    Thanks for taking time to share your experience with this tool-especially how not to break it! After climbing and pruning my Magnolia tree this winter, I imagined a pivoting head like this tool to reach out along a limb I’m standing on. At the local store I found this pruning stik at a 20% discount and treated myself. I’ve spent a lot of time volunteering to plant trees with a local non-profit, and hope this tool can help to structure prune and prolong the life of many trees which were planted in the last 5 years. Also I’ll be helping a friend clear bush around their foundation, and climbing my own trees to do more pruning during the next dormant season….I think this tool has a nice profile to pull up into a tree.

    Do you know how do you remove the chain link to replace the blade or is there a video.

      Hi @JP-pf1nj - - - I did not have the tools (or the knowledge) to remove the chain link either. For me, when I received a replacement from Fiskars, I got a complete replacement one time of the whole product, and a second time I got just the head assembly, and replaced it as one piece (Not touching the chain parts). Sorry, that's probably not much help.

      I see.. they sent me the spring, link and blade.....I probably need a special tool... thanks. Maybe I should request an entirely new tool. Thank you

      Hi @JP-pf1nj - - - The Head Kit wasn't too bad to install... probably under 15 minutes. I have thought about taking the chain apart on an old broken head to put it's sharp blade on a head that I've worn out. Maybe a local Bike shop would have some advice or a tool, and might get it off for you? It seems like it might go back together with just a pair of pliers???? Let us know how it goes! Maybe write back to Fiscars and ask them for instructions??? Hope you can get it repaired. I still love the tool!!!

      Try searching in the Google Machine... Instructions_9234_Head_Replacement_Rethreading.PDF - - Page 4 shows how to get the link off with a screwdriver, and reattach with a pair of needle nose plyers. HOPE THAT's SOME HELP!!!!

    Have you had to replace the blade on one? I had a blade break but they replaced the blade kit. When replacing it I've had trouble getting the chain connector plate to go on the studs holding the chain together. do you have any advice that might make it easier?

      @OldIronAcres  Před rokem +1

      Hi @paulsears5201 - - I have had a whole stick replaced, and I've replaced the whole head assembly on one... but not just the blade so far. I'm sorry I'm not more help on that.... but I am curious what you would need to do to replace the blade. I've heavily abused mine (all 3), and the blades badly need a sharpening or an alignment. I still love them. For the price I just don't think they can be beat! - - Let me know how it goes!!
