- The Sonata is a midsize sedan from Hyundai. On the outside you will find an updated look with a new front fascia, lighting, grill and wheels. On the inside there is a 12.3in infotainment screen and 12.3in digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 paired to and electric motor to produce 192HP & is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Not gonna lie, one of the things I love most about Raiti's Rides reviews is that they're mostly made for those looking to buy a new car and Joe doesn't fail to mention the competition within its category and price bracket. Genius!
Thanks for taking the time to say that!
Thank you Joe and Lori! I very much like the drivetrain of the Sonata. No turbo and no CVT. Just hybrid system for extra power and efficiency, which is in my opinion the way to go if one wants reliability and longevity. The Koreans are killing it.
“The Koreans are killing it.”

K I A = Killed In Action
Nice complete review! No CVT, blind spot monitoring cameras, sleek exterior, nice interior, lots of tech, best warranty on the market. Another win for Hyundai!
I’m so glad that you like this one
11:20 took me out, wasn't expecting that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like to bring the laughs and the cars to you
Ur my favorite person making videos reviewing cars love the creativity and vocabulary 👏
If the K5 had a hybrid system I feel like it would dominate with the Sonata. Kia/Hyundai are killing it.
It would be interesting to see if it did!
No seriously! If the K5 came in hybrid, that would have been what I went with! But it doesn’t unfortunately 😢
They’re killing their engines at 50,000 miles.
Love the Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid & it shows that yes, Hyundai went above & beyond when it comes to elevating the interior & I like the naturally aspirated 4 cylinder & the 6 speed automatic is a dandy.
I am thoroughly impressed with this vehicle! This Hyundai offers so much even a power rear trunk, which is super super rare in his class. Excellent review Joe!! always enjoy your commentary and perspective.🔥
I have a 2020 Sonata Limited which I love. My wife hates that there is no height adjustment for the passenger seat. Hyundai added that for 2021 but it seems they got rid of it again for 2024 so it is out of the running for my next car. Can’t subject my wife to sitting on the floor again and barely seeing out the window.
Limited 2024 has a power passenger seat, parents just bought one
I have read that for 2024, the passenger seat is 4 way power adjustable and the height adjustment has been removed.
@@alanjg1 its on the limited hybrid,….parents just bought a 2024,…passenger seat is all power.
@@brentdavis3126 I was referring to the 2024 Limited Hybrid where I was told the passenger seat was 4 way power adjustable with the height adjustment being removed. The 2023 Limited was listed as 6 way power adjustable. I would love it if I was given wrong information previously on the Sonata forum and you have the correct information on the height adjustment.
@@alanjg14 way? That is terrible
With all due respect. At this point anything is better than the new Accord.
Facts 😅
I own a 2020 2.0t and I agree with comment 😂
Why? What happened? I am out of the loop
Amen to that
@Mx5pro I have the 2021 model, and that 11 gen is 🗑 and sounds like an 👽
I purchased this car last Friday, but in the SEL trim with the convenience pkg. It's really beautiful in person.
Congrats! I am so glad that you are enjoying it!
Better have a box of imodium tucked away in the glove box with all the Taco Bell you’re stuffing in that Sonata
I just purchased the same exact car.... I couldn't be more happier I looked at Toyota I looked at Honda and their interiors are like from 20 years ago... Hyundai has a better warranty this will be my third Hyundai I've had nothing but good luck... Just oil changes and tires....
Great choice no cvt transmission
I had a 2024 Honda accord and they way I have to put gas in almost every 2 days is crazy ever since I switched to Hyundai limited the car features on the Hyundai are beyond amazing they leather seats the comfort in this vehicle are beyond amazing this gas runs good upstairs
Oh wow thanks for sharing that great ownership experience!
Alright Joe let’s see if this Sonata will change the way we think
I remember in the late 80's I took a Sonata out for a test drive for some reason i declined buying one my first car was a Honda Civic Hatchback got it used found out it was in a bad accident so i went and got another used car the Nissan 200SX loved it Then in 1989 after trying out the Sonata I went for a 1989 Dodge Spirit ES V6 Silver Loaded Fog Lights came to near 22 Thousand dollars Loved that car so much but had lots of problems with Breaks and Pads
Then Traded it in 1991 for a Blue Mazda Protege 323 SE Loaded
Sunroof Spoiler . Love it you done those cars . also a 1992 Grand Prix Loaded
Now that Hyundai Sonata has changed so much over the years Love the look of it now. the front reminds me a bit of the Lucid Car also what happened to that car don't see any in my Province of Nova Scotia , Canada
Looking inside of the Sonata when you are sitting behind the wheel all you got to say now is Like Capt Picard is say Engage lol Love the white and grey inside when buying a car like that make sure you don't have kids eating candy or anything
I see more Elantra's around in my city more than the Sonata's all in all I think the Car is Beautiful Great Video
I own last gen version. I love my car. No issues. I personally like how this shifts gears. I'm not into the CVTs offered by competitors. Those things feel like dogs.
Really strange that there’s no Homelink transmitter at this trim level.
Don't change your review format and style. This and the car care nut reviews is all the consumer needs.
This actually looks really good and I'm impressed with it.
Thanks so much for this comprehensive review. Very difficult getting this level of information on brand sponsored sites. I'm in Canada and was looking at a 2025 K5, only to find out the K5 will no longer be available in my country. And you're the first reviewer I've seen to demonstrate the Sonata has the available in dash blind spot cameras available on the K5, I thought I'd have to do without. Thanks so much again.
Looks great! Thanks Joe and Lori!
Are vortex generators really necessary on a 190 hp car ? They always look gimmicky IMO. Nice features and interior. Thanks Joe 🤙🏼
Id sacrifice a few mpg for more horsepower because sheshhh accord is 203, toyota is 232 and even with a CVT ARE WAY FASTER 🤦🏽♂️
I agree on the wheels. If I were to get the limited first thing I would do is get better wheels. If Toyota can put 19 on their hybrid then hyundai could have done better. I'd sacrifice a few mpg for little bigger and better looking wheels.
so between Sonata hybrid and Camry hybrid, which car do you like to drive more?
Yes of course Joe & I'm will buy this beauty.
I knew you would!
Alien suppository key fob hilarious 😂 cool car the wheels are a lil small tho for my taste but has a lot of room for sure 💯
Thanks for letting me share it with you.
I would go Camry for long term transportation. This car looks very sharp though.
Sounds like a good idea
Best looking sedan out there.
Much better than accord
I'm currently looking to get a new car and am torn between this new Sonata and the new Camry. I think I could get a better deal with the Sonata as the new Camry will probably be in high demand. I was looking at the Accord but I don't think they offer as much for the similar price.
I am concerned over Hyundai's reliability with all the coverage of their recalls and break-ins due to social media trends.
In 2018 I bought a 2015 Hyundai Sonata shortly after college as my "new" car and loved it. I gave it to my brother in September 2023, as he needed a car at the time; I worked from home and rarely drove it. Since then he's spent hundreds on repairs that should have start appearing when he hit 100k miles. He only just hit 60k miles recently.
That is a very tough choice
get watever car that has better deal. I am gonna tell you from my experience that Toyota currently does not have reliability as they were before. My parents still driving 2007 Camry and still fine. My 2015 Camry barely last 9 years then engine had tons of problems. I would say nowaday, cars are like design to last around 10 years that even apply to Toyota.
This hybrid system seems to be fairly reliable since they stopped using the DCT. I have 3 hyundai kia vehicles and gave had no issues with any so far. Toyota is reliable but the price difference will be big since Toyota dealers don't have his incentives or deals so it can take a lot of possible repairs to make up that difference
Don’t go Accord. It’s unreliable and if you hate cheap materials, you will regret in getting it. The outgoing Camry is nice enough, and the new one is even nicer. But the Camry is still far from being as nice as the Sonata. As far as the Accord, think of it as a Yugo 😉
@@mbcaiost you have sonata hybrid before?
Nice video Joe 👍🏾
Not sure if I really love the design, but it's certainly good to have options
This is always very true
Joe you did say this Sonata is bigger than the new Camry... I knew it' shrunk!😄
Sonata refresh adds the light bar just like the Kona. honestly think it looks better here on the Sonata.
that is very nice Joe but I would go with the 2025 Legacy TouringXT which is being discontinued by Subaru after 2025 👍
Have a 2015 sonata and I LOVE it and definitely looking to get a newer one!
Don't know if it's better but it is a great option to buy.
can't stand that steering wheel mounted shifter but overall great car 👍
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
We seriously can't do it without you!
Looks very futuristic. I like it!!!
I am so glad that you are digging this one.
As always excellent review. I definitely like this new design for the front end 100% more. The wheels not so much a fan but maybe would be easy to change them.
I am so glad that I can bring it to you Rafael!
I enjoy Raiti's injection of humor throughout his reviews
Watching at 1:37 AM now but I am going to book a Camry 2025 tomorrow morning 😅
As owner of this car, it's more like 35/40 with 100% normal driving!
Unless I'm doing something wrong!
So many variables to that it’s not even funny
Damn that’s what you get on hybrid? I think it depends on where you live, do you heat up your car? Are you a heavy footer?
Looking at that bright color in the sun must be painful.
Great review as always, Joe!
It it hurts for sure but the show must go on
I like this front end much better than the previous. This Robocop look ties in with the new Kona Robocop front end.
You are so spot on
Did that gauge say 513 Miles of range?! 13:27 Hot damn. I can only get a maximum of 300 out opf my 2020 Fusion.
Yes sir
@@RaitisRides Hybrid is really King Joe 🤴 🙌
😂 Hyundai range is often fake
Going Sonata - Aero Silver. Just like the design better and hope the quality last. Has better warranty and free Bluelink for life. Hyundai is trying real hard and making real design impacts. Never owned one as of yet. Stay tuned.
Sounds like a plan for sure!
Bluelink is free for 3 years from purchase date... not lifetime. Hyundai charges per month or annual fee for each service - connected, remote, and guidance.
I would love the Sonata N__line if they offered all the extras that the Limeted has. Heads up diaplay , blind spot cameras and a little more ambient lighting
That’s a helluva nice car for the money imo Joseph
I’m so glad that you think so
❤ Thank you, Joe and Lori!❤️
“On throttle” 🗣️🔊🔊🔊
0-60 forsure
Love my catfish sonata but this one looks great
Not bad joe like always great video’s 🇺🇸🦅👍🏻💯
That means so much!
Don’t forget you can also leave your key home n start the car with your phone
This is true Mikey!
Amazing review Joe.
Wheel size are a no go. Should have made them in a 19. I’m still looking at buying one.
To the door panels!!
You know how we do it!
You have mentioned. You hear more window noise? I think it is because the new toyota carmy has double acoustic glass windows.
Bought a Camry this week, didn't even consider Hyundai.
Got mine was surprised it doest have a standard cruise control . Only the automated that will hit the breaks automatically.
Hybrid Accord is not really a CVT , but they call it that. Guess its the closest they could come to
Kind of weird isn't?
@RaitisRides I dont understand but I have heard more than one mechanic, includong The Car Care nut who is a expert on these cars, explain WHY its not a CVT and why they call it that. All beyond me but I take their word.
So far so good.
I’m glad that you think so
Bring back the Visual Yoohoo's in the compartments!!
You got it!
Short answer, no. Not as good but maybe Hyundai/Kia have sorted out reliability issues, particularly with that delta engine that seems to enjoy destroying itself sometimes.
It doesn’t matter what it will look like in five years. Hyundai/kia seem to refresh and redesign like every two years
👍
Because they're designs are not working so they keep trying. Especially Hyundai
Why can't they have a good old shifter and parking brake?
I guess they are trying to make more too
For the center console
I like the white with the light colored interior.
The new accord looks like old cop cars but even more boring. Still over priced for the amount of features missing especially after they neutered the power train.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
@@RaitisRides good job on the vids
Love your video 📹 ❤️ 💕 ♥️ 💗
Got me all excited, this is a 19” wheel, no 17” 😭😭😭
nice hyundai sonata
I honestly think more companies should at the very least offer the option of an traditional transmission instead of cvt. Especially toyota since they're notorious for offering several different engine options.
I thought the seats had quilted patterns on the corners? I guess it didn't went through. What a shame.
The main difference between Honda and Hyundai is their brand reputation and the features offered in their vehicles. Honda has a reputation for producing safe and reliable cars.
Hyundais are just as safe if not more. They produce their own steel and have iihs top safety pick plus for most models. The reliability however could use some work.
honda is not reliable anymore .honda started to have a lot of issues
Hyundai warranty blows Toyota and Honda out of the water.
Accord is a disappointment and the Camry has improved. Read the comment I left about my Accord.
PAL this car has a 5 Star safety rating... And the best warranty in the business
Anyone looking to get into one of these bad boys come see me at Burlington Hyundai in Burlington NJ!!! Ask for Thea 😊 Joe wont fail you on these reviews take heed!
Right finder well looks out of line when you were reviewing the front wheels
Yeah, those wheels just don’t jive with the sporty look of the rest of the car. I think they’re carryover from previous years.
You are not the first to say that!
That color is sexi
A lot of car for the buck and looks good. I'd like to see a 2.5 L four but I'd still take it over the rest.
I’m glad they got rid of the sluggish CVT. Hyundais have the best interior quality of its class
I love this car! Can’t wait to get it
Lori is the bomb 💣
I know definitely looking at Hyundai’s also seems like Hyundai brand has gotten alot better over the years
GAME boy? Devo?
Definitely an 80s guy.
Heck yeah!
@@RaitisRides That makes 2 of us.
So apparently hybrid Sonata has been shelved for Canada.. that's just lame!
That’s A nice Car
I’m so glad that you think so
I'm not too fond of the front end, nor those wheels. I went back and searched your reviews of Sonatas and the 2021 N-Line is much more attractive.
Is the Sonata hybrid not available in canada? I only see the gasoline and N-line versions on their website
They'd better be. I was looking very strongly at the 2025 Kia K5, only to find out it's not going to be available here in Canada. I can't imagine why Hyundai would exclude the hybrid here.
Beautiful car but I feel like the outside is bigger than the inside lol. All that front hood space, the inside could have been a bit space out especially the back seat.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this ine
Sonata hybrid looks like a wow than N line
Doesn't the hybrid have a 2.0 liter engine?
Not a fan of the front end of this generation. Looks ugly and just too much going on. I do like the LED lighting they do in the rear
I thought the same until I saw this exact color at the grocery store lol
I have the ‘23 Accord Sport Hybrid and I gotta say, the Sonata (old or new) makes my Accord look like a plebeian car. Hyundai uses upscale materials, while Honda has been using cheap, disposable materials throughout the exterior and interior on the entire new vehicle lineup, even on the Prologue. Unlike the previous Accord, the new one is a major disappointment. It’s been to the shop 9 times (so much for reliability). Every time I’m on a rough road or go over a bump, the feeling on the Accord is as if it’s going to fall apart. You can see the dash, center console and all the mirrors move, and you can also hear excessive creaks and rattle everywhere. I don’t think Honda fully finished building my Accord lol. The new Camry looks nice, with more premium materials and more power than the predecessor, but it’s definitely nicer than the Accord. The only premium cars that offer comparable high quality materials to the Sonata are the K5 and Mazda 6.
hyundai sonata hybrid all the way
I'm deciding between this and a Lexus ES 300h.
Still looks like a catfish without the mustache
The front looks cool - almost too aggressive for what it is - it could literally be a lambo. I think it's the wheels that are letting it down - we know they can do it, the first gen Optima (or at least the first gen that mattered, 5-10 years ago) had awesome wheels.
Thanks for sharing your feelings on this one.
Joe I guess Grandeur Vs Accord & Sonata vs Civic
Civic is a compact sedan…
Mazda 6 got discontinued becsuce they couldn’t hang with the competition 😂
Pretty much.
