- You might be surprised to find out that the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Quik-Lok String Trimmer could replace your 2 cycle string trimmer. While I wouldn't recommend it if you need to trim for hours on end, I would recommend it for the average homeowner.

I just whipped through field grass about 14" tall with varying baby oak trees and weeds that had become skinny trees.
Milwaukee m18 weedwacker walked through it like butter.
Thank you for helping to finalize my decision on which trimmer to purchase. When someone buys a second one, like you did, that's a good sign! I needed a powerful trimmer that could trim around my horse pasture fence, and this model worked like a charm. The fence wire was hidden by the weeds! Proud to say I followed along with your video to put my trimmer together, and did not have to ask my husband to help me. He will be surprised to see how nice the yard looks when he gets home!
Very nice!!! If you find yourself overrun with a lot of tall weeds, I’d recommend you look at the hedge trimmer attachment for this. It acts like a mini sickle bar mower. I have one for my Stihl that I use for the ditch. I’ll eventually get the attachment for the Milwaukee so I can use it instead of my Stihl.
@@JaredsShop I had watched your ditch trimming video. It was was eye opening!
Damn that custom shelving in the back for your tools is badass!
Thank you!!!
Ordering this with two 8.0 high output battery’s today, comes with the edging attachment for free. Thanks for the review!
Also they have a brush trimmer attachment for super woody and overly thick areas that I’m looking into once I get to try it out myself
You’ll love it!!
@@JaredsShop It’s been great, the 8.0 has been good for getting my whole lawn without the extra battery but it’s always nice to have
Great video. What a nice organized shop!
Thank you!! It’s not fully organized yet but I’m working on it.
I was thinking another one but now Im ready to move on to this Milwalkee model. thx
You bet! Thanks. I have 2, as well as the pole saw attachment. I still love them.
I love mine so far . Haven't had to put much time on it . I sprayed most of the edges and maybe a little to much and got yelled at for it 😆 so as it grows back ill be using it more often. I'm also going to be purchasing the pole saw . That will come in handy trimming shooting lanes.
I get a little free with the spray and usually get yelled at also.
So far I love the pole saw. So much easier to grab it instead of the 2 cycle. I bet you’ll notice a difference once you get an HO battery. I tried a regular battery the other day and noticed a difference.
@@JaredsShop yes I definitely need to upgrade the battery
I have one. It’ll over heat with out the string guard. Always use a 8.0 battery and it has as much power as my gas trimmer. Also picked up the pole saw and extension for it. Don’t have anything negative on them other than I wish it would work with out the string guard. Spool holds a lot of trimmer line as well
Any idea why it overheats without the guard?
@@JaredsShop what I’ve picked up from online is the added string length affects the electric motor and causes it to over heat. The guard keeps the string short enough to not cause this issue. Take your guard off and run it and you’ll see what I mean.
@@braxtonwiggins6576
That makes sense. I didn’t realize you we’re running the string longer than the normal cut length. I could see it also allowing you to get the string more out of balance and cause issues.
I forgot to mention I have also purchased the pole saw and extension since I recorded the video. I haven’t used the extension yet but the saw impressed me. I used it quite a bit after a recent storm as we had a lot of limbs broken within healthy trees. They didn’t break off and were tangles within the canopy so the easiest way to clear them out was the pole saw. My only complaint with it is that I wish it would sit up on its bottom and not want to roll over. The bar oil tends to leak some.
I got this today! For normal yard work around the house I think it will be worth the money 💰
I’ve since added a second and agree. It has plenty of power and runtime for almost anyone.
Just picked one up today and got the same amount of yard done off a 8.0 and a 6.0 each at full charge as I used to get done with my gas powered Stihl off a tank and a half of gas. Had just as much power, if not a little more in the rabbit mode. Pretty cool tool would recommend.
Awesome to hear. Pretty impressive for a battery tool!!
@@JaredsShop agreed
I have one and it's great. Never did like gas string trimmers. The battery that came with it will do the two acres of property I'm trimming for the most part.
We trim up 5 acres, although there isn’t a lot. I rarely use a single bar on an 8ah or 12ah.
We bought the quick lock system this summer. Awesome tool. I have nothing bad to say about this product. It's light weight, an 8.0 high output battery, or larger, act as a counter weight for the tool length. I've run the weed whacker for 2 hours at a time without issues. Just make sure you use Milwaukee brand batteries and not the knock off brands. They melt with the string trimmer. We live on a small farm and use this system regularly and hard at times. I don't use my gas trimmers anymore.
Also make sure you tighten down the other bolt on the quick lock connector especially when using the pole saw.
That’s great to hear. I’m super happy and impressed with mine also. I have since purchased the pole saw and extension as well.
Thanks for the heads up about the off-brand batteries. So far, I’ve purchased nothing but OEM Milwaukee batteries.
Hi , nici video, can u tell me the full name and model of this trimmer pls ? Ty very much😊
Thanks liked and subbed.
Awesome. Thanks!!
Welp just got the same kit. We’ll see how it goes. I got 8ah battery.
and be carefull not to tuck the powerhead under your arm pit, this will cause overheating/shutdown,otherwise this tool is a beast and the branch saw works awesome!
run all your "big" milwaulkee tools with the 12.0hd batt and you will love em!
I haven’t noticed a difference as long as I’m running an HO. I have four 12.0ah, four 8.0, and eight 6.0. I grab the size that will get me through the job.
Is there a better head to replace the junk ones that come with it?
I haven’t looked into replacing the head on this one yet but would guess that it could be. Most use a standard thread size and pitch. I put an “ugly head” on one of my Stihls and like it.
How long does battery last on Rabbit mode vs Turtle, and how long before it overheat and stops working. Yeah, it's a known issue in some, but just need a bit more confirmation before I invest in it.
just my personal experience, I've never had the tool overheat. I've ran through a full 8ah battery on rabbit without letting my finger off the trigger and haven't had an issue. I've used the trimmer and pole-saw attachment with no issues.
@@justingolden Almost got it, but stuck with gas , I needed the extra power for thick St. Augustine's. Otherwise, I might of picked this up, as i'm already invested in Milwaukee's ecosystem.
Is this the 2825-20st?
Yes it is.
I’d rather not have motor on head as it will plug up and destroy itself ?
I’m so torn between this and the DeWalt FlexVolt one. DeWalt has a better battery and more power.
I have quite a few Milwaukee tools so it made sense for me to go this route. So far it does not disappoint.
This is the 3rd summer for my quick lock, it was AMAZING for 2 & 1/2 summers now it over heats after 5 minutes in my yard I get so irritated
That’s odd and the first time I’ve heard of this. I’ll be on the lookout so thank you.
Can you easily spin the shaft by hand? I’m wondering if it might have some resistance and need a cleaning or lube? Have you removed the head to make sure it is clean underneath? Replaced the gear lube in the end?
It’s too bad you didn’t talk about the loading of the line
Yeah the heads suck.
Tim from Canada there is no reason why this cannot be put together and put in the box as one piece if you were making the boxes at Milwaukee factory there is no reason why you cannot put this together and put it in the box… not everyone has a nice fancy place to work to set things up. It would be nice to have it. You take it out of the box and it is ready to go. For the kind of money people are spending on Milwaukee tools today. All of this should be put together and shipped out as one piece.
Are you more so talking about the handle and string guard?
If u can’t put stuff together just say so
I have a small yard but I'm still not a fan of battery-operated anything. They fail way too quickly. Correction I do have battery operated drills that are just fine. Just not a fan of battery operated lawn mowers trimmers, or blowers..
I’ve had this for quite a while now and it’s still going strong. I’ve now moved to using it for 99% of all trimming of the yard. The only thing I don’t use it for is cutting the ditch.
I have also since added a second one for our campground.
Try taking off the guard
For what?
@@JaredsShop longer string the better bc it cuts more and so grass doesn't get stuck on
Hi output batteries are a waste to charge cycle takes too long 2 lower amp batteries are better on charges while your using one.
Depends on what tools you’re using. I have found quite the opposite. The HO batteries provide much more power when needed and the tool doesn’t bog down. Even things like my nailers will sink something with a 3ah HO that it won’t do with a 5ah XC. I’ll go to my HO batteries every time.
