Fatal Crash on I-405 Fwy in Orange County, CA

(KTLA) - A man is dead after a traffic crash in Irvine, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway, north of Irvine Center Drive, according to the CHP.
The collision involved a single vehicle striking a tree, added Capt. Sean Doran of the Orange County Fire Authority.
The cause of the crash has not yet been released.
A hard closure of the freeway will not be needed, as the vehicle is off the roadway, according to the CHP

The car was 3 cars in front of mine. Traveling on the left most lane and then cut 3 or 4 lanes to the far right. I was to the left just next to it when the car suddenly crossed my lane and I had to instinctively make a sharp left. I am glad that I was able to have my car under control and avoided getting hit. I turned to the right and just saw the car got off the bank to right with trail of dust. It all happened so fast. RIP

Everyone plz put the phones down when driving. I see so many not paying full attention to the road. I was on the 5 fwy night and someone crossed 3 lanes to get to the exit. Went over the concrete swerved. It puts so many others at risk.

I saw this accident yesterday. It had to have just happened, there was a dust cloud in the air above it as I passed it and several cars pulled over who I assume witnessed it.

So the car slid into the tree huh?? I thought for surely it rolled! But you can actually see tire marks on the road and in the grass/dirt. And that was a VERY, VERY hard impact to wrap the car around the tree!! Truly a sad day for this person and their family.
Pay attention on the roads y'all!!! There's quite a bit more traffic out because of the holidays and at ALL hours day and night. The past 3 nights I've been out doing my driving, I've seen ABSOLUTE IDIOTS on the road!! Doin 90-100-110mph in and out of traffic. Pure craziness... 😐
