This week we're taking a short detour from our normal turbocharged, fully custom, frame off builds to show you guys exactly what our process is to take a cool car or truck and make it cooler (literally). We're going to show you all the steps we take to take a classic car or truck that's already drivable, sitting on bags, and looking pretty, and turn it into something comfortable, and reliable. A ride that you look forward to driving every season of the year, no matter the weather.
To do that, we have this Chevy C10 Stepside truck rolling into the shop. This truck already has a cool patina paint job, it's sitting on bags, and the interior already has some cool upholstery. But all that doesn't matter if it's not enjoyable to drive. So we have a whole pile of upgrades that we're going to stuff into this step side. We're ditching that carburetor for a more headache-free Holley Sniper EFI unit, a slick looking Holley mid-mount accessory drive, and we got an upgraded radiator and fan combo to keep the engine cool! The engine isn't the only we're trying to keep cool. We also have a Restomod AC system going into this truck; giving this C10 a cool cab breeze where there previously was none. We also have a Dakota digital gauge cluster going into this truck to give the dash a much needed refresh!
Let us know what your favorite upgrade was, or if you think we missed any important parts to making this truck an even better all-weather Sunday cruiser!

Where did you get that seat??
Loved the vintage playboy at 21mins!
I have a 350 that's very Sentimental to me that I would like to revive. Thank you for this video..
Thanks for watching!! Hopefully you get your ride on the road soon and we see you out at a show!
With these skills AND these tools, every project or problem in the world seems easy to do man. I love to see it
It just really takes a lot of patience (and spare tools for when you throw a wrench across the shop because you run out of that patience! lol)
YESSSSS THE BEST CHEVY TRUCK BODY EVER!!
Id like the center vent to be a ball blaster 😆 they need to bring those back
They need to be a requirement in cars, not just an added option! lol
Wow!!! S2S always doing a clean job on their trucks. Amazing job guys👌
Thanks!!
Much needed upgrades in my opinion. Very nicely done. Cant wait to see the new wheel selection.
nice work boys, got the whole team on this one.
Modern tech, oldschool looks. This is definitely one way to keep the old Americarna on the road. 😎🤟
And then there are guys like Steve Darnell, David Freiburger and Steve Dulcic - the guardians of old oldschool knowledge. This side of keeping the classics rolling is also important. 🚗
As long as these trucks stay rollin, we're happy!
Nobody noticed that magazine on the bench seat??😂
Sweet! I had a 69 c10 stepside back in the 90's. Dropped it in shop class. Wish I still had it.
That must've been a dream shop class man!
S2S video this beautiful morning lets goooo bb!! 💪🏼🔥❤️
Happy Wednesday Craig! Hope you enjoyed it!
Everyone at salvage to savage does good work, you guys are always trying to do things the right way and hopefully it pays off. Always learn something when watching your videos thank you
Thank you so much! We love hearing that!!
Awesome video, tons of up grades on the C10 , love the Sniper system, gonna install in my square body soon 👍
That's awesome! We love using these things. Super simple to install and set up!
That drive belt set up really makes it look like an LS...😊
These Holley setups clean up the motor so nicely!
The whole Savage family involved in that video build nice one. The truck turned out nice and clean and as always sounded like a Savage family build
It was definitely a team effort getting all the worked knocked out so we could get back to the big builds!
Dam you all make it look so easy
It helps when the Timelapse's speed everything up!
Good of you to remove the pool decking & do a proper job!
Love your work Mike ✔️
Thanks so much! We couldn't just leave the bed like that after seeing what it was like underneath!
Cannot wait to see the final look fellas. I have a 72 C10 myself that I am working on. You guys give me great ideas on what to get for mine. I am interested in the mid mount pump for my bbc
Awesome! The mid mount kit is definitely an awesome upgrade!
I love that in 30 minutes the whole job is done. 🤣 You guys are wizards.
Gotta get it done quick! We got bigger fish to fry! lol
Nice work guys , all hands on deck! Oh that’s the box floor? A nice upgrade for a cool truck!

Thank you! Cheers!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
AWESOME CONTENT !
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Nice! I'd rather have this C10 than a brand new pickup!
You and me both!
Yeah boy! 🤙
All I have to say is.. WOW!!!! This is definitely a way of not doing an LS swap...
?
It’s a 350 small block not a LS
@@justinmalone8518 that's the joke
@@justinmalone8518 Yes.. I know that...
Right almost 2k for that accessory drive
You guys are trick! The engine magically changed from orange to black!
so much got done even with dave laying down on the job! 😂😂
He was snoozing in that engine bay
Yall squeezed 3 episodes of content into one, yall must be busy as hell!
Good work! Nice meat and potatoes job
Well we have enough big builds that we're trying to keep you guys up to date with. We didn't want to stretch this into 3 or 4 episodes and have you waiting on all our other projects!
Another great video 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this channel
Thanks so much! We really appreciate the support!
That was a ton of work! Would be nice if the wire harness (as nice as they are) would come with a bulk head connector, would much easier than fishing wires through a hole then trying fit fit a grommet around it all. Nice job S2S!
That would be an awesome idea (and probably net you a fortune!) Imagine having a bulkhead connector that you can mix and match different dash set ups and engine electronic set ups. Sounds really complicated and a lot of R&D but it would be a cool concept to wire up a car or truck with just a couple harness connector clicks!
@@SalvagetoSavage no doubt some accessories connectors in the engine bay that are fused at the main panel would be very helpful at times.
Oooof 👌 love this truck
She's a real beauty!
Love the old skool Playboy Mag on the bench seat @20:45. I hope this comment doesn't get this video 😈'tized because y'all do amazing work and I love your content!! I started watch during the S2SLA EV10 build and have been following along since!! Also, MASSIVE ❤️ n appreciation for that Psychedelic art work!!
I love the channel and the builds :)
Can I get a t shirt 😝😝😝
We have some for sale on our store! If you message us with your order # on instagram we'll make sure to throw in some stickers for you!
Nice
Thanks
I think your customer needs to change out that 3 speed to compliment those goodies you guys installed 😉
We like the 3 speed! We just wish it was a 3 on the tree!
Mikey - You and the team never fail to impress ... job well done :o)
Thank you!!
That's a nice old truck, not too sure how I feel about the wheels. The first manual I ever drove was a 3 speed, but it was on the column ; it was a 1973 Ford van, everything you could put on a van, was on this one.(a bit too much for my taste, but whatever)
These wheels are takin a trip to the dumpster! We have a new wheel and tire package coming for this thing!
Great video! 👍
What does the customer have to pay for this awesome conversion? 💰💰💰
It really depends on how the truck rolls in! Being able to use existing wiring, not having to repair rust, and having vent provisions for AC are all really big factors in pricing out a job like this!
@@SalvagetoSavage I do realize that it depends on the condition of the truck - I'm interested in the cost to the owner of this truck.
Maybe just the prices of the installed parts? 💲
Very nice upgrades! Where did you guys locate the gps antenna?
Question, did you use the speed sensor on the trans or GPS speedometer?
I've never seen a coil mounted in the glove box. Is that common for restomods?
Not necessarily. We wanted to keep the engine bay as clean as possible, so we moved some of the things that would normally be mounted on the firewall in to the cab!
How did you wire the alternator?
sodder
Are the soldersticks made in America?
✌👍
A/C keeps you cruising.
It's no longer a sweat box in this Florida heat!
Nice work as usual. How many hours for a build like this?
Hard to say for the full build! All we did on this one were the updates that we showed in the episode. To get a truck like this from stock to how it's sitting now depends a lot on the condition of the truck when it rolls in to the shop!
@@SalvagetoSavage HA....realize that was very open ended. I meant to say how many hours to finish the featured updates.
is that a playboy magazine inside the truck?
💪👊👏
Adding the ac must have really limited the placement of some of those digitals…
I was wondering if anyone has made coil packs for these olscool 350???
i've seen people do like old school blocks with vortec parts and coil pack setup's. its just do you want to spend money to do it. its like every generation tho is going to be different. so like right now ls1's can be pulled from any junkyard and used just like back in the day any 350 could be pulled from a truck and put into say a 80's camaro that came with a v6. its cheaper to buy the current gen blocks then it is to build up older gen stuff cause its getting harder to find old gen items unless you know that old man down the road a ways. personally for me i want to build a chevy 400 small block (NOT PONTIAC, THEY ARE VASTLY DIFFERENT) and my only options would be to use a after market block from say dart and im not even sure they make them any more *just googled and they do... but 2k-4k* so for 2 or 4k i could build a chevy 400 again like back in my day. but at the same time. its just cheaper and more economical to build a LS engine cause i can find the parts and they can be had running for that price. do some head work, cams, and a small turbo... and your going to have a stronger block then the 400. but i really like 400's i just would never build one any more. even tho i could bore the 400 from dart to something like 426 or 427 or something and they are power houses, with 5k i can build a junk yard motor that could push 700-1k hp which if everything else is stock i wouldn't want to do but it can be done i've seen it a bunch of times in my lil red neck area. and most of the parts they use are junk yard or ebay
@AlteredCarbons Nice... So my plan is with that 350 I want a 64 Impala and make the engine like a Protouring cruiser on airride... Thanks again...
They make coil-on-plug conversions for these blocks, but these Sniper systems work directly with our EFI set up and we're able to make spark adjustments on the fly right from the same screen that controls our fuel!
Who makes the fuel tank kit?
The full tank and drop-in set up is a Holley kit!
I have to know what size tires and rims those are and where to get them
we're swapping them out now! I'm sure the owner would be down to sell them. Message us on IG!
Un vraie chassis c est beau un vraie chassis et vue qu il serait en hauteur on pourrait le voir et tout le moteur desous style monster truk haaa si si
where are yall located
South Florida!
How much does something like this cost??
J aurait vues sur tout le desous de mont pikup c est dans ma tête c est pikup le 3100 bennes fleap side comme celle la je veux dire en hauteur hum-mmm le 3100 monster truk un ls3 suffirait je pense
What happened to the guy with the nose and the glasses? Noticed I haven’t seen him in a while. Can’t remember his name
i love all the work you guys do, it should inspire us all if we like cars to get as close to your level of fab work and detail work. that being said. i really dont like this truck and the only thing i dont like is the damn color... like that fake blue patina looks so garbage its not even funny. you can tell they spent some time to make the truck look straight and paint match... they should of just did a real paint job. also i know its not my car and this is what the owner wanted but this just screams ugly to me. i dont want to say its trashy as its far from trash, but i feel like its just a bad taste to look at... but again, love the fab work here guys. sorry for rant.
Thanks so much for watching and all the kind words!! The paint should probably be a bit more weathered and distressed to give it more closer to a realistic patina finish. But like you said, this one isn't ours to enjoy. If the owner loves it and it gets him to break this baby out of the garage and keep it on the streets, then it's two thumbs up from us! You should check out some of the patina paint episodes we have and let us know if you like the look better when it's matched for a more traditional weathered look!
🙏😔🤲🇫🇷👉😘
Fixing everything that's wrong with it ? Fit a set of springs for a start
L arrière oui mais moi c est un avant 3100 perchée en auteur avec style pneux monster truk grose roues en hauteur style monster truk 3100 tout orange et noir
Its criminal how much these parts are. You could buy 3 C10s for the price of that sniper and Dakota dash. Just stupid..
I guess you haven't seen the price of C10's lately!
the engine changed colour ....
Chevy, can't cure what's not fixable. 💩
Instead of spending thousands on a sniper go buy a carb cheater. It does auto tuning, you can see your fuel ratios, change idle, do manual tuning etc and you keep the carb you have and its all done on your phone via Bluetooth. Its a few hundred bucks
First
Well played.
1. Who cares about the clock. Oil pressure and vacuum/boost are far more important to see on any vehicle.
2. Should have went with an electric water pump as well.
3. Air ride is no longer in unless you are doing bags for towing and using an external air compressor.
