    I like how Dr. Dray can switch from being like "us," super giddy about cosmetic dermatology that give you a confidence boost but remaining firmly as a Doctor, when speaking in-depth about the product. The human side of holistic medicine is refreshing. Thank you, Dr. Dray.

    I’m not sure if someone else has mentioned this. It’s important to note that this stuff can easily clog up your drains. If you wipe off with disposable cloths, like baby wipes, and then rinse residual in your sink, it’s okay. Otherwise- your sink will get clogged up fast! 👍🏻

    I use this mask almost every day, mixed with hot water. Using very hot water is the key to getting a smooth paste without using ACV. It draws all of the impurities out of the skin. I have papular pustular rosacea and while it seems to exacerbate it when you first use it, it clears my skin completely when I use it every day.

    So I have been reading up a lot on this mask specially on ACV vs water. The reason ACV is recommended is because when mixing with the clay the PH of the mask settles to a 5 which is about the ph of your skin where as the ph with water is 8 which is too alkaline. The ph of ACV is typically 3-4 which can cause chemical burns. The clay and ACV balance each other out. This all being said I’m not a doctor, dermatologist etc but this is what I have gathered from reading a lot of tests people have conducted on this mask specifically.

    • @monkiram
      @monkiram Před rokem +5

      The dermatologists at Doctorly tested this out with pH strips and mixing it with pure apple cider vinegar was too acidic. They determined that you have to mix 1 part ACV to 5 parts water and then combine that with the clay powder in order to reach pH of 5

    • @imawakemymindisalive13
      @imawakemymindisalive13 Před 11 měsíci

      i know water is neutral, but still too alkaline for our skin… i didn’t realize the clay would make it even more alkaline lol. this is a good point, but definitely acv still has to be diluted with water 😅 i don’t have acv or this clay mask but i’m suffering from bad acne rn so im considering anything at this point

    I have very oily skin, especially in the summertime, and decided to give this a try a year ago and I really like it! I don’t use it consistently enough to say that it shrinks pores, but it does noticeably lessen sebum production when my skin is at its worst. Especially for the price, I recommend it. I’ve tried it with just water and with ACV (before I started watching Dr. Dray) and honestly didn’t like smelling the ACV the whole time the mask was drying, plus it made the clay thicker and irritating. I might try it with green tea, though. Also, as someone else said, it can clog drains because it doesn’t disintegrate into nothingness like other masks do when you rinse them off. I have a little mask mixing bowl set I bought on Amazon for $4 that came with a paddle-like spatula and I use it to scrape the clay off and toss it in the trash, then rinse with a cloth. Oh, and it comes off my face SO much easier than other clay masks I’ve tried! No residue left on the washcloth, either.

      Actually the ph of bentonite clay is 8-9, which is far too alkaline for our skin, so mixing with vinegar actually makes the ph more suitable to apply to the face, as our skin is naturally slightly acidic. If you mix with water the ph of the clay will still be alkaline and will mess with the ph of your skin. I found just with water the mask made my face itch and with vinegar it was much more comfortable, even though I have very sensitive skin.

    I don’t understand. isn’t it too harsh on the skin with just water? Due to it being alkaline?? Would it not be better mixed w something more acidic such as honey, acv, etc?

    This is actually the only mask I’ve been able to use with my sensitive skin .. love it.. also my hubby skin clears really well with it.
    I’m skin is usually so sensitive that I’ve only been able to use eye cream as a face lotion. And this mask.
    Other face cleaners dry my skin instantly in many layers.

      My layman's review: No. Just no. A plethora of essential oils and fragrance. I've tried three products from them that I've had to toss or pass on.

      For anyone wondering why Dr Dray wouldn't recommend Lush, Lush's products contain a lot of essential oils also known as ( fragrance ) which she highly recommends avoiding due to the fact fragrance is problematic and serves no purpose or benefit in skincare. 💯

      Matija M you are so right about the strong smell. My husband has severe asthma and cannot go in their stores.

      georgia charalambous oh god no! Lol you can smell that store from outer space! Way too much fragrance! I used to shop there all the time and stopped because their products are like mixey-foodie brunch cocktails and gimmicky

    It is good for dry skin too, you just use more water and never let it dry on your face

  • @mortarandpestletshuajkhibt7791

    I love this clay! It works great as a spot treatment for developing pimples for me. I’d apply a small paste (just with water) to the affected area, let dry and then rinse off. I’ve never had a pimple fully developed from using this method.

    I use this every once in a while and I just add water in my palm then add it to a pimple and go to bed. It works amazing and it lasts forever. I also did a mask for my mother in law for dark spots where I added turmeric to this mask and apple cider viniger but only for dark spots it's not a mask I would do often at all. Tea would work instead of vinegar for a calming mask.
