Discalmer I work in IT, Im not a welder / fabricator / manual worker so call could go wrong.

Heya, what type/size of gas hose did you use to connect the machine to the gas bottle? Was there a specific connection you've used? I've got the same machine and thought I'd gotten all the right bits for it (regulators, flow meters and such). Imagine my surprise when I was trying to connect the hose to the machine and my hose connection having no conceivable way of attaching to the port at slim port at the back. I've searched online but they all seem pretty similar to the hose I've already got.
I might just be missing a trick but most videos skip that part of the setup as its assumed to be obvious.

I just used some 8mm ID propane hose from a old bbq initially but now I have run some 6mm ID thick wall silicone hose that is normally end used for automotive applications but seems to work pretty well.
If you do try silicone hose don’t try thin walled pipe as it will just blow.

Were you using an argon mix in this video or 100% argon? Didn't look like a clean pure argon arc.

Pure argon. My understanding is when welding aluminium the argon is just there to shield the tungsten not the material. I think my difficulty at the start was dialling in settings as I’ve never welded aluminium before and welding is just a hobby. Do you have any tips ?

@@bfgarage ah ok. Just seemed a bit sparky, thought it might have been an argon co2 mix. I did notice your torch angle was a bit shallow too, you might have sorted that now as the video was a few months ago. It feels right having it shallow as you can see the tungsten easier but you completely lose control of the arc. With Ali it's easy to overdo the balance and use too much cleaning, how are you getting on now? Had much more time on it?

@@anthonyexmouth Thank you for the reply, I've not had much more time welding with Ali over the xmas break. I do have some intercooler pipe that needs welding so I will document that and see if I can improve at all.

@@bfgarage cool. Just try and keep your torch more upright to the surface and although you're probably right check that it's 100% pure argon.

Yeh still going strong but i only use it for Ali welding, I might do a follow up video on this product.
I do find myself going to the HP-200PP for TIG and stick welding mild and stainless steel. Im not sure why it just feels better

With this welder does the ground need to be on positive or does it go on negative Cus some machines I had do it opposite 🤣

The torch goes on the torch output and the clamp goes into the output with positive / clamp icon on it.
My understanding is that this is correct but I’m no expert.
