    They are both great tractors. I am on my 3rd 1025r. I use them for 3 yrs and sell them privately. Since they have an incredible re-sale value my loss very small, considering the gain of a brand new machine. As for the plastic issue on the JD, I have found that part to be very important for me. If you loose a large chunk of ice/frozen snow or stone when piling and it hits the hood, the JD hood will slightly dent but return to normal in a second. Also, the no rust is important to me as I keep my equipment like my half-ton, MINTY. I also like the forward/reverse pedals on my 1025r. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your tractors!

    I don't see the difference between the Kubota needing to be throttled up from its low idle of 1300 RPM to 1600 RPM to run the hydraulics, and the Deere having a low idle at 1600 RPM and running the hydraulics without throttling up. Both tractors require 1600 RPM to run the hydraulics. It's just that the Kubota offers the option of idling even lower.
    If there's a meaningful difference I'm not understanding, it would be better if you'd explain that (whether in the video or the description/comments).

      Good question. What is the point of operating at a RPM speed that doesn't allow you to use the equipment? Thanks for watching!

    • @harvey66616
      @harvey66616 Před 5 lety +6

      @@GoodWorksTractors Well, not really the point I was trying to make. I don't consider "idle" to be an *operating* RPM. It's *idle*. I.e. an engine speed not used for working, but when you want the engine on just for it to run (say you're taking a short break and want to use minimum fuel). I don't consider it a downside to have an idle speed lower than the minimum working speed.
      (Unless the goal is to encourage operators to just shut the machine off completely when they want to take even a short break...which, I don't know, maybe that actually is a good goal. Reduces emissions, wear and tear on the engine, fuel costs, etc.)

      @yay4this Před 5 lety +1

      I can agree. I'm used to working with older tractors. They idle lower, but the RPM gauge has a position mark to be reached when using the PTO.

    When I first saw this I was appalled by the fact that the Kubota wouldn't move the loader at idle. I have recently started a project to increase the hydro performance on the 1 series and through that research, I know why the Kubota doesn't move. It must be using a priority flow divider for the single pump to power the steering and implements. In this setup, all the flow goes to the steering until it meets a max, then the excess goes to the implements. In this case, the flow is so low that none is going to the implement circuit. On the 1 series, it uses a proportional flow divider where 50% goes to each steering and implements all the time. That's why the jd always works, but this may lead to a higher flow to the steering than necessary. That's what I am working on, to direct some of the steering flow to the implements so the backhoe and loader operate faster. So far, it's made a pretty significant difference, but I'm still tweaking the setup.

    I'm surprised no one has done a fair comparison of the 2018 1025r and the bx23s. I see videos of the bx23s vs the 2017 model of the 1025r, but I don't think that is a fair comparison because they are not the latest versions of those models. Probably harder for Good Works to do since they only deal with used, but something I think that would help buyers who are looking at the latest and greatest.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Před 5 lety

      If and when I ever get those models in stock at the same time, I will definitely do a comparison. I have no problem comparing Kubota and John Deere, but I can't go out of my way to purchase a Kubota model simply to do a video. Hopefully it happens this year though! Thanks for watching!

    Interesting that the Kubota hydro doesn’t work so well at low idle. I operate the loader on my 1025r a fair amount on idle. I do like the multi functionality of the Kubota hydros. Nice comparison.

    Coming to this as someone that's not operated a tractor in a very long time (david brown of my youth) and need to keep 5 acres of new property with about 2.5 mowed rest wooded. I love the green but my god the cost. If JD would only go with a standard not proprietary skid steer style connectors it would be an awesome deal. But locking me into those really really expensive implements kinda kills it for me.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Bones,
      You need to pay $500 to upgrade to SSQA on Kubota. John Deere is included. John Deere's proprietary system only costs more if you buy John Deere/Frontier branded implements. Same can be said for Kubota. If you go aftermarket, where there's many high quality solutions, then there is no cost difference. That's a total misconception.
      Look at my website, I sell snow pushers, pallet forks, etc for both systems. Exactly the same price for each version.
      Also, Kubota and John Deere pricing is within a few hundred bucks for comparable models on new equipment. In some areas, Kubota is more than JD.

    • @Will-tm5bj
      @Will-tm5bj Před 5 lety

      Not to to mention the added weight of the ssqa, if you already lift less than 800lbs you're gonna lose another hundred. I imagine the jdqa is a bit lighter.

      What I can tell you from a proud owner of a 2017 Kubota BX23S the hood lifts forward and the hood is all metal. The only plastic on the Kubota is the operator display area, and the bottom air intake shroud at the operator station. Of course there are smaller plastic pieces and parts in the engine compartment. The FEL actuator has changed position, and is a huge improvement, you have very good, precise control with the joystick due to the armrest location. Also there is float mode for the FEL, again a nice feature. The BX23S came equipped with quick attach FEL, and backhoe. You can unlock, and unhinge from the operator's seat, and has the "bobcat" or universal style quick attach. You do have to dismount from the operator stand to disconnect the hyd. hoses. Having said that the BX24 may have a plastic hood. Just wanted to point that out for the people that don't own a BX23S. Great video. I will close is saying that there are some "things" that I don't like about the BX23S, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Hope this helps!!

    This is a funny comparison! BX24 was the only TLB model that they used plastic. Compare a current model and you have all steel fenders, floorboard, and one piece METAL hood (bonnet) assembly. Also built by KUBOTA, with their ENGINE in Georgia, as well as the loader, backhoe, and mower deck are made by Kubota in GEORGIA! Sure the 1025R is built in GA, using a Yanmar engine, but their implements are made in MEXICO. That makes Kubota more american if you ask me. Also this is like comparing a new F150 to a 2009 Silverado (BX24 discontinued in 2009). I understand that you have to sell the JD, heck they do things that Kubota doesn't and vice versa. But regardless of what you state you are comparing an "ancient" tractor to something brand new.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Před 4 lety +1

      I don't have to sell JD, I only sell used tractors. For someone looking at the BX24, they would also look at what else is available from the same time by competition. I can't help it that Kubota change their models every 2-3 years and JD doesn't. It still makes it a valid comparison. I sell used tractors up to 20 years old, so I do comparisons with tractors from the same time frame whenever valid. Many people look for used tractors, not only new so it's important to put used comparisons out there. Plus, that 1025r TLB is the old style, not the new style. Additionally, they both use thousands of dollars of foreign parts in their machines.

      Nick Rosario That would apply to every model through the BX25D-1. That encompasses at least four models that Kubota produced. All the most prevalent in the used market which are the tractors that I sell.
      Why did it take Kubota so long to catch up in that area?

      Thank you for the response.
      It will be very interesting to compare a current BX vs current 1025r
      Another niche, if we can call it that way, is the tractors that are between a sub compact and a small compact class...
      Such as the Kubota B2601, Branson 2510h, MF 1526, JD 2025r. It would be nice to be able to compare any of those current ones in near real world situations.
      I have to see yet a true unbiased VS comparison on Ergonomics (which I know tend to be subjective), Lifting capacity on FEL and 3point and other capabilities.

      I'm sure I'll have a comparable JD 2 Series and Kubota B Series at some point. However, Kubota has a B2601 and B2650. Different machines. John Deere just has the one 2 Series line for now. I don't really deal in anything besides those two brands, so you won't see a Branson, MF, LS, etc comparison from me unfortunately.
      Thanks for watching!
