  • Haitian Creole is one of Haiti's two official languages alongside French, and is the most widely spoken Creole language in the world. With well over 15 million speakers, including million in the country of Haiti alone, as well as diasporic enclaves of speaker in the South America, the United States, Canada, Africa, and in sum, worldwide, Haitian Creole is quickly becoming an increasingly important language as its continues to spread across across the globe.
    The Panafrican and Indigenous Language Initiative is a student-based group created to meet the demand for language instruction for languages such as Haitian Creole, Sierra Leone's Krio language and Swahili. Founded in 2011, the initiative has already made a significant impact in the lives of students and staff, and seeks to continue moving forward through 2014 and Beyond. I had a Haitian girlfriend of 8 years. Her mother loved me like her own. She loved the fact I took time to learn some basic creole from a few friends, so she was adamant on making my creole fluent. She stopped speaking to me in English and I picked up alot. Most of my friends parents loved that (American sa) could understand. But now we aren't together and i moved away, so I'm not exposed as much. Love what you're doing. I'm sharpening up. Thank

    UhuruSasa85 What is the difference between S ak pase and Sa k ap fet ?
    I like how the background music is being played at a low volume. It is nice and not distracting.
    In your future videos, can you please repeat the Kreyol phrases and words more than once and slower ? (Like how you said Kijan ou rele sa, the 2nd time, was very nice and slow.) Repetition is extremely helpful when learning a language!

      Sak pase - what's up. How are you? (greetings)
      sak pase? - what happened?
      sa k'ap fet - what's up. (greetings)
      sa k'ap fet - what's going on?
      sak pase is used more often as a greeting.
      sa k'ap fet - when this is used to greet a friend, the speaker usually expect you to say a lot more than just saying fine. It's like the person is letting you know, I really have the time and would like to know what you've been up to or how things are with you.
      You'll often hear Haitian speakers say, sa k'ap fet, man - what's going on, man? or sa k'ap fet menm - what's really going on?

      In an kreyòl pa prononse tankou francais in prononse kom ine tankou Nadine=Nadin.
      En an kreyòl prononse kòm in
      Tankou
      Malin=malen.
      Kreyòl Ayisyen pa janm ekri ak doub lèt tankou francais .
      Respekte kreyòl lan chak lang gen gramè payo evite ranplase mo fransè nan plas mo kreyòl yo.
