I’ve put in a tropical island in center of yard with banana plants, elephant ear, bird of paradise, dion, 3 types philodendron, and potted cannas. I added a rock fountain and a toucan. Now I can sit on my deck with my dog and looking to right I see the waterfall on my pool and looking to my left my bubbling rock fountain in my tropical island. Total serenity for this 75 yr old widow. I do love watching you and your fur babies by the pool. Thanks.💗

Hi Jeff! Everything you planted already looks happier. ;-) Mr. Freckles looks a little sad. I'm glad he got a repot. I've always loved seeing him in his full glory, and can't wait to see him that way again. It was very interesting seeing the different combos of soil for the different plant needs. 😆 when the pot fell out of the bag, I'm thinking "that's me". I forever stick a pot in a bag as a scoop instead of having an actual scoop. I am mostly not using potting soil anymore, though. Almost everything is getting potted in coconut husk chips, depending on the plant I might mix some potting soil in with the CHC to increase moisture retention.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses my gorilla cart mainly as a repotting station!😂

I finally got the 60 plus perennials planted that I picked up at Walters Gardens on Saturday. 🥵 silly me mixed them all together and because they were mostly bare root plants I couldn’t distinguish one from another 🧐 so I put them in random spots and if they live I can always move them when they start to show me what exactly they are. If I go next year I’m going with a wagon and putting everything in separate bags and labeling them. 😂💐💚🙃
Not everyone speaks plants....You speaka my language...love the update...Its a rainy day here, again, in P.N.W. Oregon, we have been having days of grey, shower, blue hole, sun, white clouds evaporiating into darker grey = rain cycle...comfortable temps not too hot with a cooler breeze....In other words wet humid with sun....its turning into an absolute jungle...everything put on a foot of growth in the last weeks...we got to see the northern lights and I swear what ever gasses are in that.....google it...fertilized every green plant here....now add water and perfect temps....OMG.
Ive got a parlor palm that is such a deva...it likes what it likes....not too wet....not dry out but almost go drier....I water it a little from the bottom, a light drink from top... top only when dry...had it now at least 10 years...but almost lost it a couple times....too wet....bugs...its like family. Thanks for your potting video good to see the regulars come out of garage for❤ summer....good to see ol freckles again so beautiful ever year.
I just watched episode 4 of the Chelsea Flower Show (RA Javier on youtube) and the had a guy on who specializes in weaving those willow topiaries. It looks pretty easy to do. Now I want willows😂😂😂

I have to go pick up 60 bags of mulch from Lowe’s it’s on sale again 👏🏻 I hope they load it for me . I will also have to put my blinders on so I don’t come home with anymore plants 😎 unless I see something out of the corner of my eye. 😂💐💚🙃
For awkward shape pots - to be safe is to use a liner pot, then removing rootball would not be an issue.
My banana plant that’s coming out of hibernation in the ground is throwing up really pale green leaves, I don’t remember that being normal ? One of the hardy bananas didn’t make it but the one that is coming back has at least four pups. 🙂💐💚🙃
Those are the annual cicadas. Different than the 13 and 17 year ones.
Ive had my hands full with the amount of repotting i need to get done myself....its a huge pain in the ass lol, like your plants, mine are monsters also....my pots start at 20 gal all the way up to 50 gal...had to buy another hot house because my plants are huge....my orange bird of paradise as an example is 5 1/2 foot tall and 6ft wide...back in january i bought a specialty pineapple thats patented, because of this fact they rip the center of the rosette out so it can't be propagated but i tried it anyway....i just stuck it in the pot of one of my flowering trop. Trees, that was almost 6 months ago....when i was top dressing my potted trees i came across that pineapple top and to my surprise it actually produced a pup!!! Took 6 months to do it but i did it, how cool is that?!?

I’m so confused . I thought alocasias and colocasias liked water ? And taro plants basically lived in water ? 💐💚🙃
So I planted a banana in early April, (it was unseasonably warm the whole month). It hasn’t grown much at all, it’s in a partially shady spot but its leaves are rotting and the stem is falling limp, should I move it or replace it and start over? Your bananas look great, mine is about the same size. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I already have to replace my dates, because I separated the clump and don’t want to wait 2 years for already infested plants to look somewhat healthy again but that’s another Challenge, please help. I know $15 for a replacement isn’t much but on my monthly salary it takes a toll.

Hey there, Nikki! Sounds like it would appreciate more sunlight. It's also possible it's just throwing a fit, they do that sometimes when they're planted and the roots either get damaged, or the growth point at the soil gets loosened from the root ball. You could try cutting it back to nice and firm growth and then gently transplanting it to a sunnier spot.
