Sometimes, however, you don't get anything out of a lot of chances, but your opponent gets the maximum from the minimum.
@@kamilkrejcar7959 Lahm and Schweinsteiger were 20 years old then. Not that good yet. And Ballack and Kahn were not enough to compensate for the rest of the team, that was mediocre.

It is also the only team to ever be knocked out by a silver goal rule!
Silver Goal Rule only applied in 2004 and bad luck it fell to Czech vs Greece!
It was that if the teams went to extra time and one teams lost in the very first half of extra time then the second half (15 minutes) of the extra time will not be played and the game will officially be over!
Czech conceeded the goal with zero minutes if not one minute before half time of the extra time!
Greece were lucky that the rule favoured them otherwise the Czech with their spirit of comebacks from the group matches would have pulled it off maybe, to win it all together before penalties or to the penalties!
You are absolutely right about the rule of the silver goal, I will just add that the Czechs are also the only team that (if I'm not mistaken) paid for the rule of the golden goal (1996 final with Germany - but the Germans were a little better there) .

2004 was a disaster, the only good Germany team of 00’s years was 2002
2006, 2008 final.
Ballack over achieved with the squad.
Germany from 1998 to 2004 was the age of disaster. in 2002 they had so much luck, because there were just weak opponents for Germany like Saudi-Arabia, USA or South Korea. Just in the Final they had Brazil and Brazil won it with 2:0.
