I think this is very fascinating. Beautiful pieces , love the colors. New to this but was always fascinated by and awestruck at the finished products. We have lots of copper in my area and want to get into finding , shining and selling arena. Thank you for sharing some of your adventures through videos !

Dawn 4x has 4x the amount of surfactants in its ingredients. It is what pulls the grime off of things and why it works so good at degreasing. You can also use it to wet rock hard dry clay / dirt or compacted soil in your yard. Look it up here on youtube - It's great and it's not anti bacterial which would be bad for the environment.

If i dont have a large ultrasonic cleaner can i just put the rock in a bucket of hot water with the dawn and immerse it. Or what do i need to do if not that?

Some sagenite is really porous making it more difficult to shine. It is hard material but bubbles up like your material. Do I use cactus juice or Optacon. thanks.

the bubbles are actually the solvents un the Cactus juice boiling.
as the pressure is reduced the solvents’ boiling point is lowered and it boils until there is no more.
the air in the this rock is minimal.
    take care

Also, what about acetone to clean? How long should you soak in acetone?

    • @thelapidarychannel4770

Acetone isnt a good idea, depending on what type of mineral it very well could ruin it. The best thing to clean minerals is blue dawn, if you have a handheld textile pressure washer, ultrasonic, Alconox works amazing and is safe for all minerals. Take about 1/4 cup and add it to a bucket of hot water, let the specimens soak for 4 weeks, then rinse. Alconox takes time but is amazing. I use the other pressure washer, ultrasonic ect first then let them sit in alconox for a month or two on most specimens depending on how clean they come.

@@thelapidarychannel4770 In a video you did on stabilizing slabs with opticon you use acetone. In this comment you say acetone isn't a good idea. From your first video I cleaned a batch of slabs today in acetone before using this cactus juice method to stabilize. (results pending) Curious the difference on when you think using is appropriate or not? I appreciate your information and feedback.

You should say what Cactus Juice is for new people - Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin is a premium, professional grade, heat cured resin for impregnating wood and other porous materials.
