Idk if it was this creator, but a bridgerton essay brought out how each season has a love triangle between two non toxic people- Daphne chose between Simon and the prince, Anthony chose between Kate and Edwina, I believe there’s another minor example im missing😅 but I think the pattern has been established that the “other” option will still be “good” but not what wins at the end of the day.

Colin had the opportunity, and he insistently didn't see Pen as a woman and broke her heart. They were friends for maybe over a decade, and he was still embarrassed by her, and he publicly said things that he knew that would break Pen. I really love Pen and wish the best for her , and I really think Lord Debling is the best for her . She will be seeing a lot of hate from the people of society if she ends up with Colin.
What does any know about Lord Debling? I did want Colin and Penn to get together, but hurt her saying he would never date Penn. In my opinion Colin has to do a lot of making up for what he said about Penn.
One he just didn’t like her that.. which he reserves the right.. besides that one offhand comment he has literally been her friend… it’s a friends to lovers story. You got to go through the friendship to get to the lovers part…

@@anitafields2488 in the book there were no other suitors.. he started to see her differently.. like in the books and the show he saw Penelope as only a friend.. luke the one who plays Colin says he really doesn’t see her as a potential match yet… he was not into Penelope at all…I think the jealousy is fun to work with but Penelope’s change in attitude towards herself is what is going to get his attention… Penelope has low self esteem and what I love from what I seen from season 3 trailer she is about to come into the woman she always was but never could see

even though I am all for Colin I want Lord Debling to be serious competition who is a genuine good guy. I wand Colin to see a healthy relationship with admiration and respect and just for him to imagine the possible future of happiness with Pen and him, only to realise that its not a future with him by Pens side. He should realise how he has become too comfortable in the bubble of friendship and that Pen is ready to leave it behind. It means that he can't just see her whenever he comes home and can't just walk to his neighbors the Faetheringtons right across his family home because there is a possible future where she will share her future in a different place with a different name that is not Bridgerton

A perfect guy, looking to marry, eyes set on one girl and yet it’s the girl who ultimately decides that their heart belongs to another. anyone knows if cressida is going to reveal that she's lady whistledown? i mean, it was such a big part of the book but with her unmarried it doesn't make much sense since, supposedly, she still has money.
it was just so awesome the scene where Pen stood up and said she didn't believe Cressida was Lady W. because she liked Lady W. and colin couldn't let go of her hand the entire time ^_^

I'm actually hoping that Debling becomes the love interest for Eloise after Pen rejects him. I never liked the Crane/Eloise love story. I think Debling might be a better fit. Let Crane and Marina have a happier story and let Eloise be with Debling, a good man ready to marry - not Crane, a man ready to find a mother for his kids >

Irl, Pen should and probably would have gone after Debling. I’ve been in a similar situation as Pen and even if the pull towards your original crush is strong, I would definitely go after a “healthy” guy. Colin is absolutely not the right guy for Pen. But yes, it is canon. The second lead is always the best. The Prince would have been healthier for Daphne, and Anthony’s friend would have been better for Kate. Lust drives a relationship for a year or two, but a comfortable partner lasts a lifetime. You can’t have dessert every day.
The only thing that bothers me, is that he is being brought in after the glow up. It’s giving me the makeover trope vibes. This trope just bothers me a lot.
I am all about team Penelope, and because of that, at least I know that Colin cared for her as a person, even if it takes the glow up to kick him in the tush in terms of a romantic viewpoint.
but debling likes her for her personality too-- we will see that when they court. and like debling's actor said, he recognised the similarities they shared in not fitting into society and knew he wanted her. debling and colin are the same, they both looked at her differently after her glowup. the difference is that debling got to know her after, colin got to know her before.
I would like to add that Colin had to get over the fact that he & Penelope had known each other early in their lives. Thus, he likely felt only brotherly affection for her. That can take time to get beyond!

People want debling and Penelope together are interesting. Because the trope is friends to lovers. Colin not seeing her as a potential love interest is actually on par with their story line. he has been her friend and besides one off hand comment he has conducted himself as her friend…people said debling saw her worth the first time it’s not that Colin didn’t see her worth..it’s that Colin didn’t see her as a potential love interest just yet.. in order to be someone’s friend you have to see their worth. Colin is very immature in the series.. the instantaneous desire of debling doesn’t go with the friends to lovers story.. Colin knows her and she knows him inside and out..
I 100% agree with you. I've shipped Pen and Colin since season 1, and a fan of them in the books. Colin literally made one offhand comment, and I'm sure he's going to make up for that this season. I love the friends to lovers trope. I am excited to see Colin and Pen sine this season.

I hated Colin in the book, all he did was put down Pens writing as Whistledown. He eventually kind of came around but he did force her to stop. I did not like that at all. Colinnwas an ass. I really like him in this show though. but yeah, I think it would be awesome to see Pen with Debling. But the show is called Bridgerton and because of the book is pretty obvious Colin is endgame.
How has no one noticed that Pen looks more uncomfortable when Debbling puts his hands on her shoulder and waist. To me that reads more threatening, as though he is forcing Pen into the relationship? Sure she might have initially considered him but pieces of the trailer suggest that it isn’t so much lasting.
Book Pen is ignored by her family, tv Pen seems like her mother is doting and pushing her on Debbling… 🤔 a lil sus.
