will do stuff like this ^ ( profiting little to no money- WHILE providing essentially THE EXACT same service- MINUS the headaches that usually accompany a 3000.00 repair)
Wow I have the same exact problem on the same exact car, misfire on cylinder 2 and I did all my test minus the compression, took it to the Hyundai dealer and told them what’s going on and all the did was put the scanner and tell me something I already knew and say that I need to change spark plugs and the coil since those are aftermarket mind you the coil are the same one from 2018 never changes them. Took my car back since they wanted to charge me over 1200 to change spark plug and coil plus labor. Today I decided to do a test compresión myself on the cylinder I have a misfire and my compression was very low on 60, there’s a lot of carbon buildup so will do the same hope it fix the problem 🙏🏻.
@@R.N.GPerformanceI did the test today and did saw some progress, compression went to 90 and went back down to a little over 60, I put some more transmission fluid to leave overnight and see what the result will be tomorrow, if I see that goes to 100/120 then I know the problem it’s the carbon buildup from burning the oil
@@brandonpittman5243So I end up taking the car to the dealer and told them what was going on, all the did was to put the OBD scanner and tell me that my coils and spark plug aren’t OEM and that I will have to replace that to fix the problem mind you I’ve never changed the coils since I got the car in 2018. Decided to take the car back to the house and remove the intake manifold to see if there’s anything weird, I notice the side where I’m getting the misfire the 2 valve are wet seems like there’s grease leaking, I showed the car to a neighbor that knows about cars and told me that the valve seals needs to be replaced reason why there’s oil leaking down. I will start taking the engine apart little by little and provide with an update if that was the real problem.
@@yaboymarlon2411 ok great I’m get my daughters towed back here tomorrow and was thinking of buying a bore scope removing the intake and looking to see if the valves are closing or burns etc. I don’t trust the dealer 3 years ago they said it needed a motor and turns out it was the timing chain at sprockets. It’s just dead on cylinder two and I have blow by coming through the oil fill . So that points to a valve issue
My car overheated and stopped, I have oil, no blue smoke but it did take up a lot of my fuel. So now when I try to start it sounds exactly like that, no crank, just smooth. Do I also need to do that to get it fixed?
I have a Chevy Silverado with low compression in cylinder one and I want to try this. So do I take out all the spark plugs or just the one with low compression?

When I do this do I need to open all the spark plugs or just the one that is having low compression?
so to be clear i understand what ypu did, ypu removed the spark plug and put the atf into the hole without the spark plug?

All four of my cylinders on my 2015 Elantra with 117k on it are under 80 psi. Do you think this same trick would work?
