  • I was interested to see for myself why Auto Express awarded the Zoe the Affordable Electric Vehicle of the Year 2020.
    So I thought I would have a look for myself.
    But also a huge thanks to Renault Exeter for the loan if the car for this review.

    You don't need Neutral to park the ZE50. You just stop the car and switch it off. Parking brake automatically engages and you get out. If you're just sitting there for a mo, just press the brake until "Hold" comes on and sit there.

      Better than the same price of similar car ie 208! And get better range than e 208 and corsa e by good way !we paid less than 28 k£ for a top spec car with rapid charging and the purple paint and no battery lease ! so you don’t pay the rrp !

    Currently pleased with our Zoe, but thinking of swapping it for an E C 4 for the extra comfort, charging speed and space. How do think it compares, worth an extra £80 pcm?

      You will be lucky to find id3 new for £25 k but don’t forget id3 doesn’t come with alloys or heat pump that £2 k extra also you will get a lot further in range in the Zoe than id3 and e208 and e corsa and Zoe don’t have the pain in the bum buttons of the id3 ! The Zoe has nice good buttons and real heating controls not on touch screen!

    £33,000 less £3000 government grant - how is that the “most affordable”. Renault must be making a hummungously obsecene profit on the Zoe. Batteries cost a fraction of what they were 5 years ago, but this car has doubled in price over that time.

      @@nickieredshaw7835Ian Sampson has done a series of you tube videos on the Zoe. He bought his battery owned brand new car in 2017 for £16,000 admittedly it is a 40kWh not 50kwh. It could also rapid charge at 43kw.The question I have to ask is why has it gone up (to £28,500 in your case) since then when the price of batteries has halved in the same period? No one has so far managed to justify this.

    If it's called Zoe it's not meant to be aggressive, it's tiny so for the size it's bloody expensive and over priced. Doesn't drive as well as rivals and doesn't have much kit for a car in this price range but well done it can drive 180 miles before stopping but if you want to charge quickly you will need to pay £1,000 to have it unlocked by a computer program. Really not impressed at all and not buying into electric until manufacturers stop taking the piss.

      Charge Electric I don't have a problem with the idea of electric vehicles but 30k for a ZOE or Vauxhall corsa, come on.

    • @chargeelectric9905
      @chargeelectric9905  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I totally understand. But with EV’s becoming ever more popular, production costs will hopefully come down as these cars become mass produced rather than just tricking off the production line.
      I get it that a mid range EV like the Ioniq costs Civic Type R money to buy.

      @@simonnelson7770 would point out that the equivalent spec Clio - power, tech, interior etc. - as even a base Zoe would be in the ballpark of £23k. A Zoe gets an absolute shedload of stuff as standard for not quite as much as you might think vs. an alternative.

    • @simonnelson7770
      @simonnelson7770 Před 3 lety +1

      Tim Austin I bought a top of the range Dacia Duster brand new for 16k, nearly 1/2 as much. I'm no expert but I probably can't run a Zoe in my lifetime and make up for the additional cost. When you then consider it's a tiny car, range anxiety, etc etc. I have to say that electric cars have to change to our requirements and not the other way around. What we see today will be so outdated in 5-10 years so until technology matches my requirements I'm not spending 30k on a bloody Renault Zoe 👎

    When Tesla’s Golf sized model appears later this year, at under 25k this is not going to look like such a cheap car. And it’s a Renault, never knowing bought with your own money😁
