  • In this video I show you the refreshed 2024 Hyundai Sonata SEL AWD finished in Portifino Gray with the gray cloth interior. The Sonata SEL is the first Sonata ever to feature AWD as an option. The SEL is now the entry level trim and comes in LESS than the outgoing 2023 model in it's FWD version. It remains powered by the same 2.5L 4 cylinder powertrain and 8 speed automatic transmission. With it's updated styling and technology, the Sonata remains very competitive in the segment especially now offering AWD. Let me know what you think of the Sonata SEL AWD in the comments below!

Genuinely the only review I've been able to find of the AWD version. With how confusing Hyundai's site and wording is with the differences, was helpful to actually see it in action. Ultimately the convenience package upgrades aren't a deal breaker for me, and would much rather have the AWD

Thanks for your great review. In Canada we get AWD with what would be basically the contents of your SEL convenience also adding Heated Steering Wheel, Black Leather dual power heated & cooled seats but the basic instrument cluster no Navi for about $37000 Canadian, about $28000 U.S. (incl freight & dealer doc fee grab of $599) but no 10 year powertrain warranty or free 3 year maintenance. I've got one on order as no cars here yet. Thinking of getting an N-line as it has so much more content instead but worried about double clutch transmission . Canadian N line still has more equipment that U.S model, Home link& auto dim mirror, rear A/C vents, rear heated seats & heads up display, surround & blind view monitors .Neither trim has a spare tire just a tire repair kit & no jack. N-Line is $41000 about $31000 U.S.
Hyundai sure has a weird way of marketing the options for different markets. You don't get rear A/C vents in the N-line & we get cooled leather seats in our preferred/Trend which is about the same as your SEL convenience.
Which would you buy ? Than Canadian N line has all I want but the AWD model is really basic but will not have the chance of DC transmission issues down the road. I am a low mileage driver. My current 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan AWD 3.8 has 32000 miles.I have 2 other cars.

also the N-Line in "real world" get much worse mpg the Korean channel said - BUT they said the N-Line lives up to the look a lot better.

Are you able to change the design on the screen where it shows the MPG? I am not a big fan of how it looks in the video now. i know i am very picky lol

There is very little you can change with the display cluster on the SEL. I have a full tour video coming out on the new Santa Fe which is nearly identical to this Sonata.

What I don't like is NO variable speed wipers.

The Sonata comes standard with variable (intermittent) speed wipers that also have a low/high speed setting.

Don't like back design, signals lights & wheel rims. Buying Camry 2025 evan i have to throw couple thousand $ more. Because it's Toyota all new & Hyundai car insurance is high $ some companies doesn't even take it in Texas.
