    Nobody gives this much value in a single video in any block laying videos I've ever seen period, or exclamation as it were!

    Semi-retired mason here.Just discovered this channel from CZcams recommend algorithm.? I joined CZcams in 2008! How Come It Took CZcams So Damn Long?!! I'm pissed but also glad I finally found what looks to be alot of high quality an interesting videos. ..... Ha ha, I just looked and see and see you're the original CZcams mason laying those lightweight 12s to some bluegrass music a few years ago. Very Good, I'm glad yer still at it. .. I like me some bluegrass now.

      Thanks man I appreciatethat, youtube needs to fix their algorithm, it takes me a lot of time to edit these videos, my time vs the .002 cents youtube pays me per view is a jaw dropper lol I originally thought more people would be more interested in masonry, but now I'm convinced the algorithm is messed up.

      @@SolidworksUnlimited CZcams algorithm was much better before google got a hold of it. Google has made CZcams barely tolerable (like television).. I hope you continue with making quality videos along with your quality masonry work..👍

    This is a great video series, a lot of good info here. I'm looking to build a wall in my yard and I'm wondering how to calculate the depth on my footing. I'm in eastern WA, we don't get a lot of precipitation but it can get below freezing for a few weeks at a time in the winter. I'm building with 4" wide blocks with 8" pilasters and was thinking of 10" footings on top of 3" of compacted gravel. Am I on the right path or should I go bigger?

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  Před 3 lety +1

      Concrete in yards is calculated length x width x depth devided by 27 and that gives you cubic yards. Everything has to be figured in feet, for instance say you want it 10 inches deep you need to convert it to feet by deviding 10 inches by 12, that will give you
      .84 feet length x. 84 x width devided by 27
      As far as frost, I would call the building department in the area and ask what frost depth is and make sure bottom of footing is below that.

    What machine are you digging the footer with? E60 bobcat excavator?

    What slump do you order on the concrete?

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  Před 2 lety

      I usually pour it out at a 6 inch slump and add water at the half way mark

  • @johnbrian118

    How deep are the footers? Where are you building?

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  Před 3 lety

      In this area it seldom freezes more than 3 inches deep so bottom of footing below frost depth is all that's needed.
