BACH in space - Magnificat, I. Magnificat anima mea (BWV 243)

Es ist der am häufigsten vertonte Text - das Magnificat! Johann Sebastian Bach setzte es nur ein einziges Mal in Töne. Entstanden ist ein Meisterwerk, welches an Virtuosität kaum zu überbieten ist. Diese beindruckende Musik trifft in unserer Bach in Space Serie, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Association of Space Explorers, auf die ebenso beeindruckende Sicht vom Mond auf unsere Erde. Es ist ein ergreifender Perspektivenwechsel, der uns wiederholt die Einzigartigkeit und Verletzlichkeit unseres Planeten zeigt. Und dennoch ist die Erde nur ein winziges Detail im großen Weltall, wie eine Stimme in Bachs feinstem polyfonen Lobgesang.

It's the most frequently set text - the Magnificat. Johann Sebastian Bach only set it to music once. The result is a masterpiece that can hardly be surpassed in terms of virtuosity. This impressive music meets the equally impressive view of our Earth from the moon in our Bach in Space series, in collaboration with the Association of Space Explorers. It is a moving change of perspective that repeatedly shows us the uniqueness and vulnerability of our planet. And yet the Earth is only a tiny detail in the great universe, like a voice in Bach's finest polyphonic Magnificat.
