    I see a lot of people are taking the piss out of GMBN for making this video. But imagine if you're totally new to biking, this video is perfect and may bring more people to the channel. This channel isn't just for the advanced rider but for all skill levels. Good video guys.

      Exactly the position I'm in really, last time I had a bike I was 13, now I have a mountain bike with discs, this video has helped my confidence to remove the wheel to see why my rear pads are rubbing, (think the pistons need pushing back).

    As a 49 year old getting back into the sport after 33 years, these types of videos are invaluable!! The sport has changed a lot in that time & a lot of the instincts & confidence I had as a kid who rode all the time and everywhere, are gone so a video with a skill tip like this is a life saver!

    You guys. There are more people struggling with this then you might think or they would like to admit. Like removing and re installing the wheel with brute force (pushing the cassette through the rear mech or banging on top of the wheel to whack it in place) I think we have all seen people do these things to their bikes. Or even done them ourselves. So it makes sense to even cover the basics. GMBN does a great job (IMHO) providing content for a wide audience.

    I haven’t replaced a bike tire in over 15 years since I was a kid when I was riding cruisers with coaster brakes. Some people may say this video is useless because replacing bike wheels are easy but it’s not for everyone who either has never done it or just simply can’t remember how to. I’m great at math but bad at mechanics. Thanks for the video. It was short and to the point. I watched a few other videos that were over 15 minutes in length because everything was over explained and not demonstrated properly.

  • @johnhenrick2298
    @johnhenrick2298 Před rokem

    I dropped my back wheel from the bike; that part was easy. Then I tried to get it back in, and that was murder. The washers under the axle nuts kept moving and preventing the axle from going into the dropouts. Contending with the washers and the disc brake was driving me nuts, so I ended up taking the bike off the repair stand, turning it upside-down and putting the wheel in. I now turn the bike upside-down any time I need to remove the wheel. It's so much easier.

    It looks so weird that the left hub endcap just sits right up against the unpainted frame without washers or anything. The right side hub endcap sits in the hanger which looks fine. Anyway that's why I looked for a vid that shows the left side so i can compare with my bike. I took my wheel off today and just thought the left side hub endcap looked so weird up against raw metal frame material. One would think it would have something to sit in or on like the right side. Wish someone could explain why nothing is used for the left side end cap to rest on. Great vid and the only one that showed my situation. Thanks! 4:04 and again at 4:23 excellent!

      The front wheel literally has no drive train just unscrew the front axle or untighten the quick release lever and then it comes off it's that simple

    How to diagnose loosen spokes ? my rear wheel craks when i brake/accelerate hard... My cassette is tight and my hubs are ok, I thinking about my noise is from the spokes but i dont want to touch it if my problem is not from there...

    • @wodstalker2819
      @wodstalker2819 Před 8 lety

      +Andrew Zegel No it is clearly from the rear, its not my BB since if i brake hard without pedaling it also happends...

    Thanks for the tutorial, just wondering why some bikes have gone away from quick release wheels especially on the rear?

      Thru-axle wheels have just been proved to be more reliably safe and add a bit of torsional strength and stiffness to the bike which is nice!
