if john's ever under the weather they need to have you on speed dial. also can't believe in all the years ive been watching you this is the first time ive seen you play rhcp tunes live, smashed it.
he must be about to feel under the weather
Or under the bridge
Dave is good but Zach Irons is the true John clone
You amaze me. I can't believe how you did that. Never met them, never played with them and not practiced at playing the songs. Also performing this remarkable feat live and before an audience. So impressed.
Truly amazing - just rock up and play with a band you have never met before and sound like you had been there all along. Next call should be from Mr John !
To just rock up and play a long set with a bunch of guys you have never met and sound that amazing….you need to realize how bloody talented you are!
There’s an aura around you when you’re playing. Even amongst other great musicians there’s just a little something more distinct with ur presence and abilities.
Absolutely this. Dave doesn't realise it but he's a very special musician
They were very lucky to have you!
Imagine how much Dave was in his element getting the call for this gig and putting his board together
Tribute band gigs are some of the most fun you can have a musician. I've done Stereophonics and Manics (my favourite band). Nothing like being able to play an entire set of your favourite bands songs, it's about as self indulgent as you can ever get. Great job, Dave, you had a hell of a task at hand and you nailed it 🤘
That looked and sounded like so much fun to play! I sympathize with you over the sound issues. I do not like in-ears, and prefer monitors, however, when I get “those” vibes from the sound guy, I use in-ears so I can, at least, hear myself! I wish I could sound-engineer more gigs. I used to do sound and lighting for a Celtic band back in the 90s. I will always do what is needed to make the Music the star of the show! If an amp needs a mic, it gets a mic! If someone needs more monitor, they get more monitor! No need to shoulder shrug away what can turn a good performance into a great experience! 👍❤️🎸🎶✌️
sounded so good Dave!
Just spot on, classic John vibes combined with classic Dave, loved it
Dave's sister is so beautiful. Glad to see her in another video. I bet Dave really enjoyed getting to go whole-ham on some RHCP music!
Killer job, playing an entire setlist of Chili Peppers songs with a band you've never even played with before is super impressive.
I play in a RHCP tribute band. And trust me, I've learned some things from this gig vlog ❤
You should do more of it! You are made to rock that way its in your DNA brother lol 😆 enjoy it!
Really cool Dave! You look right in your element here
This is sick man! However that guitar should have been much much louder in that mix! You deserve to be heard loud bro ❤
You're incredible Dave...loved everything, especially the intro Jam, and the Scar Tissue Solo.
You killed it 🤘🏻 awesome job
Thank s for the insight into your preparation for this gig ! Great stuff .
Amazing, to rock up with a tribute band - where everyone expects it to sound like the real thing - just bloody amazing.
A spider is crawling up the guitar bag at 11:40 lol
Well done Dave! Sounded really great, this would've been right up your alley! Great John tones!
Good gravy Davey ...super proud of you. I ❤ your guitar playing. After watching many of your videos over the last couple of years I feel like you are the inspiration that keeps me going. Imagine that you were doing what you love to do after battling and pushing through the dark and difficult days...did my heart good to see you on stage with Red Hot Chili Potters like watching a star athlete return to his team after catastrophic injury and scoring his first goal...you were flying high and soaring like an eagle my friend...well done!!!
Your tone was SPOT ON! Great job Sir Dave
Dave your improv just leaves me speechless ❤❤ all love dude
The singer seemed more like mike Patton 😂
This was so really great! Video f awesome!! Dave! Its blows my ears away 🎸👏👏👏💯👌✊
Amazing singer, and you were just FIRE🔥Dave!
Loads of sound guys are decent chaps, but loads are a nightmare too. They have one bloody job to do. Anyway, I did a (very small, very minor) tour in Germany with the band I was in in the '90s and one place we played the sound "crew" gave me no guitar in the monitors at all when the gig started (it was there for the soundcheck). I did the usual (increasingly frantic) pointing at my guitar, pointing to the monitor and motioning "up" to get exactly the response you described. Nothing. One of them lit a joint and sort of stared back at me vacantly. I couldn't even hear if my guitar was still in tune, so I took matters into my own hands: I kicked their mic out of the way and turned my amp up full. It was bliss for about twenty seconds until the sound crew suddenly shook off their apathy and sprang into action, storming the stage, turning my amp back down and replacing the mic. They left me in exactly the position I'd been in before. One of them even waggled a finger at me and shook his head. Good job I'm a peace-loving guy, but that night I very nearly put the "fist" in "pacifist" I can tell you.
Dave…,,next level bruv you absolutely smashed it!
Big set list to remember 👍🍺
Goosebumps while every single song, Dave I haven't been listening you for like a couple of years, but have to admit u have made a huge progress
Hi Dave, i want you to know i get alot of stress and anxiety in my daily life and listening to you talk and play guitar has helped me through alot of struggles. At first i found you when trying to learn how to get a john frusciante tone (found a frusciante tone god in the process). I then when i had an injury, preventing me working for 6 months, i found that your videos have calmed me down. I found playing guitar calmed me down and your videos doubled my motivation to a point of never wanting to put my guitar down. I guess i wanted to let you know that i appreciate you for what you do, and you have become a big part of my life.
Thanks Dave.
Same here.☀︎
Felt = melted! Excellent playing
This made me smile. A few years ago I had a dream that I had become the RHCPs new guitarist. I was up on stage, about to start the first song when I realised I didn't know how to play any of the songs! A feeling of despair crept over me and I woke up. Summed up the huge gap between my aspirations as a guitar player and my very limited ability. Always so enjoyable watching and learning a bit from you and your never ending enthusiasm. Thanks.
That was so good Dave didn't rehearse with them never even met them before and pull it off like that just wow.
This setlist was so much better thn what the Chilis do lately..Thank you guys, that was frenetic❗
🎸🥁🎤 Keep it up dude, YEAAAH THAT'S RIGHT!!!✌🏻&💜
Awesome, I learned a new word today!!! Didn't know what 'dep' and 'depping' meant. That is got to be some honor, not because you get to play with the Tribute band, but that they want you to play with them, as a kind of featured artist. This is awesome!! Congratulations! I have learned so much from your channel!!
great tone, awesome rig,
Amazing performance!! Crowd was asleep!!
This video had everything I want and need from great content. A start, a middle, and an end, with lots of Dave throughout. Stellar guitar playing and lots of electric atmosphere. Oh and the eye candy coming along for the ride helped too. No, John Joe wasn't in this video, my mistake.
WOW. amazing dave. to step on stage with a band u never played with before. I can't imagine. Sounded amazing. Excellent job. But I agree the sound guy needed help.
Great job Dave!! 🎸🎸🤘🤘
Happy Dave, you smashed it out of the park!!!
You did a fantastic job there Dave well done 👍👍👌
you deserve this and every other exciting opportunity heading your way. that was amazing. keep on playing, and inspiring the likes of me.
So god damn freakin’ awesome to hear you play full RHCP songs. A cover band of your own would definitely have some success, and bring you some « easy » gig dates to complete the (already busy probably) Red Giant schedule 🤘Anyway, rock on, you’re awesome.
To turn up and do this is amazing you are a true professional genius.
Very high energy Dave.excellent mate.
Great performance the whole band👏💯
The drums were very clear!
I will say the same as the rest playing with a band you have never met or jammed with you kicked arse. Anth from Australia Dapto N.S.W
Dave you Rock you sounded amazing 🤩 but I felt like the vocals didn’t sound so great it needed to be a little louder! 😎🔥🎸🤘👏
Loved it mate you smashed it, think the singer needed more space on the stage wanted to let rip but he would've ended up on the drum kit haha✌
Gutted to have missed this, I live in Derby so not far away
Nice video Dave. As I've recently embarked on my own RHCP Tribute adventure, after only a few shows, I totally recognize the ongoing struggle with monitoring yourself and others. I have a new found respect for musicians that sound well live while they're dealing with these challenges. That said, I'm very surprised you've barely played RHCP music live. If you ever find yourself in the Netherlands, let me know so we can jam!
Epic playing on the set though! Would love to have been there! ❤
I have to say to step like this takes a lot of skill amazing Dave
06:11 I love how you match the DS2 with your socks!
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day also a fantastic weekend Dave ❤😊
Well done Dave, slotted in well there
Cool man, i can tell you are pumped! Rock on!
This was a fun one to watch😊
Amazing video as always! It would be my dream to be in a Chili Peppers tribute band!
Holy shiiiiit Dave. That stone cold bush solo. Unbelievable 👍
I can totally relate with you Dave about playing at outdoor festival events where so called sound engineers are in charge of the mix. I've had exactly the same experience as you described - loss of sound, no sound, low in the mix, muddy or distorted signal or some other instrument is just blasting out everyone else. Also when you gesture to the sound guy to get more volume and get the thumbs up, only to realise that he has not actually touched the mixing desk lol. My band usually wear in ears for our own gigs, with a digital mixer that has all our levels saved, which is totally different to local festival situations. I am thinking of taking my own amp in future so that I can dial in an on stage bass mix and then wont have to worry about the 'experts' 😂
Bloody great video and playing by the way! Keep it up bud! 🤘👍
Man this is friggin awesome playing Dave, brother you flew so high on stage no wonder you're feeling low recently, you gotta come down sometime bro,but please get back up there again and fly high as you really are a talent to be hold❤❤❤
Loved it, thanks
Honestly I'd love to see you do your own RHCP tribute ... but obviously that'd step on your own toes of Red Giant (in so many ways, time, booking efforts etc). But I could just see you having a blast being out on stage playing the songs for people and not worrying about copyright.
But great video - love the rig run down element as well. We are obviously quite intimately familiar with your gear, but its cool just to see where you are at with something (especially guitar choice)
The same thing with real RHCP, the musicians are very good, and some things not normal with vocals)) The sound director needed to volume the vocals up
I really wish you would have a channel were you just upload covers even though it cant be monitized. Would be so rad to hear this set in full
Oh and the backing vocals were cool also!!
I’ve been playing for years and I agree with u about soundmen some of them haven’t a clue !
Nice! It's always so interesting. Thanks for sharing. You are always so generous!
In the end, the attentive CZcams's algorithm suggested me the video "Is the bass out of tune? Flea has the solution!" 😂
Killed it Dave!
Nice one Dave, great result given all the adversity and in at the deep end! Been there, done that!
A lot of sound guys are next to useless. Good ones can certainly make all the difference. Frustrating as heck when it's not right and you just have to ride it out!
😎
Tip for you here Dave regarding shoulder pain. I used a Fender Strat Plus to gig with for 25 years. Developed pain in my left shoulder when gigging. Tried every strap there was and made no difference. Eventually assembled a light weight Warmoth partscaster that helped a bit but was crap to play compared to my Fender. Easy and obvious fix. Rubbed Voltorol paineze gel into my shoulder before I went to a gig and problem solved forever.
You sound great Dave!
Great news Dave looks like fun and more
freakin awesome !!
Phenomenal!
Awesome big shout to the RHCP tribute band for asking Mr S!🙂
Dont think ive done a gig yet were ive been happy with the sound on stage. I can relate
Yeah , i have been playing pubgigs with a bluesrock coverband for 30-40 years overhere in holland and the sound on stage is almost always a bloody nightmare : )
You fit right in ✅. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵💙
thank you for playing stone cold bush, they really need to play that tune again..
Very impressive Dave, Very
Hello and good evening from Australia.. 👍🇦🇺🏴
Very cool 🤘 Thanks
Amazing
This may seem stupid but I’ve never seen another marshall MG100DFX user. I bought one when they first came out but never used it for gigging because of the snobbery. I eventually retired my JCM200DSL and used the MG exclusively as it sounded just as good but was lighter and easier to maintain and would never fail me.
Dave : “The Outlaw Guitarist” because you’re that great of a guitarist .. only the few can hold that position ..
Brilliant atuff ❤
Love what you do Dave much love from the USA.
No better substitute, Mr. Dave!
Love the stone cold bush riff
Tribute bands can be great if done properly. I’ve joined a Tina Turner tribute band and it’s just so relaxing and fun !!!!!
Bl**dy 'ell mate, that was EPIC !
ooh, hello, interesting guitar spotted at 08:12... has there/will there be a vid? I also...I hate to be a cad and a bounder about it...but I was kind of glad to see the mosfet take the place of the studio vintage in the natty FA cab :D I'm not a solid state vs valves zealot by any means...but...but...but...*whispers* I do just like solid state...more. ANYWAY that band were awesonomic and you totally just BELONGED! 10-years-ago Dave may have dreamt of such opportunities...Dave of today is living that dream!!!
Your band needs to come to Clwb Ifor Bach music venue in Cardiff. Give us Welsh folk a chance. Would be awesome to see you guys.. Myself and many others would pay good money to see you.
