    Can it be done in maya vray?If i follow your step and replace nodes with vray nodes

    I built the shader and it works great, however the place2dtexture is no where to be found. It is only available on nodes that have not been part of the tutorial "weight" example still has this available when you go and assign a texture map. I did it as a test . So how can I resolve this dilemma?

      try adding an aiImage node?

    When you clicked on the noise how did you view it in the renderview???

      Isolate selected.. From the debug menu in the arnoldrender view
