It’s amazing how the pheromone will stick with even a dead queen for days.
Kind of like the smell of your dirty laundry in the back of your truck. God's peace brother.

@@JeffHorchoff lol
@@JeffHorchoff what a beautiful little beehive!
If you happen to have one ore more recently deceased queens, stick them in a little bottle filled with alcohol. It'll make a great bee attractant.
@@JeffHorchoff ooh harsh!
Always enjoy the march of the bees. Good a job!
I have less bee deaths using my vac since going to a smooth internal hose. The standard ribbed vacuum hoses cause to many injuries.
Bee deaths in a bee-vac are much more likely to be due to using suction which is too strong. When you use a bee-vac with adjustable suction power, and when you use only gentle suction, the bees have much greater likelihood of being collected safely. The ribbed suction hose is not a problem under gentle suction conditions.
@@wilfredkube8570 I have to disagree. I do daily bee removals. Since changing to smooth ID hoses, I have a very low death rate. I can vac at almost full pressure and have less deaths then low pressure with ribbed hose. No one can tell me otherwise sorry.
I agree, it does make a difference. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
The brood pattern in the cut out hive looks just like the book illustrations! Be sure to let us know if the inspection next week either finds the queen or new eggs so we know she made it!
I did find her, and she was laying up a storm already. This hive is going to do great. Thanks for watching. God's peace Karla.

Did you take any pictures? 😁
Awesome stuff, going to try this out and see if it works with our bees, Fingers crossed 😅
It will if the swarm is queen less. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I hope you convince Charlie to attend Hive Life next January. Great video as always.
He AND Ralph will bee attending. Looking forward to seeing you there as well Phillip. God's peace brother.

The confidence and trust to grab so many bees while your face is unprotected, while thousands of bees are flying about. so in tune with even (semi) wild honeybees...! Incredible! goodness 🙏🏿
I still will get stung, but to me it's worth the price to be around these incredible creatures. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Another great video, It has warmed up to 60 today at my place in Alaska
Hey Richard, happy to hear you are getting warmer weather. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
We’re at day nine of sunny days here in Alaska since June. Looks like we might get some honey after all. But Jeff, I still enjoy the summers here better than Covington
The way they make there hives it's like art pieces, everyone different.
Thank you, Mr. Ed and Good Time Charlie. 🌟🌟😊😊👏Special people. Interesting to watch the bees migrating to the hive. Combining the bees. Then, locating the dead queen. 🙂

Hello Mr. Ed and Charlie! :) is that bee vac still your favorite these days? I'm thinking of buying one, but wanted to check in first before I think my wallet down... GREAT presentation as always! Happy Friday, and thank you as always for your wonderful enthusiasm and cut-out sharing! :) 07:50 Guardian Bee Apparel... protecting keepers everywhere :) You're going to have fun in Texas! They made a great choice for a keynote speaker!
Good morning to you Professor Fred! I have to say, the Everything Bee Vac is a wonderful tool, and it goes with me on every removal. However, I prefer my Robo style vac as my main, go to vac for removals due to it's ability to flush out the hose when clogged with bees. Would I recommend the Everything Bee Vac, yes indeed. Hands down, it is the best tool to remove swarms, and when working off a ladder, just strap it to the ladder and you don't need a long hose anymore. Tony has gotten rid of a lot of issues from earlier models of the vac, and I know he is still working on getting the plug for recharging located differently. I am sure you will bee very pleased once you use it for yourself. Always honored when you watch and leave a comment, thank you very much for that. Tell Annette hello for me. God's peace brother.

How did they do? Love watching this new community grow 🐝

Good combine. Lots of bees. Thanks for the video. Take care and God bless.
I'm amazed that so many bees can fit in one little box like that :)
I have to admit, they were a bit crowded, and I have added another box to give them extra room. However, initially, it is a good idea to put them all in a single box, then let them spread out. Thanks for watching. God's peace Brother.

Thank You Jesus!!! Thanks guys.
Absolutely fascinating to watch them crawl towards and into the hive box. Without the queen in there, what draws them? Is it the scent of their brood, the honey/nectar? Fascinating.
Initially, it is their own comb that draws them. But, since the queen was in there that solidifies the whole thing. Thanks for watching. God's peace Paul.

Man Mr Ed , what a great video !!! Thanks so much for taking the time to show us how it’s done … I’ve learned since I began bee wrangling that there are so many challenges to getting the bees to stay when you bring them home … I’ve got a cut out to do Monday at a church that was built during the 1800s in Louisville Alabama …according to the pastor they swarmed in about 3 months or so ago .. I went into the crawl space above the sanctuary today and I think I’ve found where they are ..I’ll take pictures and video some of the extraction and send it to you … thanks again for the helpful video !!!!..Lynn ..!!
I'd love to see the pictures. Please send them to me at oscelata@gmail.com, I know you will wrangle those bees but good. God's peace Lynn.

There’s a lot of bees
It just amazes me how you can operate with little or no PPE. You are a bee whisper.
QUESTION: Jeff did you put the chicken wire in the bee vac or did it come that way?
It comes that way, and it works very well separating the bees while they are in the bee vac. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Great informative video! I was wondering if the swarm bees were queen less wouldn’t they still have a different smell of their old hive to merge with another without fighting? Thanks for sharing with us. Have a great weekend !
Because the survival mode is so strong, once bees know they have lost their own queen, they will readily accept ANY new queen. Thanks for watching. God's peace Mary Jane.
Mr. Ed

Lovely video, as always. Can you explain why there is some kind of wire in the vacuum canister? Is it there to slow the bees down when entering the canister?
The wire mesh provides a scaffold, or framework, for the bees to hold onto. This is much safer for them than having to be clomped together as they are sucked into the bee-vac bucket.
The bees hang on it and it keeps the bees from bunching together in one big ball thus dissipating the heat that builds as more and more bees are vacuumed. Thanks for watching. God's peace Paul.

@@JeffHorchoff all good mate cheers from AUSTRALIA. LOVE YA WORK.
If ya see another tiger can you please do a close up of any dark bees cheers again. Tiger stripe queen would love to have a good look. Wells years did a book here about a black bees here in Australia they were never found this was back in the 50ies . Each swarm I catch is in very hard country here. No luck yet.
I'm confused. Did you place two queens into the same colony?
Watch the video, the first swarm was queenless.
No, one was dead already, and I left here in there to let the bees from the swarm know they needed a new queen. With the need for a new queen established, the swarm will readily accept another queen as their own queen. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed, what kind of bee vacuum are you using. I'm thinking of getting one. Thanks in advance for your answer.
Those links I sent should answer all your questions. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed, I watched some of your older videos and you had a box type vac system not this new round yellow vac. With that system the bees were in the box from the get go and no need to dump them out. Is this one just more portable and easier to manoeuvre than the other one?
Yes it is and it is battery powered as well which makes it VERY practical. Thanks for watching. God's peace Kennith.
Mr. Ed
Hey from Australia Mr Ed 👋
What are the hive beetles after? The honey or the wax?
They eat the honey. Then, as the maggots eat through the comb, they defecate causing the "slimming" of honey comb. NASTY! God's peace Kasie.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff what buggers, no wonder you squash them with great force! Lol
Can you show a frame of cutouts after the have been put into a 10 frame hive and have had time to properly attach the comb to the frame so that the ruber bands can be eaten thru
I will try and do that for you, it will be something good to show. Stay tuned. Thanks for asking and for watching. God's peace Dave.

Jeff, do you have state apiary inspectors?
My apiary was inspected this morning.
Registration is mandatory in New York State. What about where live?
I love watching the bees when you speed up the playback!
Yes, we do have state inspectors, and I did get inspected a few years bac, video link below. But no, registration is not mandatory ...yet. Thanks for watching, and until the next one, God's peace David.

Mr. Ed did you vacuum your cutout bees in with your swarm bees? Great video as usual.
Sorry, should have watch rest of video before asking.
Where did you get your bee vac or did you make it? Would a shop vack work? Enjoy the vids & you &Mr Charly
Would a shop-vac work? There is a BIG difference between picking up the bees, and picking them up without injuring or killing them. The main reason for this difference is how strong the suction is, and GENTLE suction is the answer. A shop-vac, or any other (household or industrial) vacuum cleaner is far too strong, and will kill many bees, UNLESS you adjust the vacuum to a gentle suction.
The bee vac is called the Everything Bee Vac and is made by a friend of mine in Lockhart,Texas, Tony Adraic. Because I did not find the queen when I was removing the hive, that is exactly what I did....and there she was! Thanks for watching. God's peace.

It is a great product and works wonderfully due to it's construction and performance. Thanks for watching. God's peace Julianne.
Mr. Ed
Id be concerned that the two colonies might fight or the queenless hive might not accept the queen from the other colony
I know that you know more about it than i do so here is a question
If i had a queenless hive can i take a frame from another hive with eggs larvae and bees and simply stick it in the middle of the queenless hive?
Only I did that last year and the next day there were tons of dead bees out front as though they had a battle….😢
My opinion is that re queening a hive by placing a frame of brood young enough on it into a queen less hive is the BEST way to re queen a queen less hive. By placing the frame of brood in it the bees will make emergency queen cells, and in about 15 days you will have a new queen walking on the comb. Also, before placing the frame into the queen less hive, make sure to knock off all the bees from it. This will prevent any fighting. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Thanks for your reply, so I should have knocked off the bees and only put the frame of brood larvae and eggs in. I did wonder. Im just surprised as you combined two different groups of bees into one hive with no fighting ?
Anyway i probably watch you and Charlie just about every day, you have a lot of videos to go through.
Take care

By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Helena.
Mr. Ed
Do you have a lot of problems with mite's and what do you do if you do ???
We do have mites in our area, but not to the extent that other areas in the world are affected by them. And even though we do have mites, I do not treat the bees to rid them of the mites, I let the bees handle that job themselves and they do a very good job at it.Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Lisa.

Do you sell there wax the ones you have ? If so how much and do you ship ?
Between the monks at Monk Soap and the bees at Abbee Honey, all the wax our bees produce is used. Sorry, there is not any extra to sell. God's peace Lisa.
Mr. Ed
How do the bees decide which bees swarm and which bees stay behind?
I have yet had that reason explained to me so I can not say. When I do find out that answer, and I have asked it many times over the years, I will relay the answer. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

@@JeffHorchoff Hi. I've done some research. I found that there is a Wikipedia article on bee swarming, and I found the following quote within it... "The queen stops laying to be trim enough to fly, and her newly unemployed nurse bees go with her."
This isn't the complete story, because she will also be accompanied by more experienced bees to scout for a new location for the nest. I originally thought that the nurse bees would be needed to look after the brood in the old hive, but I now understand that the Queen ceases laying some days before swarming. Hope this is useful. 😁
Iv spoken to the bee person in mallacoota Victoria Australia about me getting a hive he said spring $300 dollars 1 box Ans 8 bracket in it and the queen should I put a new box on it how hey can have room
Sorry Nola, I do not understand what you are asking me. Try again. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Why not just shake them through a queen excluder under a deep you place on top?
I should have thought of that. I promise I will do it very soon. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching. God's peace William.
Mr. Ed
Why can’t you release the Queen sooner if you see the workers aren’t trying to harm her? Seems like holding her very long would slow her laying cycle.
The queen is caged to discourage the bees from leaving the box., which in the past has happened on several occasions. If the queen is caged, and the bees know it, they will not abandon the queen and clean up the comb to prepare for her to begin laying. Though it delays her for a few days, she quickly makes up the difference. Thanks for watching. God's peace James.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff maybe use a hive entrance Queen excluder and then release her. Wouldn’t that work?
Maybe they were killed by the bees from second hive. They didn’t get accepted after the merge.
I don't remember exactly what happened with this merge, but I do know it all worked out as the hive is still alive. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Monique.
Mr. Ed
What's the difference with your bees that you collect but Killer Bee Guy in Arizona wipes out the bees because they're invasive and are Africanised Killer Bees?
It's all about the aggressiveness of the bees. The bees in our region, at least for now, are very gentle as seen by this video, and the bees in Arizona and out west are VERY aggressive as seen in his videos. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Why not just dump the bees into a second empty box on top and put the lid on? Seems like you might injure the queen dumping them on the floor.
In my opinion, regardless of where they are emptied, they will eventually get into the box, and because I wanted to find and cage the queen, dumping them on the concrete gives me an opportunity to look for the queen as they march into the hive. God's peace Larry.
Mr. Ed
Gee that’s a lot of dead bees…
Though it may appear to be such, compared to the number of the living bees, it is a very insignificant number. And in my opinion, the loss of a small percentage compared to the loss of the entire colony is a price well spent. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
It wouldn’t be Friday without Mr. Ed and his band of merry bee men. Thank you to the whole bee gang, those in the field, and those at the Abbey!!❤️❤️❤️
Unfortunately, I think the dead Queen and all the dead bees on the floor are from the bee colony you picked from the balcony :'( looks like the attempt to bring them together didn't go as well as you thought!
No, that is not the case. The dead queen was from the swarm as I vacuumed her on purpose after finding her in the pile on the ground. And the queen from the removal is live and well as I found her in the hive 2 days later. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
