  • This video is about The best video to service the cutting head of Fiskars UP86 Pole Pruner. I purposely made it a longer video so you can follow in detail how the head cutting mechanism works and it shows how to replace the string and where it is threaded.

    Thank you so much for your video. We needed to replace the rope in the head which was cut in two parts when using the Pole Pruner. Ours has an other reference but has the same head.
    When looking at the video on slow speed we got all the explanations on how to do it !
    The most difficult part was about theinside strap. When we undid the knot we let it go inthe nadle and it was very difficult at the end to replace it back to the far end of the handle.
    After many trials, we succeed with some "home made tricks" and the help of a wire.

    I've almost got it! This is the only video I've found that comes close to giving perfect direction. I am struggling with one issue. When I get the strings through all the places they pull easily through until I put the lid on. You said to make the rope is "under". I cant figure that part out. . Otherwise you are a most wonderful, easy to follow teacher thank you so much! :)

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for your nice comments . What I would suggest is in your CZcams you can go to playback settings . Play the video at slower speed and follow the rope slowly as I do it . I think you are getting the rope caught when you wind it around the inner wheel. If you keep moving the string in and out as you replace the outer plastic section , the rope usually will not get caught when the lid goes on . Hard part is the last part as there is not much room to work with as the lid goes on.
      Best of luck

Discovered the pull rope had jammed within the pole when the chain link let go ....Really difficult to find until I gave it a huge tug in desperation.......Also found out not to trap the cord within the outer housing where it exits the main spool and enters the slot used for angle adjustment . • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před rokem +1

      Hello and thanks for your comment.
      It has been a while since I made that video . From memory, I did not purposely take the chain off . It had snapped off at the end where it connects to the jaw. The chain then went inside the plastic housing and was still attached inside . I was trying to retrieve the end that came off and ended up dismantling the whole assembly . I then had to put it back together and it was so complicated that I made this video to help others .
      In the video , when the chain is not visible , it is still inside the inner reel. The chain has come off the link where it attaches to the jaws . In the end I had to use a pop rivet to attach the chain back to the jaw .

    I thought I had it all fixed and figured out. Not the strap, but the string broke inside from pulling to hard when I tried to cut a half dead branch. So I tied to broken string back together. Now when I pull on the orange handle, to make the jaws to close, it will not close completely. I didn’t think the knot would stop the string from sliding as you close the jaws because the knot goes away and not towards the cutter. What did I do wrong?

      Isn’t the chain link connected by a rivet? If you really need that taken off you need to cut the rivet. Replacing it means placing another rivet. Or you could throw it away and buy a new one for 40 bucks.

      Where can you buy one that cheap ? If the $40 breaks you’d still need to fix that one too.
