  • It's been a few months since we first saw this Milwaukee M18 FUEL Dual Battery String Trimmer at the Milwaukee Pipeline 2023 event. Actually getting your hands on this beast and using it in the thick stuff will convince you of the power it produces. By swapping the string cutting blade 180 degrees, you can change the cutting swath from 15" to 17". Low and High Speeds deliver up to 4,900 and 6,200 RPM. You also get a variable speed trigger. #review #milwaukeetool #tools

    Missed opportunity for using the quik-lok system, maybe too much power for the attachments ?
    I dunno, but if you are already paying a lot for the tool, making it more versatile would be a selling point.

    I always read comment on people commenting ego its the best , well probably ,but for me i am a carpenter and i bring my m18 tool on the jobsite , i don't see myself bringing ego stuff at work this is why althought the milwaukee is not the best ,for me a brand like milwaukee dewalt makita makes sens not ego , the same battery platform i use to cut wood and drill screw at work, i use the same battery for taking care of my yard this is nice.

    The weight is everything being a professional landscaper. I can tell you by holding these string tremors all day, gas or battery the weight of it is everything. Even with the two smaller batteries, the 16 pounds comes in on a heavy end. These battery operated trimmers aren’t meant for what you’ve seen in the video here, but that we can do it if you have heavy heavy stuff to do like you’ve seen in this video and a lot of it to do on a monthly weekly basis I would recommend using gas, if you’re using it just to trim sidewalks around trees at houses is perfect.

      I have 4 acres in the mountains most of which is very steep and rocky with 1 acre thats all marshland. I use this same trimmer for all of it and have no regrets. I much prefer it over my gas trimmer. It eats up up everything no problem, battery life is good, and no need for ear pro. It does get heavy after about 30 min though and my wife hates it which makes me like it even more because that means she can't break it. If you run one for a living no I'd not recommend it, but for your own property (if you don't have girly forearms) I highly recommend it!

      The runtime is ok , with .105 line at 17" cutting swath and 2 forge in thick grass i made 8minutes without never releasing the throtle, the grass was 12" and higher , the string trimmer was cool as a concumber and both battery were tepid , i have run the dual battery over 2 hours in a ditche almost non stop this unit will not overheated althought it was hot sunny day outside i am really impress with this tool this is by far the most powerfull tool milwaukee has ever made with their OPE lastly the weed don't jam on the head of the string wich i think its nice.

    Looks like a nice heavy duty trimmer. I'm starting t think Milwaukee should just make a high performance 60v battery that exists between m18 and mx . Using 2 batteries is too troublesome . They need to ma a battery that's gonna specialize in being a single battery that can run a 20" chainsaw. A 24" mower a 900cfm hand held blower etc

    • @cliffordmontana4562

    I have both Milwaukee and DeWalt tools. I have a 60v flex had two others one stolen amd one i gave a friend. But anyway im trying to decide which one. Im bot even sure id want this one the Milwaukee m18 fuel weed eater can cut the sane stuff with good string. The two batteries xost as much if not more than the maxhine its self. The dewalt 60v isnt bad in price unless u get the big amo ones like max 15 im not sure rest. I jave a 5 or amp i believe. And not lying the craftsman rp and even Walmarts Hart arent terrible. Hart is the exact same machine as ryobi. Theres a viseo showing it lol. Y pay more for same thing. But seriously im in country aamd ditch the runs down my backyard grows quick. Also do some other places around my town. Population 155 lol my dads the mayor amd we keep the place looking nice. But so i need the biggest ones or right below. I know i need more than someone in a suburban home but im not xutting abandoned property thats 6ft high. Also i do need one with the ability to change attachments. Makes no sense to buy one that cant

      @aronp713 Před 27 dny

      @@emort6 You can definitely find that price for retail 2024 ,
      I would maybe not buy it as a set. There are tons of people/ places reselling those batteries sealed. There are also tons of retail promotions where you buy one thing and get another, making it cheaper. I, unfortunately, have a lot of Milwaukee tools sealed and never used, even a lawnmower. Those batteries are under warranty so if I ever need to replace them MILWAUKEE is great about that .

  • @james2042
    @james2042 Před 2 měsíci +7

    Milwaukee said they weren't abandoning the m18 platform and instead decided to make everything 36v dual battery. While people are pissed (and rightfully so) about makita 40v, I think dewalt and metabo hpt have the right idea with multivolt lines, and hpt's 36v makes a whole lot more sense as it turns a 2p 18v battery to a 1p 36v battery, keeping battery size down. I think milwaukee could of pulled this off with an m18/m36 line, where all m36 batteries are backwards compatible to m18, allowing the continued use of both m18 tools and m18 chargers for 36v batteries. Forge would of been a great place to start too as a dual voltage 18v/36v pouch cell battery would of meant 3ah 36v battery that's a reasonable size for ope like the new blower and trimmer, and they could of made the mower 36v and only need 1 battery to run, and have a second port for extended runtime. But instead we have to tie the battery to 18v, meaning any gains in power come from increased current, which means more heat and thicker wires needed, as well as beefier motors to handle the current. They're shipping too many new products with dual 8/12ah batteries needed for acceptable run times, as it means there's 0 upgrade path beyond the giant 12ah, or the 6ah forge, for power increases. Dewalt and metabo hpt just make higher voltage versions and tell the battery to switch

    • @markk3948
      @markk3948 Před 2 měsíci +3

      The 60v flex only has a 3ah battery which doesn't last . I like the dual 18v m18 because I already have tons of batteries and even just the 18v is more powerful than the 60v dewalt and 40v mikita

      2) The watt-hours on the 4Ah Flexvolt are the same as the watt-hours on the 12Ah M18. So again.... no. And they have a 5Ah which is the same Wh as a 15Ah M18.... which doesn't exist.

      @markk3948 Před 2 měsíci +3

      @ToolHombre I've watched tons of videos and all showed the m18 was more powerful. I'm not only talking about the trimmer. 12ah ho runs longer than the 15ah flex volt @60 volts it only gives 5ah so no you are wrong

    • @ToolHombre
      @ToolHombre Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@markk3948 LOL. No, sorry bud. You started out by saying DWT only had a 3Ah. I'm not telling you not to buy Milwaukee as it is a quality product but you don't need to be dishonest or naive to fan for your brand.
      Watt-hours are proportional to the number of cells. 5Ah at 54V is more Watt-hours (and more of the exact same cells) than 12Ah at 18V.
      There is literally no way a 12Ah 18V under the same power can outlast a 15Ah equivalent (number of cells). The reason the M18 lasts longer is because it puts out LESS power and torque. These are physics facts.

    • @markk3948
      @markk3948 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @ToolHombre I'm not being dishonest I didn't know they made a 15ah. I've seen videos on the chainsaws and the m18 was more powerful than the dewalt 60volt the same as other saws.
