- Part Two of my Autistic Hyposensitivity series.
Tactile Hyposensitivity is under-responsivity to touch.
This is how it presents for me and examples of my experiences.

I’m so glad I found this video because I get really confused. I HATE light touch, I get super overwhelmed with shirt tags and anything that touches me slightly, but at the same time I have a very high pain tolerance and LOVE deep pressure and scratching myself and all of that too. I also have the same reaction when people slightly touch my hair
slight touch of hair OMG ASMR response!!! the shivers!!!
Yeah same I'm probably the most tickly person I know. I hate light touch. I literally react as aggressive to it as to nothing else.
Such a lovely summer dress and awesome dance moves!
I feel like hyposensitivity is rarely discussed in autistic communities, despite how unpredictable it can make environments if you can't "acclimate" to them slowly sensory wise, and just get this odd extreme "delayed" response which can confuse people even more at times, because they're not as recognizeable as hypersensitive symptoms. I'm still trying to figure out how my body perceives various senses around me because of the lack of input my brain receives haha
yeah. im just so revolted by NT people tbh. but yeah, for sure HYPOsensitivies are harder to notice..and easily chalked up to "bad behavior" because instead of running FROM something and acting withdrawn, you might run To something or touch and need something and that seems to anger NTs.
I'm so glad I found this channel, a lot of things are beginning to make sense. I took guitar lessons in the 3rd grade and I found that I really liked the feeling of pressing my finger tips into the guitar strings. I don't play guitar anymore, but I find myself pressing my fingernails into my fingertips to get the same sensation. Now I know why!
me too! i’ve been playing guitar for five years and i mourn the beginning stage where the pain was really sharp
Sometimes I go around with cuts and bruises then wonder where they came from!
This is interesting. I thought everyone wakes up kind of numb or gets numb when they don't move. Then I found out I have peripheral neuropathy. Then I found out I am autistic as well. I have two autistic friends who also have peripheral neuropathy. Autism is often thought of as a brain thing, but it's a whole self thing and there are some medical conditions that can overlap that aren't super known. For me, the neuropathy has changed the way I walk when I relapse. I like being autistic. I like how I am, but the sensory differences can be not so great.
right and ehlers danlos overlaps often too
I think my father might have peripheral neuropathy, he has this thing, where he can't feel his feet anymore. Gotta ask him.
Thanks for this series, I have only watched the first two so far. I am hoping to adopt a toddler with an Autism diagnosis who seems to have a hypersensitivity to sound and touch so these have given me a real insight into how he might be perceiving the world.
Thank you for making this video
OMFG YOU *ARE* LIKE ME!! I often touch and shift just like you do!!
ohh i have this. i'm gonna make a video on this too
yeah, I hate soft touches 😂
