hello
Hello
This car has just come flying through my neighbours fence 💨😂
Really ? Pictures ?
@@bfgarage how can I show ya
Imgur ?
Did the injector location affect the IAT and MAP readings? Still the best location?
This is the best location for reducing IATs on this engine. It does a great job of bringing them down as they do run HOT. It brought the temp down around 40 degrees on this car MAP readings didn't change.
Was this forged at 69k or 90k
It has the mllage in the video
How reliable is the REBUILD kit? Is it running great to date? is there an OEM rebuild kit?
We didn't run the turbo for long before going for something bigger. It did hold up to some abuse though. At the end of the day it's just some brass and seals so there's nothing really that could go wrong with it.
Good job sir, very informative thank you
Glad it was helpful!
With this welder does the ground need to be on positive or does it go on negative Cus some machines I had do it opposite 🤣
The torch goes on the torch output and the clamp goes into the output with positive / clamp icon on it. My understanding is that this is correct but I’m no expert.
hi man nice vid, I'm currently in the process of rebuilding mine i don't suppose you have the technical data for this engine like the ring end gap and stuff? thanks
Thanks for your comment. The ring gap is specific to your piston and ring manufacturer. Normally they provide a data sheet to help you work it out based on how you want the engine to run. I can let you know what we used for a boosted engine with CP pistons and rings
Did it survive?
As far as I know. Was still running a treat when we sold it. The cars now been crushed but the engines living its life in a race car.
Thank you :) sounds great (the engine part of the story)
Big single turbo s55🎉
Any good a year on ?
Yeh still going strong but i only use it for Ali welding, I might do a follow up video on this product. I do find myself going to the HP-200PP for TIG and stick welding mild and stainless steel. Im not sure why it just feels better
how to know of it is single or twin feed?
When you remove the bearing from the housing you will see which one it is. When you come to replace it just use the one that looks like same as the one it came with. If I'm honest either seems to work, ive tried it and had not changes running either a single or twin feed bearing in a single feed core.
@@bfgarage i understand by in my case i have a k04-020 and i find kits with single and twin... do you have any information?
Id just go twin then as if yours is a single you can still fit a twin, if its a twin you cant fit a single.
btw did you torque your main bearing caps? i cant imagine 20Nm is the only torque it needs..
Its 20Nm + 70 Degrees as there stretch bolts.
hi mate could you send me the pdf with all the torque sequences please?
Here are a bunch in GitHub, if you need any others stick a comment in and ill add them github.com/benford266/BMW-N55-Docs/tree/main
👍👍👍
Damn, didn't know they made water meth. I've only heard of it being a crystal.
You think crystals good. Water meth gave me about 50 bhp more power.
Hi mate, what website did you get your torque specs from?
Hi. I got them from ISTA if there’s any you need I can pull them and share.
Hi mate, what’s your Instagram can you send them to me on there?
I am thinking of getting a rear diffuser for my Macan but from what you have said the fitment issues concern me - how was the quality of the diffuser generally please?
Thanks for the comment. The quality is decent now it’s on, just the initial fit wasn’t great but nothing a heat gun can’t solve
Just a thought, the reason you inject the sealant rather than putting it on before is so it doesn't affect the bearing clearances by holding the lower half off the main block. They moved back to normal main caps in the B58.
Yeh i think that is the reason. Thats why when we managed to fail with BMWs sealant we only put the sealant into the channel. We didn’t put it on the surfaces that meet because we didn’t want to introduce any extra clearance.
Nice work lads, really good informative video
Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi, great video - does the table fold up quite flat for storage (Vevor don't seem to be able to answer this question), it looks like it on your video but not sure if that is because you hadn't finished it at that point ;-)
Yes it folds up for storage. Probably is maximum of 20cm deep when folded.
Loving the videos, keep it up!
This ENTIRE video is a addendum on my first time eating (or trying to) lobster and clams. 😢
Awesome video, I need to rebuild my K04 on my mazdaspeed 6 and this helps a lot. Thanks!

First upgrade before increasing power is to get racing rod bearings.
It had race bearings. It’s currently getting built ! Bigger and better things incoming
@@bfgarage what brand? That's very strange if so..
Heya, what type/size of gas hose did you use to connect the machine to the gas bottle? Was there a specific connection you've used? I've got the same machine and thought I'd gotten all the right bits for it (regulators, flow meters and such). Imagine my surprise when I was trying to connect the hose to the machine and my hose connection having no conceivable way of attaching to the port at slim port at the back. I've searched online but they all seem pretty similar to the hose I've already got. I might just be missing a trick but most videos skip that part of the setup as its assumed to be obvious.
I just used some 8mm ID propane hose from a old bbq initially but now I have run some 6mm ID thick wall silicone hose that is normally end used for automotive applications but seems to work pretty well. If you do try silicone hose don’t try thin walled pipe as it will just blow.
Excellent content, well done
Great stuff man
Cheers !
Where can we watch the results
Check out our latest video for the build and some sample shots at the end.
Well done!
Hi, is there a temperature o ring for the compresor housing?
Do you mean for between the housing and the back plate? The massive one ? If so it seems to depend on the turbo. On the one I’m rebuilding here it uses RTV to seal it up.
We need that F82 content 💯
Started watching this vid , then realized I could just as well watch a bad music vid instead ... Don't get the fascination with drowning what could be a good vid with music ...
Thanks for your feedback. As you can probably tell this was one of the first videos I’d done so really had no clue what I was doing. On my later videos I’ve tried to create more engaging content with less “crap” music.
@@bfgarage Don´t mind him dude, that is what the volume button is for. Very helpful video as i´m looking for cheap welding tables. Are you happy with it? Does it work with the negative clamped on the table top?
Thanks for the positive response. Overall I'm really happy with it the quality is amazing for the cost and yes you can just clamp to the table. Ive only got one downside, Its the long holes in the table top. I was welding and some hot metal dropped down through the holes and into my shoe causing quite a bad burn. Now I weld with some 1mm mild steel sheet over the table top to stop hot stuff dropping on my legs and feet.
Yeah I don't get it with most content creators nowadays using music for everything. For a montage yeah fair enough when it's lots of videos from the past year or someth I get it. I just read the lads reply so maybe we have to give him a little bit of slack.. I was gonna say Slag but that just wouldn't do.. LOL
@@bfgarage I don't like the music either bro. I know this isn't u making this table from scratch so I get the use for ur 1st video. I'm new to urt channel and also new to Welding. I just bought my 1st welders a coupla weeks ago and I got one with Stick/Lift Tig functions. The Lift Tig torch didn't come with so I had to get one and it cost 10 euros less than the DekoPro 160Amp welder.. LMAO I also bought a cheap 10-80Amp welder from LIDL. Yes I know they're normally a loada shite but this is a pretty decent little machine that'll hopefully allow me to learn on it with Stick so I can keep the other welder for learning how to Tig Weld. I got a WP-17 torch. I'm a complete Newb my bro. Sace for 3 years of metalwork classes once per week for 45mins each time when I was 11/12/13 yrs old. I'm about to close up on 51 yrs of age soon. It's been a mad last year for me getting into woodworking and now I've caught the welding bug. I'm about to embark on building my own table saw. I wish I had the money to buy on of those Langmuir Table to weld upon but not yet. Money's not for wasting as I was just made jobless this week and don't wanna waste load of cash atm. Least not til I'm back in a new job. I really want to take a year and go to college for Welding and woodworking but we'll see how it pans out. LOL Apologies for spouting off about the music on ur video bro. I like to hear the ppl speaking and explaining but I get this one. It's not ur creation so there u go.. Take it easy my man and I will be watching for more Welding content now after finding ur channel just now. Actually I think I found it through Vevor? I buy some stuff off there now and then and it's not bad tbh.. Take care welding man and look after those feet. U need them bigitime..
Wow, a BMW with indicators that actually work, though I note that they are only operational whilst it’s not on an actual road ! Normal BMW drivers have never been instructed how to operate them, as they just turn randomly without prior warning !
I note that the German highly engineered engine seems to be behaving rather erratically after a mammoth 69 miles; fault must be in the hands of the operator, they’re all the same !
So, no breaking in period.... serves you right. Pity, it was a nice car
Break in period, what’s that? Pity ? No it’ll be back better than ever !
Where you based Thanks
Yorkshire, UK
Dose this welder have HF start or are you lift starting it?
It does have HF start.
@@bfgarage Thanks for the quick reply.
Would any ko4 rebuild kit work for this? My turbo seals blew and was hoping I could just rebuild it
I just bought one for K04, wasn't expensive probably around £20. Id say it's worth a try for the minimal cost. If you do it most kits come with 2 different bushes and I used a different one from what the turbo came with as it seemed to perform better. If you give it a try and have any questions don't hesitate to drop me message.
@@bfgaragethe two different bushes are journal bearings, one will be twin feed and the other single feed. They should not be mixed up.
Were you using an argon mix in this video or 100% argon? Didn't look like a clean pure argon arc.
Pure argon. My understanding is when welding aluminium the argon is just there to shield the tungsten not the material. I think my difficulty at the start was dialling in settings as I’ve never welded aluminium before and welding is just a hobby. Do you have any tips ?
@@bfgarage ah ok. Just seemed a bit sparky, thought it might have been an argon co2 mix. I did notice your torch angle was a bit shallow too, you might have sorted that now as the video was a few months ago. It feels right having it shallow as you can see the tungsten easier but you completely lose control of the arc. With Ali it's easy to overdo the balance and use too much cleaning, how are you getting on now? Had much more time on it?
@@anthonyexmouth Thank you for the reply, I've not had much more time welding with Ali over the xmas break. I do have some intercooler pipe that needs welding so I will document that and see if I can improve at all.
@@bfgarage cool. Just try and keep your torch more upright to the surface and although you're probably right check that it's 100% pure argon.
Scrap
Nothing constructive to say ?
Love the N55’s, they’re so underrated, mine is running 620hp currently! Only advice is always keep your oil to the max 🤣 (if you have no baffled sump)
